Thank you for being truly good, supportive friends.
[sunshine} and much more besides.
I’m so sorry blossoming. Don’t apologise, please. It must all be overwhelming just now.
. Please care for yourself.
I’m so sorry Blossoming you must be devastated.
I don’t know what to say, only that I’m pleased you had some respite over the last few days 💐.
Just a quick visit. I want to thank you all for your support over a very difficult few days.
I had a lovely birthday, being up on the fells in the sunshine is soothing for my soul. Lunch with family yesterday was wonderful, although I wasn’t feeling at my best.
I have awoken this morning to the news that another friend has passed away suddenly. I don’t know where I am with this, I’m shocked.
Sorry to bring more sadness to our lovely kitchen.
Hi to all kitchen pals, it’s been another hot day in Cambridge but with a bit of cloud so the sun hasn’t been as intense.
annsixty, I’d second what others have said, sometimes I feel that I’d rather stay at home but if I actually make myself go out I always feel better for it afterwards. Llandudno is one of my favourite places, even if it’s wet and windy you might be able to sit somewhere looking at the sea and the waves. And maybe a special lunch somewhere different to celebrate your birthday. A change of scenery works wonders for me, hope it’s the same for you x
We’ve also had bubbles here today grandmabatty, DGS2 has a new bubble gun that he really enjoys playing with. We went for a walk this morning then the local park this afternoon where DGS1 joined in a game of football. DD2 and SiL are making the most of my visit and going out again this evening. I don’t mind at all as it means I get the DGSs to myself and I can change into my pjs early 🤣
Another busy day for you tomorrow grandmabatty. I’ll be travelling home tomorrow, DH seems to has been fine whilst I’ve been away but I think I’d best check up on him and make sure he’s doing his exercises
Hoping you feel a bit better soon hula and the physio can suggest something helpful. Enjoy your break away at the seaside
Grannygravy it sounds like you had a wonderful time. Annsixty I was very bad at talking myself out of things. Now I say yes rather than no and force myself to go to things. I'm sure you will enjoy yourself when you're there. Hulahoop that's rotten. Pain brings you down, doesn't it? Brook you are having a lovely family time.
I had a morning of the boys - blowing bubbles, watering plants, playing inside and out -and I'm tired this afternoon. The humidity is draining. So the ironing I should have done, is still lying on the dining room table. Tomorrow is a very early day. Up at five and at dd's for half six then both boys again all day. So I'll have an early night.
I haven’t actually but I do have one of those ice pack things you can Velcro on which I used after my TKR, I will look it out .
I know I should make the effort, I am sinking into lethargy.
Thankyou for the kick up the btm although it is still very sore😜😉
annsixty you must do what is right for you, but I will add some of my best times in life have been when I have gone somewhere/done something that I didn’t want to.
Pain of any sort is debilitating, have you tried alternating heat packs and ice packs on your poorly back?
Hello everyone.
It is so cheering to read of so many getting away but I am due to go on Tuesday and I just don’t want to.
How awful is that?
I am due to go to Llandudno for 3 nights with my friend across the road.
She is not one you would want to let down!!
My back is still painful, still taking painkillers regularly but mostly I am just so tired and lethargic all the time from getting up to going to bed.
As well, the weather forecast is awful, rain everyday and Llandudno is not a place for indoor attractions.
Is is my birthday on Wednesday and I suddenly feel very old indeed.
I know I must either cheer up or take my courage in both hands and tell my friend I cannot go.
We have not paid anything and can cancel until tomorrow.
End of my moaning, have the best day you can everyone.
When it’s your life and something is affecting it hulahoop it’s by no means small or trivial.
You must be disappointed and fed up, hopefully the physio call will help.
Enjoy the seaside, big breaths of ozone!
Hi everyone I hadn't posted for a while ,feeling a bit down injection in my hip hasn't worked I have a phone appt with physio next week my probs seem small to some of yours ,all the bad news people are hearing .It's good to see some of you getting away ,we are going for a couple of days at the coast to cheer me up I love being beside the sea. Take care ladies x
Good Morning everyone. That sounds like I’m on the wrong thread! What a hot and sticky night. Thank goodness for the fan. It has just clouded over, so I think our forecast rain is going to arrive today. We are meeting old friends this morning at a Hosta nursery, then heading for a pub lunch. I really need to tidy the garden as our singing group are gathering here tomorrow night for cheese and wine. If it’s dry, we hope to sit outside.
I hope your computer is sorted very soon soop. Are you glued to the tennis? We have watched some but I wish we could see the cricket!
Enjoy the day everyone.
Enjoy your very well deserved break away Yia hope you can relax and recharge your batteries
It had forecast rain here this afternoon but we only got a few drops. We were lucky as DD1 had booked an outside table at a gorgeous pub in Granchester. Apart from the really good food there was a children’s playground for the boys which meant that the adults could sit and chat over a few drinks and everyone was happy.
Good to hear your mum was a bit brighter this evening grandmabatty
Sounds like the summer ball was good GG13, I’d love to see a picture too please!
Good luck with the crossword Jax
Sending much love your way soop ❤️❤️ take care lovely lady
Get you GG13, sounds wonderful, pictures please? If you can stay awake 🙂
Just popped in, hope you are all ok.
I am exhausted, I was still dancing at 2am this morning (summer ball) definitely having an early night.
