Well done Nannytopsy you deserve to be smug, potatoes are my carb weakness; your poor DH, but he could have fallen in something worse!
Yia I’m hoping for you 🤞.
MrJ rarely cooks brook not one of his strengths, but he has plenty of others.
Drizzly, nothingey rain here, still hoping for more.

brook2704 Wed 28-Jun-23 21:20:06

Well done nannytopsy 10lbs in 10 days is a lot! 👏

brook2704 Wed 28-Jun-23 21:17:52

Good evening kitchen pals, after Workout Wednesday at the gym today I’m definitely whacked! I enjoyed it though, the dreaded circuits class, followed by dance fit, a short 30 min break and then into the pool for Aqua aerobics! I’ve been struggling to keep my eyes open this evening so I’ll definitely be having an early night soon
Your DH sounds lovely Jax, so good when they help out isn’t it! My DH made the dinner tonight, then called me into the conservatory with everything ready on the table 😀
I’m keeping everything crossed for you Yia
DS is on holiday in Norway with his partner, he’s so good at keeping in touch and has been sending me stunning photos of the fjords throughout the day.
Thanks yo your DH for the ginger cookies Blossoming

Nannytopsy Wed 28-Jun-23 21:14:12

Hello everyone!
Despite a slow start to the day, we walked the SiL’s dogs, then picked the strawberries. DH’s knee gave way in the middle of that job and he ended up spreadeagled in a very ripe strawberry patch. He looked and smelled like DGS 2 after he has fed himself with strawberries! 🤣🤣 . Once he was sorted, I tidied the long, shady border, tied in plants and spread Strulch to keep the slugs off. Feeling smug now, if hot and tired. We have had a few spots of rain but it’s very dark and we are forecast lots of rain.
I think you have had plenty in Scotland but we are desperate in Suffolk!
Fingers crossed for you Yiayia and love and hugs to everyone who needs them.
We have been avoiding carbohydrates and I have lost about 10lbs in the last 10 days or so, making a total of 15. Smug!
It is encouraging when it works!
Hope you all have a good evening.

Yiayia4 Wed 28-Jun-23 17:57:02

Good evening Kitcheners.
Jax you’ve had quite a scare time to take it easy.
Neine love the sound of your wedding hats please share.

No news on move yet, survey was done late yesterday so will be a few days. Our solicitor is moving on with paperwork.🤞
Hello to everyone not mentioned have a nice evening.
Urms and her DH always in my thoughts.💐

Pittcity Wed 28-Jun-23 17:03:29

Soop I second those who suggest you buy a cheap tablet rather than a new computer.
They can do most things that a computer can.
If you fear losing pictures and files, somebody can get those put into the cloud where you can access them from the tablet.

Jaxjacky Wed 28-Jun-23 15:27:40

I’d be lost if my iPad let me down soop I was bad enough when my phone went in to be fixed a couple of weeks ago!
MrJ, as he’s got a day off, has very kindly sorted out some garden bits and bobs for me.
Thank you all for your kind words, there are many in a far worse situation. It just catches you out doesn’t it when you suddenly find your situation changes?
Enjoy your afternoon, I’ll catch up later.

Blossoming Wed 28-Jun-23 15:21:24

That’s a shame Soop it was a lovely photo. We have just had a terrific thunderstorm, fortunately very short. My ‘get up and go’ has definitely gone, so I’m giving up housework for today. MrB has brought coffee and ginger cookies from the bakery, feel free to partake.

soop Wed 28-Jun-23 15:16:06

Jax listen to your body. Be kind to yourself. You are precious.flowers

Mr Soop continues to access the pros and cons of the suggested replacement for my tiresome computer. I suppose that I am being unreasonable. I have had five years of moderately good service out of my present computer. It's just that, on a bad day, I have a tendency to become border-line manic. hmm

soop Wed 28-Jun-23 15:09:44

Thank you Gransnet for removing my photo. I was told (after sharing it) that it was not allowed. A great pity.

