I'm currently sitting on the back of an all electric car on display at a local garden centre....I was asked to do a repeat of what I did at Street a couple of months ago. Apparently my efforts there resulted in the sale of 3 cars. It's incredibly hot and there are very few people stopping. I fell down the stairs this morning and my left hip is a bit uncomfortable. I've not managed to pop in for days as we've had a friend staying. She has finally collected her new car after waiting 15 months for it. It's a RAV4 and as it cost over £40000 she has to pay a showroom tax of nearly£400 for the next 5 years. She wasn't happy!!!!. I drove up and back to London on Tuesday... I'm still with my NHS dentist and like Ann broke a piece of my back tooth but it's not going to be possible to save it so there will be another trip up to have it removed. In the afternoon I had a follow up THR appointment at St George's. They politely got all barrels about leaving one leg longer resulting in all the ongoing pain. I've got to have an ultrasound on my hamstrings and then if the inflammation shows up they will inject them with cortisone. As Miranda's mum used to say' Such fun Darlings'.
Sue D...I hope you feel much better now and the antibiotics are working.
Yia...another disappointment for you...I'm keeping my 🤞 that the 'one ' shows up soon.
Jax... The heat doesn't help nosebleeds either does it? My daughter used to have spectacular ones in the summer months. I hope they resolve all the grotty issues you are having..and soon. I know there are loads of things I haven't commented on but I had better get back to work and look like I'm actually doing something.
I loved the picture of the little one staring out to sea...

Good morning everyone. It seems people are starting to get some rain. Ours is forecast for tomorrow, so on Monday I hope to lock it in by spreading mulch over the borders.
Today our DS & family are taking us to an escape room as DH’s late birthday present - it should be fun! I hope there is air conditioning 🥵
Glad MrB is doing so well.
Have a good day everyone

dustyangel Fri 16-Jun-23 21:06:00

It’s scorching here too. I’m enjoying having DGS and SiL here although in this heat I don’t see them until the evening when we eat together. SiL usually sunbathing and DGS working.
We ate in last night and SiL relaxed and got just slightly drunk, which is a very rare but entertaining occurrence in the 30 years plus that I’ve known him. Maybe the strain of visiting in laws is getting to him. grin they’ve gone out tonight to watch France play Gibraltar at the Algarve stadium. I expect we’ll eat out tomorrow lunch time without them which will mean they can go out in the evening without us.
The month they are here is passing by so quickly it seems impossible.

Grandmabatty Fri 16-Jun-23 21:01:43

I hope the funeral went ok Soop. I was at M and S early this morning, buying up their entire stock of picnic food, or so it seemed! Then some general tidying until I drove to dd's. The school dinner lady was handing each child a lunch bag and dgs1 was thrilled with his. We found a shady spot and put out all the food on the picnic rug. The big hits were watermelon wedges and juicy strawberries. After I went home, I had a long lie down on my bed as it was such a hot day and I was shattered. The heat is enervating. I hope you have a good evening Kitcheners.

Jaxjacky Fri 16-Jun-23 20:43:35

I hope todays funeral went as well as it could soop.
Lovely pictures GrannyGravy and Nannytopsy, I do appreciate the beautiful pictures you all share in the kitchen.
Lovely observant post Grannmarie is your hair coping with the weather?
ENT earlier to have the big nasal pack removed, replaced with a smaller dissolvable one, easier to live with.
MrJ went to the pub, I gave it a miss, I’m hoping this heat breaks tomorrow, sorry to those who love it; rain would be great.
Have a gentle evening.

Another scorcher here in Inverness with clear blue sky and about 26º
We’ve had a really good day, I went to:the gym first thing, the class was really hard but I got through it. Then home for lunch in the garden. It was too hot to be doing any gardening so we decided to try a trip the garden centre. DH managed really well walking around on his crutches for quite a while and then a we had a sit down in the cafe. We bought a few plants to brighten up the patio and then did the school pick up. Back home for quiche and salad and then I fell asleep again on the sofa 💤
Hope you have a lovely family weekend LLfl, the chocolate peppermint ice cream sounds delicious

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 16-Jun-23 19:41:55

Hello kitchen people! What a hot day. I took Ripley for her check up at the Vet and she’s fine. OH went off target shooting for the afternoon and I collapsed in a hot heap. I even watched television! Eek. An old Midsomer Murder. When I had cooled down a bit I did some of dusting and sweeping and prepared the spare room for my daughter who is coming tomorrow for the weekend. Elder son and his family are popping in for Saturday afternoon. I’ve been icing some chocolate cupcakes too. My granddaughter loves Nanna’s cakes and there is some chocolate peppermint ice cream with her name on. I hope you’ve all had a good day and have managed the heat better than me. Soop - I do hope you spoilt that cat!

Grannmarie Thu 15-Jun-23 22:50:19

Good evening Soop and lovely Kitchen people!

Another very warm day. My sisters and I had our hair done this afternoon, I hope my nice smooth blow dry can survive the heat.