Soop we love you to bits. Jaxjacky enjoy doing the crossword. Yiayia you have a lovely break.
I've just visited mum and she was much brighter and more responsive. She's still a bit doolally and thought the woman opposite was one of the stars from 'Some Mother's Do Have Them.' I've made a watermelon and feta salad to go with my roast salmon. Have a good evening Kitcheners
You deserve a restful break Yia I hope you enjoy your days away.
When are you off neine?
A nothing much day, very humid and we’ve just had some rain, called in to our local, chatted to people we know, now I’m cooking, the cricket is on.
Not sure what’s on the square box later, we’ll find something.
I’ve got the crossword from today’s paper to start
Enjoy your evening all.
We love you too Soop please take care.🌹
Hope your having a peaceful birthday Blossoming.💐🎂
All fingers crossed crossed that you get a good response on Monday Corner.
We are going away tomorrow for a few days.I think we need a break. Our solicitor is waiting for an information pack on freehold etc, more red tape.
It’s very hot and stormy here hope it’s cooler to sleep tonight.
Have a good evening everyone.
I love you lot and thank you for your understanding. Bless you.
Hello again all. I’m sitting under a tree on a deckchair in Green Park in London. I’m not meeting my son for another hour or so. I got a train from Oxford easily but Paddington station looked like a nightmare. Hoards of people waiting for trains, many of which were cancelled. Who knows what it will be like this evening
Have a good day.
Hello Kitchen people! It’s lovely to be home. I’m a bit kna ***d as I did all the driving. I popped over to see my neighbour who fed the cats. She really enjoys doing it as she is unable to have pets of her own. An early night as I’m off to London tomorrow and OH is going to see his bees. I wonder if they have missed him? I do hope those of you who are suffering angst can have support.
Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s been a scorcher of a day here in Cambridge
I’m just having a 5minute breather whilst the lively DGS are watching a bit of tv before baths … I picked them up from school, took them for ice cream Friday, then the park and then home. DD1 and SiL went off to London early afternoon to the Billy Joel concert in Hyde Park this evening …I’m exhausted already but happy that I’m being useful!
I’m another one who always has to shop around when house and car insurances are due. I’ve found that sometimes the existing provider price matches another quote but sometimes not - always worth a try though!
I’m cautiously optimistic for your DH corner, let’s hope the full team is available for him and you find out for definite on Monday.
That was a really early start this morning grannmarie, you’ll be tired I bet!
All chores and walks were finished by early afternoon, it’s sweltering, I hope we get rain tomorrow.
I’m hunkered down with the blinds shut, MrJ is playing bowls, reports of flying ants locally although not here yet.
My house insurance renewal was reduced, but that was in February, both cars have insurance due in the Autumn, that’ll be half a day written off researching.
A little progress corner at least they were frank with you, but still in limbo.
soop the kitchen embraces sadness and happiness in equal measure 💐
I hope Blossoming is having a pleasant birthday, if rather reflective.
My sincere condolences to soop and Blossoming such a sad time for you.
Mixed day here. A bit further forward hospital-wise if still uncertain. A very kind woman in admissions explained the surgeons are holding back from cancellations while they try to assess if there are enough consultants who can and will cover for registrars. She wasn’t overly hopeful as Mr C’s surgery is a long one ‘needing a full team’. She expects the definitive answer on Monday. Thank you all for your kindness, please keep your fingers crossed. I think the biggest shock would be if the surgery went ahead!
New patio doors and window installed with the minimum of fuss - if the maximum of mess. It cheers me just to see the doors and what joy to be able to actually reach the handle on the kitchen window.
I’m sorry you’re not feeling yourself soop, sometimes life’s pressures weigh us down, hope tomorrow is a brighter day.
Hope today has been manageable blossoming. A mixed one I’m sure.
Our car insurance renewal isn’t until October, I’m dreading it already. We commiserate with our elder granddaughter at the other end of the age scale, we share struggles to find insurance that won’t trigger bankruptcy. Age at either end of the spectrum seems to add so much to insurance costs.
House insurance shot up last month. Even our magician of a local broker could find nothing more reasonable. Apparently it’s the proximity to the river. Such a shame and totally unnecessary as a flood plain has been created along the far bank to ensure nothing this side can be flooded, or not by the river
Best be off. Still have ‘stuff’ to put back into place. Who knew replacement patio doors would involve moving half the world around.
Enjoy your evening as best you can everyone.
Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.
Thinking especially of Soop, Blossoming, Niene, YiaYia and any one else who is grieving, 💕🙏💐
Birthday wishes, Blossoming🎂, I hope you have the best day possible in the circumstances.
Enjoy your break, YiaYia, you are wise to get away for a change of scene, it will do you both good.
Charleygirl and Grandmabatty, I know what you mean about car insurance. Every time I get my renewal, I phone my company, AA, and say that I'm delighted with their service ( they were wonderful when I had a claim 5 years ago) and want to stay with them, but cannot afford the increased premium. They have always brought it down to near the previous year's cost. It's worth a phone call.
I'm hoping and praying that the Corners get word soon. 🙏🤞
Granddog and I are dozing 😴🐕 on the sofa, he woke me at 20 to 6 this morning, we were out for a wee walk at 6. Dearie me!
TOYA, knitting is ready for Andy Murray... Good job it's a simple pattern.