Grannmarie Wed 28-Jun-23 14:04:41

What wonderful, valuable skills to learn Soop, thanks for the photo, what a handsome boy, and the dog is a fine specimen too!🤣
Odd things are happening on my phone with GN, now the bar at the bottom which shows Active, watching, I'm on etc... has now disappeared??? I started a Popmaster TV thread on TV, films etc and it has stayed there, hasn't joined chat/ active as far as I can see. It's a mystery...

I lost two long posts for the Kitchen yesterday, now I can't remember all the details.

Neine, how nice to be asked to do your friend's wedding flowers , I'm sure you'll do a great job. Your colour choices are what we have in church just now, very fresh looking. Your DOH sounds like a really lovely man, I'm so glad you have found each other. 💕
Annsixty, you are a good support to your DGD'S friend, I'm sure she appreciates being welcome in your home.
Jaxjacky, hope you feel more like yourself soon. Side effects from necessary medicines can be discombobulating. Be gentle with yourself.
YiaYia, I hope all goes well with your survey and you can start planning your move.🤞
Grandmabatty, you have amazing stamina and you cope wonderfully with your wee boys. Can't believe your DGS2 is approaching the terrible twos already! I hope your Mum is in good spirits this evening, you are attending her well.
Cornergran, hello 👋! I hope Mr C.is comfortable and the operation date arrives soon.
Brook, school's out now in North Lanarkshire, I hope the children get some nice weather for the holidays, this week has been quite rainy. Congratulations to your DGD on her dancing.

Dusty, I hope ycan keep cool and comfortable in your high temperatures, certainly too warm for housework! I'm ashamed to admit I don't do as much housework as I used to, even when I was working full time. If I know visitors are coming, then it gets blitzed!
SueD, good to hear from you. I hope your DS is keeping well.
Hello, Blossoming and Ladyleftfieldlover!
Thinking of Urms and her DH, and all with illness, worries or sorrow. 💕🙏💕
Please forgive me if I haven't mentioned you by name, I read all the posts, but my memory lets me down these days.
Hope you have the best Wednesday possible.

dustyangel Wed 28-Jun-23 13:58:59

Oh soop they will have so much fun!
Lovely photo by the way.

Jaxjacky take care of yourself now. Rest if possible. Happy grandchildren make happy grans Brook.

brook2704 Tue 27-Jun-23 18:34:48

Take it easy Jax, I hope your body adjusts to the new meds soon 💐

brook2704 Tue 27-Jun-23 18:33:39

Hi to all my kitchen pals, just put a Charlie Brigham mousakka in the oven and sat down for a rest. We picked up both DGC from school and took them home, they’d just found out which classes they were going into next year and who their new teachers are, thankfully both seemed happy!
The weather has changed here now, quite a bit cooler and with rain most of this afternoon. Hopefully it’ll warm up a bit again soon
Please post the pictures neine and I’m sure we’ll all have a look
Hope you get a very well earned rest this evening grandmabatty

Jaxjacky Tue 27-Jun-23 18:33:26

Hi all, a busy two days sorting out lifts from my stint on the voluntary phone yesterday, we had quiz last night too.
Housework, remember selective hearing that your Gran had? I have a similar affliction with housework!
Well done to your GD brook what joy, for her to participate and family watching.
Grandmabatty you need a large slurp of something and a patience badge.
Quiet evening here, these drug thinners wash me out a tad.
Enjoy your time tonight.

Blossoming Tue 27-Jun-23 18:13:47

Hope the computer problem is resolved soop.

I haven’t done very much today either cornergran, I really must do better tomorrow.

The garden seems to be coming along nicely SueD, I haven’t seen many bees this year other than the ones on the fuchsia.

Glad you enjoyed your lunch LadyLFL. Hope you have a good rest this evening Grandmabatty.

I must go check the cupboards and write a shopping list for MrB, laters! grin

Grandmabatty Tue 27-Jun-23 17:54:26

Good afternoon kitcheners. Oh boy, am I tired. Dgs2 decided to only nap for an hour instead of two. He decided screaming when he wanted something/didn't want something/was told no was the way to go. He's 19 months so heading into the terrible twos with a passion. Dgs1 needed cajoling to help tidy up and then fell off my bed while jumping (unknown to me)and bumped his head. It's been a very long day and I need peace. I'm resting at the moment before I make dinner. Ladyleftfieldlover phew! No temper tantrums from your friend. Suedonim I'm seeing lots of bees too which is heartening. Soop I'll keep my fingers crossed about the computer. Cornergran I'll keep my fingers crossed for your dh's operation going ahead when it should too. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 27-Jun-23 17:37:49

Hello everyone. I had lunch out today with my ‘sometimes behaves badly in restaurants’ friend! She was on her best behaviour and we had a delicious lunch. Her seventh grandchild is due any day so she was excited. Have a good evening kitchen people.