Soop, I'm thinking of you and MrSoop,
hoping the funeral tomorrow goes as well as these things can. Enjoy your special visitor!🐈‍⬛

Aw, no, Jaxjacky, what a shame to have another big nosebleed after what you've already been through. I hope it can be sorted properly very soon. Take it easy, you've lost a lot of blood.💕🙏

Grannygravy, what a gorgeous view, sounds like you've had a wonderful time in Cyprus, and you've returned home to fantastic weather, win win!

Grandmabatty, I'm glad you are feeling more like yourself now. Well done for visiting your Mum so regularly. I hope she can enjoy the company of the nice ladies in her wee ward.

Brook, you're doing a grand job looking after MrB, It's great that he can wander around the garden on his crutches, the sunshine will do him good, lots of Vitamin D. Imagine if his surgery had been in the winter!
Great to hear of many Kitchen folk enjoying their gardens. I planted some lupins this morning, they reminded me of my Grandmother's garden in my childhood. It's funny how certain plants can take us back to a time and a place.

Hulahoop, I hope your hip is more comfortable now, and you get a good sleep.
I've started exercises for my knee, the physio said I've damaged the meniscus... I didn't know I had one, had to Google it when I got home!🤣

Nannytopsy, I hope you had a good sleep after your busy day yesterday.

Hello 👋 Annsixty, Blossoming and Charleygirl, I hope you are all well and enjoying this glorious weather. 🌞

TOYA, NNGB 💕🙏

Charleygirl5 Thu 15-Jun-23 21:41:34

soop I sincerely hope that Sweetie Pie was not waiting on the doorstep for her gorgeous food when you and Mr. Soop were out gallivanting.

He is so lucky knowing he will receive a gourmet meal every time he pops around.

brook2704 Thu 15-Jun-23 21:30:06

Oh Jax so sorry to hear that, how awful for you, I thought it had been sorted out a while ago for you. What a nuisance, you’re entitled to feel sorry for yourself but so pleased Mr J is doing his bit. Take care x

Jaxjacky Thu 15-Jun-23 19:45:19

Sorry to hear that Yia so disappointing.
Well done Mrbrook he’s doing well.
Not so me, big nosebleed last night, A&E, left there at 2am with one side of my nose packed. I’m a bit fed up, should get a call at some point to go back in, have packing removed and I assume, cauterised, again.
Plenty of bigger problems for people, I’m just feeling sorry for myself, MrJ is being a star.

hulahoop Thu 15-Jun-23 19:31:34

We have had a lovely day out in knaresborough. Very tired now, hip has been playing up today but could be worse. We have just eaten a cream tea which touched the spot .Hope all poorlies start feeling better soon. Yia sorry you have been disappointed again ,fingers crossed for next one.

Blossoming Thu 15-Jun-23 17:30:05

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It’s been another beautiful summer day here. MrB took me to the pharmacy to collect my gout meds and hayfever pills. Had a quick look in the big shop, I’d noticed they had my favourite peach barley water on offer. It was just too hot and stuffy to have a good browse so I just got the barley water and left. I’ve done very little else! Some cold chicken for tea with whatever we find in the fridge,

Have a good evening all.

brook2704 Thu 15-Jun-23 16:41:33

Gorgeous picture GG13 what a idyllic view from your sun lounger, hope your batteries are fully recharged now and you had a lovely time
It’s another scorcher here in Inverness, not a cloud in the sky and about 26º, we’ve had to come in from the garden as it’s just too hot. I popped into town this morning for some M&S food, so it’s lemon and pepper salmon with salad for later. A largish glass of wine too - DH isn’t fancying any wine just now but it’s not stopping me 🤣
Good to hear the dentist was ok soop always a relief
Beautiful sunset nannytopsy thanks for the picture

GrannyGravy13 Thu 15-Jun-23 14:28:00

I have been absent from the kitchen due to lying in a sun lounger in Cyprus for the last eight days.

Fortunately now we are home the sun is shining and three loads of washing this morning is already dried. Now my most dreaded task, ironing it all (many items are linen).

Will try to catch up, until then I wish you all a pleasant afternoon.

soop Thu 15-Jun-23 14:03:58

Early afternoon greetings to you lovely lot. I am using Mr S's computer. It has some strange foibles. Keeps banging on about passwords that need to be verified by text calls. I almost threw in the towel. And then I thought...you are well worth it. smile

Brook Gentle, continue to get-well hugs for Mr B

Nannytopsy I tried to download a similar beautiful sunset to yours, The pooter is even making that simple task a buggeration. I've given up for the mo'.

Dentist was a doddle. We were in and out within half an hour. Enjoyed a short stroll in blistering sunshine. I flopped into my chair on getting home. Now I must unflop myself and do some ironing.

