I will watch it for the stupidity of it all. They wouldn't let Zelensky make a speech because it being too political but isn't the contest political anyway.
I was in two minds whether to bother as Far From the Madding Crowd is on BBC 2. I read the book as a teenager and saw the original film in 1967 with Julie Christie, Terence Stamp and Alan Bates. The one on tv tonight stars Carey Mulligan also an excellent version.

We are watching in Benalmadena. Our holiday hotel TV doesn't have BBC1 so we are watching the Spanish channel with the sound off, audio via BBC Radio 2 on my Kindle Alexa! Our DS2 enjoys Eurovision so we''ll soon be whatsapping back and forth. Its a wee bit of light entertainment, but I still miss Terry Wogan.

BlueBelle Sat 13-May-23 20:19:27

Oh it’s sooooo not Volver

The scoring is a must watch, really it is.

If you haven't seen it for a few years, do tune in. Its changed dramatically. It's wonderful!!

I'll watch the last entry which is ours and then I might hang on for the scoring. Depends how efficiently it is managed.

BlueBelle Sat 13-May-23 19:35:48

Seems everything else had disappeared off all sides of the tv tonight 😵‍💫
I understand Casualty being a casualty but what’s happened to BGT ?

rafichagran Sat 13-May-23 19:28:21

50/50, I would watch it, but my partner is not interested, may watch something we both want to see.
I am surprised OP described it as stupidity, a relative of mine had a ticket to the semi final, she said it was amazing, Liverpool was buzzing, just pure enjoyment no trouble and Police were friendly. She drove 6 hours to get there and the same back, she said it was worth the drive, and it was spectacular.
To those who wish to watch I hope you enjoy it.

We all are.

Hoping for another catchy "Waterloo" to sing along with.

cornergran Sat 13-May-23 19:08:33

Nope. Not for us. Mr C is hunting a film to watch.

Fleurpepper Sat 13-May-23 18:46:26

No, Hardwick Hall and Bess for me. A lot more interesting. Elisabethan history is fascinating.

Freya5 Sat 13-May-23 18:44:58

Definitely no from me,Not watched it for about 10 years. Better things to do.

Fflaurie

Can't stand it any more, they won't let Zelensky address the audience, even though it's his country who won it last year, as 'it is a song competition, not for politics'
but they allow the obvious political voting.

but they allow the obvious political voting.

The voting is one thing - but allowing Zelensky a platform under the circumstances could cause all sorts of ramifications and fall-out. And even if it didn't, I'm sure it would encourage others to demand similar. Then the whole purpose and dynamics of the contest would be lost.

... not that I have any intentions of watching it. For me it's too formulaic, too 'rehearsed', too theatrical... and I'm bored with hearing the auto-tuned voices which all sound the same.... that initial whispering 'vocal-fry' which then develops into a shrieking crescendo... ugh!

No disrespect to those who are going to watch and enjoy all the razzmatazz and spectacle!

Grannyben Sat 13-May-23 18:24:02

I don't think it finishes until midnight. That rules me out

crazyH Sat 13-May-23 18:12:33

Yes

PoppyFlower Sat 13-May-23 18:03:31

No. Used to though. Too Euro-popy now, not enough of the weird and bizarre. Good coup for Liverpool though.

Harris27 Sat 13-May-23 18:00:03

Used to love it as a child but no too much for me now. I get bored.

Redhead56 Sat 13-May-23 17:54:40

No never been interested our friends have gone into town to soak up the atmosphere.

Oldbat1 Sat 13-May-23 17:54:21

No.

Shelflife Sat 13-May-23 17:52:10

It's not for me, but do hope others enjoy it. It is a happy occasion in a troubled world!

Luckygirl3 Sat 13-May-23 16:25:15

Nope - I will not be watching. It has become all about who can have the most outrageous costume or set - the music is the last consideration. And it is often very poor quality music to boot.

pascal30 Sat 13-May-23 16:19:59

no

Moonwatcher1904 Sat 13-May-23 16:00:17

I get bored with all the singing but always find it interesting to see who votes for who like HeavenLeigh.

timetogo2016 Sat 13-May-23 15:53:33

Not a chance in hell.

HeavenLeigh Sat 13-May-23 15:49:51

NanKate Sat 13-May-23 15:46:48
