Welcome to you lovely lot. Enjoy the buffet and open the chilled Champagne. There are limitless treats for everyone.
Thank you for being truly good, supportive friends.
[sunshine} and much more besides.
Hiya Soop DP is dear partner, as we aren’t married.😃
The cherrycake is ok but how to get them scattered around the cake instead of in a layer at the bottom? I cut them in half and floured them first, any other tips?
Hello Soop! Have you ever tried a gimlet! I don’t like tonic. So a g & t wouldn’t be my choice. But a gimlet (gin and a lime syrup) is delicious. Here’s a picture. OH bought a new laptop today so I’m staying well clear while he sets it up! I bought a new sauté pan. I’ve used it this evening to brown some pork chops which are cooking as we speak with mushrooms, cream and lemon juice. Among all the poorly people, I’m thinking of Mr Urms and his family. Have a good evening.
I am astonished! I had no idea that it is almost 5:30. Time to help prepare vegetables for tonight's meal.
The 8:30 glass of G&T will be raised to wish you all a very good evening.

Oreo Sorry, who is DP? Falling down steps is not recommended. No wonder DP is feeling sore.
We walked beside the loch in Tarbert this morning. Two families of ducks together with a wee troop of ducklings were a joy to behold as they paddled by. A pity that the camera was here at home.
Cherry cake will taste equally delicious no matter where the cherries landed.
Grannmarie Thank you for your kind words.
We always enjoy visiting Largs, especially in the area of the marina.
Grandmabatty Us lot would love to be able to cheer you up. A virtual group hug is coming your way.
All good healing vibes to Mr Brook, Sued and hulahoop together with other Kitcheners in need of TLC
Jax Your peony evoked fond memories of my dear Nana's wonderful and fragrant cottage garden.
It is blisteringly hot. Thunderstorms are forecast for tomorrow. We rely on spring water collected in a holding tank way up the hillside. Although we have had next to no rain, our neighbour hiked uphill to inspect the tank. He reported that it was well-full.
When in my twenties, I lived in Northampton. I worked in sales promotion at Avon Cosmetic's headquarters. Skin So Soft was as popular then as it is now. Mr Soop has purchased a spray of something recommended to deter midges. There is a saying that goes something like...midges are a reminder that we are not living in heaven. Not those words exactly but you get the message. I'm sure some Scottish Gransnetter will know the saying.
Nice to read the good news from various posters, life is full of ups and downs but sometimes the downs seem to take over for many people sadly.
DP fell halfway down the cellar steps last night! A def down in that case😖 He seems ok but is limping today and has a sore back.
Childminding for me today, another great sunny day so will take them to the park to feed ducks and have a play.
I baked a cherry cake yesterday, all the cherries ended up as a layer at the bottom of the cake😫 another down!
Pleased your husband is home safely brook I’ll give you until Sunday before the counting in your head, or under your breath 🙂.
I’ve been to Largs Grannmarie my ex husbands family lived there, his Dad worked for IBM Greenock, I’ve had an ice cream or two, sounds like you’ve had a lovely day.
I pushed the boat out and had a pint of shandy in the pub, it went down well in 27 degree sunshine.
Tomorrow is another day, hope it’s a good one for you all.
Thank you * Brook* we had a lovely evening so nice to spend time with just her.
I thought I had done well to be out of hospital after 48 hours with my hip replacement but one night in is very quick indeed.
It is 7 years since I had my knee done, can’t quite believe it, and I was in 3 nights and one of the first out.
I hope your H continues to do well and recovers quickly, it is a major operation after all.
I wish you all a peaceful night and a good weekend especially Grandmabatty who seems very “under the weather”.
To all, get well soonest.
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. We're not long home from a nice drive down the coast to Largs. It's been such a lovely day, still warm well into the evening. DSIS1 and I had a wee paddle, then we made ourselves presentable for dinner at Nardinis, the traditional fish and chips with bread and butter and a pot of tea. It's always very busy so we had phoned ahead to book. Then we queued for the famous ice cream cones, I chose Scottish tablet, we enjoyed them strolling along the front, watching the ferries coming and going. DSIS2 was driving so it was a relaxing trip for me after a busy week.
Niene, I hope you feel better soon. I'm using the Avon dry oil spray too, especially in the evenings when the 'flying teeth' descend! I see Jaxjacky recommends it too. There used to be a whole range of Original Skin so Soft, shower stuff, body lotion, but now I think it's just the dry oil that's available in Original.
Brook, I'm glad to hear your DH is home, no time at all! He'll soon be coming on leaps and bounds. Metaphorical, at first!
Grandmabatty, I hope you had a restful day and feel better for it.
Thinking of all who have loved ones beginning, enduring, or completing challenging treatments, especially Soop's dear sister, MrUrms, SueD's DS and Baggs' DD, hoping it all brings the best possible outcomes.
A soak in the bath now, and a glass of SB on the side... TOYA, NNGB 💕🙏
Been another hot sunny day here. My left foot is rather sore now so I think I may have overdone the walking a bit but I love it so much. I will spend more time sitting in the garden tomorrow.
Have a lovely evening all x
Enjoy your meal out ann with your DGD 🥂
I think I’ll be joining you all in a glass of something very soon! A good day here, DH is home now and resting. He says a big thank you to you all for the good wishes. He’s hobbling about on crutches, the hardest thing was getting him in and out of the car for the journey home and me trying to drive ever so slowly over the humps in the road! Yes, they’re in and out again quickly these days hulahoop
Hoping the little girl is doing ok Jax, I never could do handstands but I imagine they can be quite dangerous. Hope you get your phone sorted easily tomorrow
Best wishes to your sister Soop,
Beautiful pink peony Jax thanks for the picture
I am off out again shortly for a meal out with my GD.