SueDonim Tue 27-Jun-23 12:36:06

Brook your Gd’s dance show sounds like a real success!

Hope the survey went well, Yia. 🤞

Neine, friendships - virtual and real - are just lifesavers, aren’t they? flowers Do give us a fashion show of the hats! I’ve just ordered a new sun hat. That’s why it’s pouring with rain today. 😂

You’re very kind to your GD’s friend, Annsixty. smile

Dustyangel my MIL never bothered much with housework. She always said a good layer of dirt kept the germs out. She lived in good health until her last year at 93 so maybe she was right!

The wait and delay must be wearing for you both, Cornergran. I hope the op happens soon.

We’re planning a trip down south next week to visit ds2 and family. I keep checking the long range weather forecast as I’ve said we won’t be going if there’s a heatwave! Thus far, that doesn’t look likely.

I haven’t done anything outstanding in the last few days but life seems to have been busy anyway. I’m very happy that my roses are taking off now and the green fly have abated (drowned in the rain?). The honeysuckle I bought last week seems very happy indeed and best of all, even these relatively few plants have brought bees to the garden. Dh isn’t a gardener but he’s bought himself a sunflower which he’s nurturing carefully and that seems have the bees fighting to access the nectar.

School finishes here for the summer on Thursday so I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of GD in the next few weeks.

Have a good day everyone! Xx

soop Tue 27-Jun-23 12:27:06

Neine Yes, we would like to see pics of whatever hat you choose. I like the sound of both lilac and teal. Yet, black works well with cream. smile

Ann I empathise. I am also far too weary to do the amount of housework that I found to be a pleasure when I was a good bit younger.

Brook Very well done to your granddaughter. She deserves lots of hugs.

Our friend in the village may have located a reconditioned computer to replace the one that I'm struggling with. £200. Mr Soop will investigate on my behalf.

cornergran Tue 27-Jun-23 11:34:18

Morning everyone. Not a lot to say here other than I’m enjoying driving friends to deposit/collect cars and attend hospital appointments. I do like a purpose.

Mr C is understandably weary. Good job he likes to sleep smile. His next surgery date is bang smack in the middle of the July junior doctors strike. We’re hoping for a miracle but expecting another postponement. Nothing to be done other than be patient.

You sound better neine. Good to hear. Yes, please do post photos. I’m sure we’ll all (dis)agree on the most flattering combination. The flower selection sounds wonderful

Fingers crossed here for you yia. A tense time I recall well. Surveys always find a surprise or two in my experience. Not all bad though.

Good luck granmarie. You’re a determined woman. . I suspect I’d give up and head for the biscuits!

We’re supposed to be cleaning this morning ann. Notice I said supposed to be. Coffee time now. Will get back to it soon - maybe. I’m not one who enjoys it.

Best be off. Coffees getting cold. Take care everyone.

Grannmarie Tue 27-Jun-23 11:17:54

The Aldi wheel of death has popped up and eaten my post, twice, grrr!
I'll try again... I may be some time.😩

dustyangel Tue 27-Jun-23 11:12:45

Dear Ann, I’ve come to the conclusion that the house is never cleaned as well as I would do it myself if only 1) I was younger 2) I was fitter 3) my eyes were better 3) I had more energy etc etc.
Maybe it’s my imagination that my house was cleaner in my youth or maybe I just was so much busier that I didn’t even think about it. As long as it’s clean enough to be healthy it doesn’t really matter.

Neine your husband sounds a lovely man and what a compliment to be asked to do you friends flowers. I’m looking forward to seeing the hats.

Fingers crossed for Yiayia.

I hope everyone is getting weather that suits them, it is still very hot here.
