Just popping in to see how everyone is.

Sounds like a really good excuse for a couple of big glasses of wine, neine

We are also clearing out kitchen cupboards, yia, but we are not moving just have the kitchen replaced. Is it worth it? It better be.

Hello All.... I'm lying flat on the bed waiting for the pain killers to much in... Thinks were a bit iffy after Thursday's class and gardening and then on Friday. Luna (dog 3 ) escaped chasing we know not what... We couldn't see her in the field and a it was 11pm I climbed over the barbed wire fence..and discovered she was on our neighbours pond...DOH walked her back via the road but I had to climb back over the fence to open the big gate to let them in.... Easier said than done ..I got caught with my leg trapped on the wire ( cut my groin) and the only way I could get my leg down was to bend like a demented ballerina across it grab the bottom of my leggings and yank hard. Everything hurt...but apparently I could have easily dislocated the newish hip. It never occurred to me that could happen so I got lucky on that score. I have no shame in saying that even though it was nearly midnight I had 2 large glasses of Chenin Blanc to anaesthetise it all. Needless to say I didn't feel too great on my retreat day yesterday. It was based on the Holy Spirit and initially I struggled as everything hurt but as the day wore on it eased a little and after lunch we were encouraged to walk with another person and chat...or we could go alone which I did...I visited the park in the County town which I hadn't been to before...it is really pretty and lifted my spirits. Today we have both had the deep massage and electro treatments....hence why we are flat out on the bed at the moment. I made 3 loaves of my favourite Rachel Allen bread and they are cooking while I rest.
Foxy...you will love being in the kitchen. Always a welcome here for everyone.
Bread is ready....
Wishing everyone the best possible Sunday evening.

It’s been raining here in Inverness so I’ve been tackling the cleaning jobs, I’m just having a break now and the kettles on. I had a lovely FaceTime call with DS earlier and caught up on all his news. DH is busy doing a ‘kitchen project’ of a new splashback behind the taps and worktop etc…I’m not sure how it’ll work out but will see… 🤣
Well done to Mr J in his golf tournament Jax 👏
Hoping soop is doing ok and back with us soon
Yia hope the bruises fade soon, sounds like you’re really busy but don’t overdo it
You too sound really busy nannytopsy hope the pressure washing is going well!

Good afternoon Kitcheners.Thinking of you Soop🌹

Hello Alli welcome to the kitchen.

Will look for the book Sue,I found the village of Eyam fascinating.

Hope grand dog is happier today Grandmarie.

I’m still black and blue but being on steroids I bruise very easily.Never mind I lived to tell the tale.We are clearing out cupboards and drawers every day and next week will tackle the wardrobes.😂
Garlic and honey chicken for dinner.
Enjoy your evening all.Thoughts as always for Urms.

Jaxjacky Sun 16-Jul-23 09:49:49

You have an exciting life Nannytopsy 🙂.
Glad to read your back is improved foxy. Hope today ann you are recovered and have gentle things planned.
You sound very relaxed Grandmabatty it’s well deserved.
MrJ is revering from a golf tournament yesterday in high winds with showers, he came second, so very chuffed.
A walk then tennis today, enjoy your days.

Nannytopsy Sun 16-Jul-23 09:14:29

LLFL we enjoy Beck too, but we have been a bit impatient this series and are ahead of the TV. I find having to concentrate on subtitles stops me falling asleep!
We don’t have a service in our church this week ( only one a month) but I have got to let someone in from the Bat Conservation Trust. We need roof repairs and they must be consulted. It has taken months to get this far with the Diocese - they are so slow and pedantic. I hope the roofer is a bit quicker.
I hope you are a bit more rested Ann and that soop is feeling better. Do you have your new computer, dear lady?
We did the cupboard under the stairs yesterday, so it’s the pressure washer today. Oh joy!

Hello everyone, I’m in bed and about to read a book about the Georgians. OH was out all day seeing to his bees and having a social. He took along a cake I had made - white chocolate and lemon. I spent the day doing admin, laundry, my ironing and reading the papers. OH made fish and chips for dinner and then we watched the first episode of Beck, which I really enjoy. I’m thinking of all of you who are suffering in various ways.

