What everyday irritations make you really grumpy?

Similar to Pink Quartz I hate seagulls, the mess they leave is difficult to clean up. But the stupid people who feel it's o.k. to feed them make me even more annoyed.

I quite like the seagulls (I live near the beach), and you can hear them at night sometimes. But I don't understand people who feed them bread, it is definitely not good for the gulls' digestion.

Litter, particularly at my local bus stop, where there’s a bin 2 or 3 paces away for anyone who isn’t too stupid, lazy and antisocial, to use it. 🤬

I agree, especially when you hold a door open for someone & they don't thank you for it!

Yes today walking on a popular walk on cliffs in Cornwall, we sometimes stood aside for folk - most smiled and said thank you, but the odd “ type” walked past as if we were invisible. I found that irritating.

It really is no good getting so wound up over things you have no control over (I need to practice this)

Think I must lead a charmed life as nothing much bothers me these days.

And the person in front of me in the supermarket queue who keeps dashing off to collect a few more items or whose companion arrives with an armful of extra goods instead of going to the end of the queue.

The person in front of me in the supermarket queue who doesn’t bother to put a divider behind their shopping (trivial, I know) , and on the way home any driver who doesn’t acknowledge my pulling over to let them pass. Jacob Rees Mogg.

Illegal (and so uninsured) e-scooters.
People who lazily park nowhere near the white line, in the middle of 2 spaces.
Lorry drivers who park on double yellows to unload, without a care for others.
Blue badge holders who park near corners, impeding drivers' ability to see other traffic, when they're pulling out of a side road.

Media types who attempt to speak to the nation with a poor grasp of the English language: 'on their behalf' when they mean 'on their part' or 'begs the question' when they mean 'raises the question'. Makes my flesh crawl as an ex-English language teacher. Or maybe I should get out more...........

It's so easy to get irritated by seemingly trivial things as you get older. But - sometimes those trivial things are straws that break the camel's back. We cope with all sorts of problems; all the things that make life awkward and 'difficult' but put a 'sensible' face on and just deal with them.

... and then, along comes a minor little irritation which under normal circumstances, one would just dismiss with an 'eye-roll', but which, coupled with all the other irritations, causes an explosion of wrath out of all proportion to its importance.

Here is my 'straw'... people who say, or write, "end of" as a finale to their observation or comment.

It's trivial, but very, very annoying.

Philip Scoffield, adverts, cyclists riding past shouting to each other, masses of homework given by teachers on strike days,
football presenters,tittle tattling, loud “music” coming from cars,Starmer, magpies,workmen having no sense of time.

I get a bit irritated by so many things these days! Our village has three roads in and out, but at present two, plus the High Street, have road works along them , with traffic lights, but often you go along and they just turn all the lights to red while they do something in the middle of the road-no thought for those of us who might need to be somewhere. Why can’t they put a sign up saying the road will be closed at such and such a time for 15 minutes? It would give the option of going another way round. (If you can find one!)

And the other thing that’s driving me batty at the moment is the tree outside our house. It’s really overgrown and in the summer the branches touch our bedroom window. It makes it really dark indoors. But the council won’t do anything. It’s some kind of maple, so at this time of year our car, garden etc. is covered in syrupy spots, which are sticky and hard to remove. The windscreen is a mess, no matter how much you try to clean it. And to add to all that, at the moment it’s dropping little leaves everywhere which stick to shoes and get walked into the house. As we have a tiny cottage we have no hallway, so the mess gets walked straight into the lounge.

But I’m quite laidback really 😂😂

People who keep saying 'like' when they're talking.

I love the noisy gardens of summer. Brings me joy knowing that people are having fun but don't light bonfires while I have washing out or I may have to hunt you down.!!

Enjoying the natural smells in the park, cut grass, or decaying autumn leaves, and then a jogger runs past leaving a trail of some horrible deodorant or hairspray. Also in the park, people leaving their dogs off the lead and allowing them to go in the lake and bother, or worse, the waterfowl.

Drivers who do not dib ie acknowledge with a wave or raised hand when I pull over on our narrow country roads to let their vehicle pass. My language would make a trooper blush when this happens! Why is it the owners of big four wheel drives who merrily drive past the passing space on their side of the road forcing me (in my vw beetle) to pull up on the grass verge as they speed by? One woman in her massive vehicle did this repeatedly and never once acknowledged that I was giving way until one morning I had enough. I saw her mighty vehicle in the distance and, sure enough, she ignored the passing space on her side of the road and headed towards me. I stopped my car in the middle of the road, smiled at her and indicated politely that the passing space was a few metres behind her. How I smiled when she had no option but reverse to let me pass. I don't mind pulling over but she never acknowledged me the times I did.

The constant roar of mowers, hedge trimmers, strimmers and power washers, the horrid smoke from barbeque lighter fluid - followed by the smell of burning flesh - yuk.

I don't mind the children playing, still the increasing volume of chattering, singing, shouting etc. from the drunk party set (until 2 am) is infuriating, car doors slamming, horns hooting, fireworks and frightened pets the absolute pits, sleep deprivation's depressing - so I now dread summer.

Being treated to someone else's music choice when I'm out in my garden. That's what headphones are for! Neighbours of ours spend all summer, until late at night, in their garden and we hear their choice of radio station, music, inane DJ chatter and adverts for 'hernia repair in your lunch hour' constantly.

People who bump their car (or more often their van) up onto the pavement to park, thus blocking it completely and forcing pedestrians out into the road. Often only half the car or van is on the pavement so pedestrians cant get past, but cars on the road cant either! Why would you do this? It seems to be particularly bad in our village where you see Mums with buggies and toddlers having to step into streams of traffic because some idiot has stopped outside the chip shop or the sandwich shop and cant be bothered to drive to a parking space only slightly further along the High Street. Grrrr.
