Well I thought I would start this thread for those who are going to sit back and enjoy the day.

At the beginning of my life -I was 6 years old, I was at Hyde Park Corner under a policeman’s cap, in the pouring rain, now at 77 I am at home in front of the television.

I shall enjoy every minute of it. Just watching the guests arriving.

I know it is a bit basic but how do those older people in the audience manage to go so long without a wee? It must be a nightmare for them.

Yes I do agree, but on the other hand he has given people a great deal of pleasure over the years - so it is perhaps right to include a piece by him.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the husband of Joseanne is a chorister there. Unfortunately, she seems to have left GN sad

Oh yes, he could be 🙂

Whitewave mark2 when you hear all these great hymns, would you agree that the Andrew Lloyd Webber piece was a bit err bland?
William Walton sounds splendid. Another hard one to sing.

Love that a Sikh is in the choir🙂

Does anybody know if they have screens up in the Abbey as you would not see anything if you are sitting in the side Naves otherwise

But at least you can say “Well I was there”.

Have I missed it I thought the crowd where going to swear an oath of allegiance?

Well, they did, after Justin and William.

All those in the Abbey who wanted to join in.

I watched the late Queen’s coronation sitting on a fat cushion on the floor in my grandparents’ home, the room was full of grown ups sitting on chairs, but today anno domini has promoted me to a comfy chair, old age has some compensations

Yes I can remember sitting on the floor - I had to give up my chair to a neighbour who just happened to pop in! Always resented that.

The music is glorious but there are some boring bits and long pauses where I think people have forgotten their lines.

Stupid auto correct
“Be joyful unto the Lord” etc
Apologies

Calendargirl Sat 06-May-23 12:38:46

Lot of responsibility for how it all goes with Justin Welby.

He’s like the MC I suppose.

lemsip Sat 06-May-23 12:38:24

The Coronation is first and foremost an act of Christian worship,” Welby said in the Lambeth press release. “The signs, symbols and language we use remind us that our God is the Servant King.”

Whitewavemark2 Sat 06-May-23 12:37:07

Welby’s knees must be in good shape as he plonks down on them like billy - oh

The late Queen took communion at her coronation.

An important and meaningful part of her role as defender of the faith.

Is this communion? I didn’t realise that would take place?

Just some bits of it I think.

Actually most of it.
I suppose it's the solemn bit.

Louis has gone! Myster

Gone to the loo with Nanny?

Yep. His chair has been removed so looks like he ain't coming back?

Probably that was pre-planned. It's a very long ceremony then service for a small child.

Why not smile- it is also a joyous occasion -
“be joyful not the Lord all ye nations”

Exactly.
Had she not smiled, all the comments would’ve been about sour faced on such a momentous occasion for her husband
Whatever she did would’ve been wrong, but those people who were waiting to be offended.