Foxygloves Sat 15-Jul-23 22:12:27

Good evening all Kitcheners
After my “panic” of yesterday I have been blessedly pain free today. Amitryptaline plus my shiatsu massager I think. I’ve even used it on the arch of my dodgy plantar fasciitis foot and it has helped there.
So it’s off to Buxton Opera Festival and La Somnambula tomorrow!
Gentle hugs to those who need them, you know who you are and those who know me will know I am also sending special thoughts to those in great distress.

annsixty Sat 15-Jul-23 21:34:54

Hi everyone, just home from my meal which was lovely but oh am I tired?
I came straight to bed with my iPad.
The weather has been awful, gales and rain.
Oh for some Spanish sun, I fear I will never experience that again.
I have had to tell my friend today, no more trips more than a few miles, her driving is awful.
Some people I would tell the family, not hers for many reasons.
Ageing is certainly not for wimps as they say but so happy to still be here.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 15-Jul-23 21:32:59

Grannmarie it is sorry hopefully tomorrow I will artfully arrange the dress and post picture.

I have had a thoroughly lazy day, reserving my energy for next week when we have two teenage GC for the week whilst our son and his gorgeous wife party in Ibiza. If only I had the energy for a week of partying, one night is all I can manage nowadays and then a week to recover 🤣🤣🤣

brook2704 Sat 15-Jul-23 21:18:24

Hi 👋 grannmarie so lovely of you to give everyone a mention! Hope you’re having a nice relaxing evening, take care x

Grannmarie Sat 15-Jul-23 20:20:18

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!

Enjoy your evening at the Marina, Grandmabatty, it's one of our favourite places in Benalmadena. ⛵
Glad you enjoyed your break, Annsixty.
Happy anniversaries to Scapa and Nannytopsy 🥂
Well done to Imogen🌟 and *Hulahoop's GD*🌟
I think I'm smitten by your PT too, SueD, well done to you and your DH for your commitment. I'm struggling to manage my physio exercises.
Hello 👋 Ali, I hope things improve soon for you.
Hello 👋 Kitty, so nice to see you here.
Brook, SB is my Friday night treat too.🥂
Hope your back improves soon, Foxygloves.
Dustyangel, I'm glad your daughter got home OK.
Hello 👋 Grannygravy, is your posh frock back from the dry cleaners? We'd love to admire it. 👗
Dear Soop, I'm hoping and praying that each day finds you a wee bit brighter than the day before, baby steps.

DH and I are relaxing in front of Pointless Celebrities, after a busy family afternoon. The Wee Boy and his Mummy and Daddy came to visit Granddog🐕, DS3 joined us too, but I think the poor dog thought that his family were coming too.. poor thing, he's still missing them. Everybody made a fuss of him and he enjoyed a bowl of tasty leftovers from our roast chicken dinner.

TOYA, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow. Take care. NNGB. 💕🙏

brook2704 Sat 15-Jul-23 20:03:23

Wishing Scapal and nannytopsy a very Happy Anniversary! 🥂💐🎉💕
Good that your DD could pick up Imogen Jax and get her home
It stayed dry most of the day here until about 4ish, we’ve had non stop rain since. We got some gardening done earlier and a bit of shopping. DH tried a bit of driving in a quiet car park but doesn’t think he’s ready just yet. It’s not quite 6 weeks since his knee replacement and he’s doing well with most things but we’ll leave driving for a bit longer. He did get the bus into town a couple of days ago so he’s not completely relying on me being his personal chauffeur 🙄
Good to hear you’re home safely ann, enjoy the Italian tonight with your DGD and friend and hopefully you’ll get a rest tomorrow
A very well done to your clever DGD hula 👏
So lovely to hear from you grandmabatty and good to know you’re all having a good time - hope dinner was good and enjoy a walk around the marina 😎

Grandmabatty Sat 15-Jul-23 17:40:45

Good evening Kitcheners. Just a quick visit before the family and I head out for dinner. We've had a lovely day. Lots of pool time and both boys are living their best life. A long siesta where I lay and read in the air conditioned apartment. Happy anniversary to Nannytopsy and Scapa. Oh Annsixty I have a friend like that! We no longer go away as we would fall out. Heading to the marina Grannmarie. Have a good evening Kitcheners

annsixty Sat 15-Jul-23 13:24:26

.
Good afternoon all from a very tired annsixty.
My break wore me out, I enjoyed it but so tiring.
My friend proved to be extremely hard work for 3 full days.
We were very lucky with the weather, no rain at all during the day but overcast a lot of the time and quite windy at times.
Sorry poor soop is still down, pick up soon dear lady.
Tonight my GD is taking me out for an Italian meal at our favourite restaurant, her friend has inched her way in but Idont mind, she is going through a lot.
I must sort out something to wear from my limited wardrobe.
Very best wishes to all the poorlies and their carers.
Have the best day you can.

