Well I thought I would start this thread for those who are going to sit back and enjoy the day.

At the beginning of my life -I was 6 years old, I was at Hyde Park Corner under a policeman’s cap, in the pouring rain, now at 77 I am at home in front of the television.

I shall enjoy every minute of it. Just watching the guests arriving.

I don't understand what Adjoa Andoh is getting at?
I meant to put that in quotes.
Wielding a wooden spoon.

accusing the royal family of being racist ?

I don't understand what Adjoa Andoh is getting at?

If a white bride and groom threw a reception for a large number of diverse guests, and asked their siblings and offspring act as best man and bridesmaids to support them, why would anyone comment that the top table was "terribly white"?

With mother of the bride welcomed too.

I don’t know whether to laugh or dispair at Adjoa Andoh (of Bridgerton fame) stating the bleeding’ obvious by commenting on the ‘terribly white’ balcony, referring to ‘all the young people.’

Seeing as they all have white parents and the only mixed race member of the RF has turned her back on the UK, I fail to see what she’s getting at.

There are a couple of mixed race children in the RF but nobody’s allowed to see them. 🤔🤔

The Duchess of Sussex was invited to the Coronation but chose not to come.
Whether the children were invited I don't not know as they are very young to attend such a long and solemn occasion.

An olive branch was held out but not accepted.

It looked to me as if the Princess of Wales had two different dresses. In the Abbey her dress had a round neck and in the official group photo a v neck. The v neck looked lovely with the special necklace. Also the Queen was wearing the traditional 'coronation necklace' (of huge diamonds) which looked good with her gorgeous gown.

Mollygo we know zero!
My feeling is that some people will take their cues- rightly or not - from perceptions of how Royalty behaves. Sometimes I think there’s a lot of emotional intelligence lacking in the way the Royal Family is portrayed in the mass media. But then perhaps emotional intelligence isn’t a priority for them?

Anniebach Tue 09-May-23 12:24:20

Camilla wasn’t crowned as a monarch , her charities were spoken of in the concert and William addressed them both .

Coronation.gov.uk refers to The Coronation of their majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Therefore one joint coronation for two people so wrong to exclude Camilla from the concert.
👍
And a missed chance to provide more fodder for the anti-Camilla group.
Do we know she felt excluded?

He is very posh but he's a good egg (for a Tory).

Ashcombe thank you for your illuminating post, highlighting the immense effort put into these ceremonies by our armed forces. I hope your BiL recovers his energy soon, and the injured man (which wasn’t reported, I wonder why not?) gets well soon and is able to play his instrument again.

Seems the republicans believe their right to free speech also believe the right to cause harm and distress to the public

Bizziebe Tue 09-May-23 10:34:26

So, next year or whenever, will it be the Investiture or the Investitures? PoW x 2.

And following on from Ashcombe's post, think of the chaos and injuries/deaths if many of the horses had been spooked by the protesters. The police had to prevent that.... as someone said on the other thread, the police were damned if they did, and damned if they didn't.

My thoughts exactly.

Callistemon21 Tue 09-May-23 10:32:25

It is an interesting post, thank you Ashcombe

It also illustrates the fact that, however well-trained the horses are, they are large animals and yes, could react to unexpected noises or events which could cause problems for riders and anyone else nearby.

I hope the trombonist is making a good recovery.

No, the concert was to celebrate the coronation of the King

Yes.

ronib Tue 09-May-23 09:56:44

Well that is bizarre…. Should it have been called The concert of the Coronations? Just a bit easier to say ‘the coronation concert’.
Still think Camilla has her work cut out …. A bit of recognition wouldn’t go amiss.

Anniebach Tue 09-May-23 09:50:47

The word ‘coronation’ !