Apparently, we have a "caller". Sweetie Pie is on the doorsrep. grin grin grin

Nannytopsy Thu 15-Jun-23 00:03:22

Hello everyone - I expect you’ll be asleep by now! Progress has been made planting the garden and now there is mulch to spread before we can soon say we are done - for now! Today was our hottest day and still not a drop of rain but there was a lovely sunset.
A late booking for a sleepover tomorrow night, so I must remake their beds. I thought I had a while longer!
After a WI conversation this afternoon and the meeting tonight, I am shattered. I really should snuggle down and go to sleep!

Blossoming Wed 14-Jun-23 23:18:32

Good evening dear Kitcheners. Still no rain here, just clear blue skies.. I overdid things yesterday so today has been quite lazy. MrB went shopping, I tidied clothes away and went for an early walk. I have been reading and am now ready for bed. Goodnight all x

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 14-Jun-23 22:51:14

Hello everyone. I’m finding it just a bit too hot. We went to our local garden centre today. We would like an acer, but couldn’t find the right one. So we bought some purple verbenas, plants for a hanging basket and one or two other things. There is a really good Farm Shop nearby so we bought strawberries, cream, chicken pie and a bottle of apple juice. I’m now in bed melting.😎

Grandmabatty Wed 14-Jun-23 20:12:31

Good evening Kitcheners. Brook the words of praise must make you feel good. Grannmarie that sounds like a lovely day out. Annsixty I hope you enjoyed your wine.
I have pottered happily most of the day. I've washed the garden table and a bench and pruned a bush and decimated another which was dying. I visited mum who is in a lovely four bed ward. The other ladies are so pleasant. I visited my friend's mum who is in the next room too. Then home for a late dinner of quiche, tomato salad and air fryer chips. Shortly I'll water the garden before the Sewing Bee. I can't sew for toffee but I love the programme. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

brook2704 Wed 14-Jun-23 20:02:27

Thanks so much ann he’s doing ok, still early days but all fine so far. I think the lovely weather has encouraged him as he’s like me and enjoys a wander around in the garden. He’s still using two crutches to get around, I’m not sure how soon that will change. Pleased you enjoyed a glass of wine earlier, I did too!

Your day sounds lovely grannmarie, Peebles is another place I’d like to visit when we can

annsixty Wed 14-Jun-23 19:49:21

Brook I can’t believe how well and how much your H is doing.
I don’t think I did as well after my knee replacement so soon.
Good for him.
I have had a lazy day and enjoyed it.
Just had quiche and salad and a cheeky glass or two of chilled white.
It is Wednesday after all.
I hope all is well with most.
I can’t get the events of Nottingham, my old stamping ground out of my mind.
Those beautiful youngsters at the start of their lives.
Have the best evening you can everyone.

Grannmarie Wed 14-Jun-23 19:46:30

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!

Thank you for all the kind comments about the Wee Boy's photo.💙

Glad to hear that SueD and Jaxjacky are on the mend, Yiayia, I'm sorry the bungalow wasn't ' the one ', Grandmabatty and Brook, you deserve medals...or cocktails?

Today was our annual Parish Coffee Morning trip, we left for Peebles straight after morning Mass, one and a quarter hour journey down through lovely countryside.
We had a great day, glorious weather, good company and a lovely lunch in a shady ( in the nicest way!) courtyard restaurant, with a super menu, delicious home baking and excellent service. Then a wee wander around the busy High Street, then the essential ice creams before our return journey. A good day out!

I have returned to my knitting but I'm afraid I've made some holes where holes don't belong....I used to knit Aran, Icelandic or cartoon characters, now I find it tricky to follow a much simpler pattern...dearie me!

TOYA, NNGB.

Hi to all kitchen pals from a really hot and sunny Inverness- it’s been wall to wall sunshine and about 26º today, 😎
So sorry Yia hang on in there …. I would have thought the vendors would have accepted a reasonable offer if there’s a lot of work to be done and it’s a probate sale. So sorry you’re disappointed 🙁
I’ve had a busy day, I went to the gym for the dreaded circuits class first thing before it got too hot - I was so pleased as the lovely encouraging instructor said he noticed I was getting much stronger, so it must be working. I’m still one of the weaklings in the class but hey ho I can only do my best.
This afternoon DH has sat in the shade doing some gentle gardening and I’ve been doing the mowing and weeding. I lasted until a out 3.30 before it all got too hot, I came in and promptly fell asleep!
Hope those jeans stay put soop what a nuisance that hernia is 🙁

soop Wed 14-Jun-23 14:42:49

Blossoming I can almost feel the breeze drifting from your tranquil water scene. The sea is flat calm. There isn't the merest hint of a cloud in the hazy sky.

We have our friend's funeral to attend on Friday. I need to find a suitable outfit for the occasion. The parastomal hernia is so big I have few garments that span the area comfortably. Today I used elastic threaded through the button hole of my jeans and fastened the other end with a loop around the button. I then hoped that the elastic wouldn't shift...resulting in my jeans working their way slowly but surely down as far as my knees. shock