Something white and cold will definitely be on the cards for me.
Have the best evening you can everyone.
Jaxjacky - I’d have something alcoholic if I were you!
Bits of WI admin this morning. The gardener came and worked very hard for three hours. OH was supposed to have a cortisone injection in his knee this afternoon but he had a text message cancelling it! He will now go in July. He is now buying a new laptop. His current one is nearly ten years old. I had the air con fixed in my car today. With hot weather being forecast, it needed to be done. OH is doing fish and chips for dinner. I might have a small alcoholic beverage with it! Have a good evening.
Wasn’t it Avon skin so soft? Heard good things about it’s bug defences.
What a day, trying to move gas and electric from Shell to Octopus, a headache not yet sorted. Then ran son’s partner and her daughter (10) to A&E, handstand injury, probably scaphoid.
Now, my mobile won’t charge, only had it six weeks, off to the EE shop tomorrow.
I’ll try hard to stick to a soft drink in the pub in a minute!
Brooke hope oh is home can't believe how quickly patients get sent home, when I was nursing orthopaedic patients a week or a ten days was the norm !!*Jax D gladwe have just been taking dead flowers from peonies they never last long.Neine sorry you are still suffering.
Soop sending good vibes for your sister on her chemo journey.SueD glad you got some relief. Best wishes to all.
Pressed post by accident... Planning for next year. 🤞 Finlay has been a little demon this morning...twice I couldn't find him only to discover he had escaped and was happily eating goodness knows what (but I suspect was sheep poop) in the field next door. On that note .... I'd better go and check where he is now. Have a lovely afternoon everyone.
Lots of lovely positive posts...wonderful news from Brook.(prayers being heard it seems) .Hulahoop (I'm jealous as the pain this week has got me down) and SueD...(I found it worked quickly too and the relief is so welcome)
Soop I was sure I posted that it was Avon Dry Oil Spray ( original) that I use to repel bitey things...but I can't find it. We've got guests arriving tonight for the weekend so I've been revisiting the Domestic Goddess Handbook.... Actually that isn't true. I've just tickled around the odd bits that needed attention after last week's marathon. I paid the price of trying to claim the DomGod crown and have been in pain despite a treatment on Tuesday. It's made me feel really low and that's made me cross as I've no reason to allow myself to to react to it like that...
I was supposed to go to the gym this morning but didn't want to aggravate it and mess up everyone's weekend so I'm going to go on the jiggler in a while and hope that loosens the ham strings. I've made that chocolate cake again and some bread... I'll knock up some sardine pate later. We are going to Lynton and Lyndmouth tomorrow then maybe onto Porlock for lunch. In the evening we are going to the Cricket Club...it's a ploughman's and then a local (ish) singer who is really good...sings everything from Elvis to Ed Sheeran. We are hoping to book him for a very special event that DOH and I are planning for
That is great news Baggs!
brook, thanks for the smile about the size of your chocolate bar!
. I hope your DH continues well with his recovery, ("one step at a time", I was (jokingly) told!)
Good wishes for your sister, soop, as she continues with her treatment.
We're off to our little home-from-home on the NW Norfolk coast this morning for the weekend, so I don't have internet access there, but will catch up with you all at the beginning of next week.
Sending warm thoughts to you all on this friendly thread.
Good Morning everyone.
Early today as another full day of veiwings.🤞
Such good news Baggs so pleased for your DD.
Good to hear your recovering Hulahoop, SueD and Mr Brook. I had my knee replacement done 9 years ago and recovered very quickly as I’m sure your DH will Brook.
We have been taking number one GS to school this week.He is doing his GCSE and just goes in for exams. One more week to go then they can all relax it’s a lot of pressure and he’s worked really hard for good results.
The sun has just come out another warm day to come.
Enjoy your day Kitcheners, will catch up later.
Wonderful news Brook,, hulahoop and Sue. What a beautiful peony Jax. It’s been another beautiful day here, very hot but quite a chill wind. We have 2 big water butts in the garden and haven’t used very much of them so fat. Looks like we won’t have any rain for a couple of weeks, except maybe thunderstorms. Dock control mowed the grass on the verges and public spaces yesterday and they’re looking parched today.
Have a peaceful night all, sleep tight.
All these poorly lower body bits, but a threesome of good news, hulahoop Mrbrook and SueD, they say it comes in three’s.
I took a friend out to lunch for her birthday, both enjoyed it, washing was very dry when I got back, it’s been glorious again.
I’m having a tussle moving our energy supplier, a tomorrow problem as by the time I got the email alerting me, the phone lines were closed.
I’ll leave you with this peony, two years old now, I love it.
I’m trying again tonight with a post in the hopes it won’t delete itself!
Baggs that’s good news re your DD.
I hope your sister does well on her treatment, Soop.
Hula 👍 for walking!
That must be a relief, Brook to get that op over and done with. May MrB soon be gadding around like a two year old again.
Well, this night splint for my foot is amazing. I’ve woken the last two mornings with no foot pain! I’m not walking too much during the day for fear of provoking it but it seems to be making a huge difference. By evening it’s a little achey but nothing on the levels I had before.
In celebration, we’ve been to the dump and the garden centre today.
Got rid of glass and cardboard at the dump then repopulated the garage with some new garden tools. We left all our old ones when we moved house but I now have five different new types, all for the princely sum of £5 because I used the garden vouchers friends had kindly given me when we moved. ❤️
I also got a few bedding plants and saw some easy ideas for making our new garden. A successful day.
I hope everyone else has had a pleasant day. Xxx