Happy Anniversary to both Scapa1 and Nannytopsy I hope you all have a lovely day, whatever you end up doing 🥂
brook my daughter picked Imogen up and got her home.

Nannytopsy Sat 15-Jul-23 09:14:40

Thank goodness you didn’t say the C word Foxy! I hope your back is better.
I didn’t realise it was so long since I popped into the kitchen - there were 59 posts to read! It’s been a WI week so rather hectic. Our July meeting was a safari supper on Wednesday and last night there was a social event for presidents and secretaries. There was an ice breaker where we stood approximately where we were born, using the room as a map IYSWIM. I found a lady from the same road as me, in the Black Country. We were no 83, she was 55. We both moved to Leicester ( hello kitty!) and now to Suffolk. What a coincidence!
I hope you are feeling more like it soop and that the holiday makers are all enjoying themselves.
We are supposed to spend today pressure washing the patio - such a romantic way to spend our 45th anniversary. I too was a child bride Scapa! If it rains - and that looks likely - it’s the cupboard under the stairs! 😱
Enjoy your day everyone.

Foxygloves Fri 14-Jul-23 23:25:26

Thank you for the back spasm good wishes. I have been happy to send PMs to 2 people who were interested in my massager. I had worried that like the foot spa, the chicken brick and the ice cream maker, it might have been a “spur of the moment buy “ AKA a white elephant, but I’m grateful for it now.
Wondering if I should be getting my sprouts on soon- it’s feeling very Autumnal!

Scapa1 Fri 14-Jul-23 22:43:52

Our golden wedding anniversary today! How did we become this old? Although of course I was a child bride 🤣. Look at the hair!

brook2704 Fri 14-Jul-23 21:54:42

Welcome back Foxy and kitty good to see you both here. Hope your back is much better soon Foxy and Hi 👋 to Ali too
Blummin heck Jax poor Imogen, so is she still camping in the New Forest or safely home and dry now? Poor girl
I’m impressed with your PT SueD and well done with the workout especially after looking after the DGC today, I’d be exhausted!
As it’s Friday we did open a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc - not sure it really went with the curry but I enjoyed it anyhow 😀

SueDonim Fri 14-Jul-23 21:08:35

Both GC’s that should read.

SueDonim Fri 14-Jul-23 21:07:07

Hello Foxy. Backache is so debilitating, I hope it mends soon. If you’re able to tolerate ibuprofen, the long-acting version is very good for back and other muscle/joint pain. Tesco and Superdrug now sell their own version which is much cheaper than the ‘brand leader’. One or two tablets lasts for 12hrs and I find the relief kicks in within 30 minutes.

Welcome back, Kitty. smile

I’m glad your dd is home, Dusty. Where is ‘here’? Obvs not the UK at 30deg! 🥶

That’s probably a wise decision, Jax. My dd and her DoE group had to be taken off the hills by Mountain Rescue on her Silver expedition. Worse still, a member of the rescue team was one of her teachers! 😳😳😳

Today turned out to be double trouble. My dd arrived out of the blue this morning to say hello, with GD in tow. Of course, as GS was going to be here this afternoon GD couldn’t possibly miss out so she stayed on while mum went home to work in peace and quiet. We collected GS and all went for a snack ie to M&S cafe. Then home and they played in the garden for a bit. GS took himself upstairs for his nap and dh & I had our personal training session, with GD supervising. 😂 Fair play for our PT he took it all in his stride. He even wowed GD by lifting her up above his head with one hand! She’s smitten with him now and wants to join in next week too. We’ll see about that!

Then we took both GD home and came back here starving hungry and ready to have our meal. Since then, it’s been raining and I think is set in for the night. At least it’ll alleviate the water shortage although doesn’t bode well for a local fete tomorrow.

A peaceful evening to you all. Xxx

Ali23 Fri 14-Jul-23 20:56:54

Just popping in, in the hope that you’re feeling a bit lighter today Soop, and to send hugs to everyone with problems of one kind or another.
Life is throwing us all curved balls at the moment. 🙏 that things improve soon.
Even on a bad day this kitchen is a comforting olace. Thank you, Soop, for that.
