Hello all. OH and I went to a beautiful tiny village for their Arts Festival. We began with lunch in the village pub and then visited various amazing venues. A friend of mine was exhibiting some of her paintings. Not quite my thing unfortunately. She writes and illustrates children’s books too and I bought one a while ago for my granddaughter . We were tempted by lots of things and in the end bought quite a large limited edition print. It will be framed and hung on the lower part of the hall wall. I think. To finish the day we had a pot of tea in the village hall. The village is Langford and is quite near Filkins where I went the other day.
Have a good evening.

Oh Jaxjacky that’s scary! At least they’ve identified it and you’ll be treated now. Take care of yourself. flowers

I hope MrB is doing well and is maybe able to get out into the sunshine.

Nannytopsy I suspect we’re all agog for your news! 👶

Love the hat, Blossoming .👒

Those catch-up phone conversations are very precious, aren’t they, Soop?

Thank you for the get well thoughts. I’m feeling a lot brighter today. What ‘it’ was is likely to remain a mystery but I’m happy to see the back of it.

We had rain this morning, which wetted the garden nicely. Then the sun came out early afternoon. We’ve spent the afternoon sorting through files and paperwork. I’ve managed to persuade Dh we really don’t need paperwork for a house we bought in the 1990’s! He’s shredded a lot and the rest has gone in the recycling bin. I’ve been putting the rest in a plastic set of drawers that just squeezes into a space I had ear marked for it. Today hasn’t been totally wasted! grin

A peaceful evening to you all and especially Urms. Xxx

soop Sun 11-Jun-23 16:54:41

Enjoy a pleasant and peaceful Sunday evening. smile moon

soop Sun 11-Jun-23 16:53:49

This was last night's sunset...

cornergran Sun 11-Jun-23 16:50:38

Rest now jax, flowers. You are going through the wringer. Chin up. It’s so positive the issue has been identified.

Pleased you feel more like yourself grandmab. Step away from that snail grin. Get well wishes to all poorlies.

Love the hat blossoming.

Much cooler here. Drizzle for a few minutes then it stops. No sign of sun, grey cloud cover. I really want to spray foliar feed on the roses. The question is will I be wasting my time if it starts to drizzle again? The washing is dizzy, on the line, into the conservatory, on the line and repeat.

How’s your husband doing brook? Hope behaving and improving. Having said that I remember on day four post tkr I was ready to murder the surgeon as I was so uncomfortable. Day five all was well. Just a blip. Sharing my tale of woe with the surgeon at my checkup the wretched man just laughed, said it was to be expected at some point. Really? He might have warned me.

Best be off. Veg to prepare for our meal, nothing complex today.

Enjoy the rest of Sunday everyone.

Welcome, NanaDana. Make yourself comfortable. It's best that we Kitcheners remain inside the house. It's hot and muggy outside, and an army of midges continue to lurk.

Jax Bless you. Us lot are rooting for you. Reeelax! flowers

Nannytopsy I get the feeling that there is a very interesting/special development to put a huge smile on your face. I am very happy for you and your family.

SueD and Grandmabatty Listen to your body. Rest and drink plenty of water. We all want you to feel very much improved...you are special peoples. grin

Blossoming I love your hat. Sort of Greta Garbo-ish. wink
Please continue to take good care of your foot.

Eldest son was on the phone for over half an hour. Their house sold in seven days. Having viewed many homes in Oakham, they appear to be smitten by one in particular. Changes are in the air.

Our good friend of fifty plus years whose husband had to have his foot amputated a year ago, continues to make slow but steady progress. She now needs a hip replacement. Once upon a time we lived opposite each other in Plymouth. Now we are separated by hundreds of miles. Every three weeks or so we chat on the telephone and we pick up where we left off. Our conversations help to recharge my batteries.

Blossoming Sun 11-Jun-23 16:14:06

Sending love JaxJacky, hope you have a peaceful evening x

soop Sun 11-Jun-23 16:14:02

Oreo Thank you. smile

Grandmabatty Sun 11-Jun-23 16:11:52

Jaxjacky 💐 I hope it is resolved quickly.

Jaxjacky Sun 11-Jun-23 16:06:21

Afternoon, pleased you’re feeling better Grandmabatty I hope SueD is too and that Mrbrook is behaving!
Nature surprises us all Nannytopsy in the loveliest of ways.
After Friday’s utilities torture, I had mobile phone angst yesterday, two car journeys in oppressive heat, I won’t bore you.
This morning I (we) spent a few hours in A&E where it was discovered I have a small clot on each lung, blood thinners are added to my growing dispensary. A future haematology appointment will see for how long I take them.
I’m a tired Jax, thé chest CT with iodine was unexpected and for this health anxiety person, not fun.
The rest of the day will be quiet.

Grandmabatty Sun 11-Jun-23 14:15:17

A blink of sunshine so I did a bit of weeding. I gave some banana bread to a neighbour and I went to sit on a bench until I spotted a snail wending it's way along it. I suppose I'll have to burn the bench now 😕

Blossoming Sun 11-Jun-23 11:02:39

Meant to say hope your DH is recovering well Brook

Blossoming Sun 11-Jun-23 10:57:45

Nannytopsy how wonderful. Another gimlet lover here LadyLFL, gin and orange is too sickly for me. If you can buy fresh limes try putting slices in the freezer to add to your drink.

