Good Morning Sunday 7th May 2023

Good morning all and it’s looking dreary here but with promise of a warm and brighter day.

I loved every second of the Coronation yesterday but was rather stiff and goggle -eyed by the end of the day. Charles and Camilla did so well and must be relieved it all went to plan. They should spend the day relaxing and recovering.

Today we are all off to DS1’s for afternoon tea to celebrate DD’s great news, and of course the Coronation.
I’ve made a lemon cheesecake that I’ll decorate with strawberries and blueberries. I’m not a great baker but the family all love this cheesecake.

Looking forward to the Concert this evening to round of this historic weekend.🇬🇧

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 10°C,

I'm pretty tired after a full on day yesterday. I was hardly home from the First Communion, when it was time to go back and open up again for the Saturday Vigil.
I enjoyed, what is usually a stressful day, because instead of being on my own, we had another two sacristans, whose company I enjoy.
We had a good laugh, when I said, I would be front of house, to keeps things running smoothly.
I caught up with ex pupils, who were there with their children and former pupils and student teachers, who are now staff members.
I met a former colleague, whose husband was a good friend of mine, from the education IT service. She told me, that her DH had been out with a friend and his son and the son had asked if he was Mrs Marydoll's friend. When he replied that he was, the young man replied, She was a real teacher! I think it was a complement.

My day was made, when wee Dollie reluctantly 😉) came to church, her delight at seeing me, filled my heart with joy. I was so proud of her., when a number of people stopped to talk to her and she responded to everyone, with a beaming smile.

Today I shall potter, too tired to do much else. Traditional Scottish steak pie for dinner, (DH's favourite), no Coronation dishes, nor celebrations here. I don't know of anyone celebrating the Coronation in our area.

We’re off out today towards Aberdeen, staying overnight and back home tomorrow. We’ll visit a couple of gardens and NT properties along the way so hoping it stays dry.

Good morning from a cloudy, damp part of La Sarthe.

I was delighted to find that the BBC was live streaming the Coronation so we were able to watch it after all. Neither of us felt too well (DH has shared his cold with me) but we opened a bottle of Saumur fizz with dinner to toast the health of HRH.

It sounds like some of you have some interesting events locally. I hope you are made welcome at church and find a kindred spirit at the tea party, grandMattie.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A thick fog again here and not very warm.
I spent yesterday morning on a beach at low tide with a foraging group which I've recently joined. It was fun and quite tiring for me on the slippery rocks.
Our expert leader identified a multitude of plants and seaweeds cooking some of them for delicious tastings.
Today Quaker meeting and a visit to my DMiL who will have watched the coronation and can tell me all about it

Good morning from Llangranog in Ceredigion. We are here for a week's holiday. I love this little village! Our fifth holiday here. We are going to the local church this morning and then doing a coastal walk hopefully to Aberporth and back. Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning from a grey, damp Colchester. We're promised sunshine and showers today. Touching 20 degrees later. We have a lunchtime street party and I was planning to wear blue jeans, red coat and white trainers. It may be too warm for this now but not warm enough for a summer dress.
DH is planning a roast beef dinner for this evening so we'd better not eat much at the lunch.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. We are going to Kew today to celebrate our granddaughter’s birthday belatedly. She was 7 years old on Tuesday. Younger son and daughter will be there too. There are one or two street parties happening in the village today but we won’t be here. The Coronation yesterday was an amazing spectacle but I must admit that some parts had me thinking of Titus Groan and Gormengast! Have a good day.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dreary damp South Yorkshire. Watched the coronation with DD and SiL (GS was revising, but had his phone on for the highlights) and then came home and spent the rest of the day quietly, catching up on the bits I had missed while travelling. This afternoon we are having our neighbour garden party so I have a couple of strawberry flans to finish off and a hot smoked salmon and asparagus quiche to make. Fingers crossed the weather dries up, or it won’t be just the quiche with a soggy bottom!

multicolour are you near trees - it could have been a squirrel, they are very vocal at this time of year.

I don’t know what is wrong with the dog, we tore around the walk at top speed - what usually takes an hour and a half took no more than an hour today. But I did notice two things - on the way out I could here a couple of frantic blackbirds and on further inspection, I could see a magpie hovering around - no doubt waiting for a baby blackbird breakfast for her young. But on the way back a fox was wandering around at the edge of the wood, and the same? Magpie was hoping behind it grabbing its tale and irritating the fox who no doubt was looking for a tasty baby magpie breakfast for her cubs.

Don’t know what woke me up it sounded like a strange bird outside my window wish I could have seen it by my black out blind was still down and I can’t quite reach it from the position of my bed

I’m off to church this morning with a dear friend who picks me up she’s wonderful

I saw the moderator of the Church of Scotland on tv yesterday presenting King Charles with a bible it was a proud moment for us Scot’s it’s all part of history now I think this was a first and the stone of destiny will be coming back home

An enjoyable if sedentary day yesterday. Not sure what today will bring. Mr C says we must begin preparation for a change of flooring at the end of the week. Already? I’d like to get outside for a couple of hours in the promised sunshine. Perhaps we can do both.

We had a lovely afternoon at our neighbourhood get together yesterday.

Today we will hopefully be doing some planting in the garden . I also have a birthday card to make and paint.

Dinner tonight will be plain meat and veg after all the rich food and nibbles yesterday.

Good morning from Bristol. It doesn’t look like rain although overcast.
Wasn’t the ceremony and pomp wonderful yesterday? I found it unexpectedly emotive. Let’s face it, the king is an old man; the ceremony momentous and very long, the crowns and robes so heavy…. Didn’t he do well? I had no idea there was so much regalia to present, etc. everything seems to have gone perfectly except the weather. Britain at its absolute best!
In the afternoon, I got a few more plants to fill my final pot - I have no garden but space to put a few large pots on my door step.
Today, I’m going to the local church - DD has warned the vicar of his new parishioner. In the afternoon I understand there is to be a coronation tea just outside my flat. It was mentioned by the warden during that ridiculous telephone interview, but I have heard nothing else. I would rather do anything, go anywhere than go through the inevitable third degree that will be inflicted on me. But… now I have joined the officially gaga, I must go through it. Courage Mattie.

Good morning Mick and all to come. The dawn chorus just gets earlier and earlier doesn’t it?
After yesterday’s couch-fest I am looking forward to D, SIL and their little boys coming up from London for lunch plus SIL’s parents who live only 10 miles away. Whether we can be outside is debatable as everything is very soggy but it should stay fair at least. Coronation Chicken of course.

The dog has been awake for an hour and I’m refusing to budge until 6am, so it is a stand off at the moment.

Must do something that involves physical movement today after sitting for hours watching the tv.

Gardening should do it as well as walking the blimmin’ dog.