Hope all our poorly grans feel better today. My thoughts are with Urmstongran and family.

Another scorching day here with just the lightest of breezes, hoping to get out for a walk, suitably UV protected. grin. My niece says it’s my disguise to avoid paparazzi!

Nannytopsy Sun 11-Jun-23 10:42:18

GrandmaB this one is a complete surprise!

NanaDana Sun 11-Jun-23 08:07:20

Good morning to all in the kitchen from bonny Berwick upon Tweed, where the sun is trying to get out as we prepare to visit the weekly car boot sale in the town centre. Will we return empty-handed? That would be a first.. Hope all is well with you and yours. Enjoy your day.

Grandmabatty Sun 11-Jun-23 07:56:31

Nannytopsy very good news indeed! Both my grandsons are ivf babies. Cornergran thank you for your good wishes. On the mend apart from my left eye which is still gungy. I have a KitchenAid proudly on display in my kitchen. My daughter is always borrowing it.

cornergran Sat 10-Jun-23 23:49:22

Special news indeed nannytopsy 🤞 here.

Get well wishes for grandmab, sued and anyone else under the weather. Somehow it always seems to me it’s worse to be poorly in good weather.

We’ve been spared both storm and rain other than a few spots - so far. Time yet for that to change.

It’s felt comfortable here today, a steady breeze, some cloud and generally just like summer should be. Sea front wasn’t as busy as I expected, although Saturday morning can be a good time to go as many folk are coming or going.

No wandering out for me tomorrow. A list by the computer tells me there are things that won’t go away if I ignore them.

Hoping to see our elder son tomorrow afternoon, he will try to call to pick up my trusty Kenwood Chef and it’s many attachments. I only use it two or three times a year now. It will be more use at his house for our granddaughter who is into baking in a big way. A much smaller and less heavy duty machine has replaced it. More than adequate for our needs now. I’m delighted to have liberated some worktop space in our compact kitchen. Simple pleasures for sure.

I should be asleep. As my Mum used to say the morning will come soon enough. Sleep well everyone.

annsixty Sat 10-Jun-23 23:25:54

What lovely and very special news Nannytopsy I hope all goes well.
Nature constantly surprises.

Nannytopsy Sat 10-Jun-23 23:13:17

Hello! LLFL that pork dish sounds like a Delia recipe we do. Haven’t done it in a while so I must do it soon.
We are on a flying visit to DD etc. DGS in fine form, eating like a horse and making the most of his 4 teeth. There was some jaw dropping news - very early days but DD isn’t drinking wine …
DGS is special because he was an IVF baby. Enough said?

Blossoming Sat 10-Jun-23 21:09:58

Evening dear Kitcheners! It’s been another very hot sunny day here. I haven’t done very much as I have been resting my foot and it’s much better now. I washed my Oodie and my favourite fleece cuddle blanket as I won’t be needing them for a while. They were dry in no time. Mr B did a little gardening. We have just had a spectacular but very short thunderstorm but not much rain yet. The air is so hot and heavy I think sleep may be difficult.
Wishing you all a peaceful night, TOYA

brook2704 Sat 10-Jun-23 20:48:04

Oh dear grandmabatty and SueD so sorry to hear you’re both feeling poorly, hope you feel a bit better soon, take care 💐

Grandmabatty Sat 10-Jun-23 20:06:02

Good evening Kitcheners. Sadly Brook I'm not much better. My throat is very sore and my left eye is a mess. I've lost my voice too. It's all a bit horrible. I did achieve more today, ie housework, washings and ironing. But I'm very tired and fed up of being unwell. Tomorrow is another day. Sorry to hear that you are unwell too Suedonim. Annsixty and Soop you are kindness itself. I shall take myself off bed in a bit. Have a good evening Kitcheners

SueDonim Sat 10-Jun-23 19:11:11

A quick visit as I’m not entering the Kitchen because of 🦠. I seem to have some sort of bug, tired, achy and a temperature. It’s not Covid, I tested.

So a quiet day for me. At least the sun has deigned to visit at last! Sweet dreams, all. Xx

brook2704 Sat 10-Jun-23 19:00:57

Hope your DP is ok after his fall Oreo and his back isn’t too painful - I can’t help with tips for the sunken cherries as I’m not a baker. I really enjoy a cherry Madeira cake though but it’s always courtesy of Marks and Spencer.
Hoping grandmabatty is feeling a bit better
It’s been really hot and sunny here today, I’ve been busy in the garden, just kept popping inside to see how the invalid was ….
It’s all still all peace and harmony just now Jax tomorrow might be a different story though! He’s been shuffling around on his crutches, thank goodness we’ve got a bungalow so no problem with stairs.
I like the sound of the Gimlet llfl, might give it a whirl - thanks for the recommendation
Have a lovely evening all

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 10-Jun-23 18:30:03

Make sure the cake mixture isn’t too slack before adding the cherries. I don’t coat them in flour or wash them and it seems to be work.
