My D and I have arrived at our holiday cottage, after a forecast of seven days of rain it is dry ,overcast, but warm.
The cottage is lovely, huge but oh so isolated.
I don’t think we would have booked it had we realised.
I can’t see us going out much as it is such a difficult place to get to.
Down a private gated lane.
However we shall certainly get a rest and we are well stocked with wine.
We are waiting for an Asda delivery, Tesco and Sainsbury’s declined the order, I now know why.
Have the best weekend you can everyone.

Welcome to you lovely lot. Enjoy the buffet and open the chilled Champagne. There are limitless treats for everyone.
Thank you for being truly good, supportive friends.
[sunshine} and much more besides.
Hello Foxy & Rosie! Good to see you back 😉
DGS & DGD are asleep upstairs eventually. Despite bringing 4 animals DGS forgot the teddy and was a very grumpy nearly 10 year old. Nanny refused the 40 minute round trip to fetch said animal this time. I have done it 3 times …
There are lots of empty plant pots in our garden. Tomorrow’s job is to sort out the keepers and tidy them away. The small people can help! Does anybody need the spare hundreds?
Best wishes to you all. Sleep tight 💤
I’ve been reading but please don’t expect me to remember everyone’s busyness. There’s a lot of it.
.
What can I recall? Some of you have been able to enjoy a holiday, many have had special time with grandchildren and may well be exhausted afterwards , ann has been promoted and soop has some help from her GP. Low mood is no laughing matter. Apologies if I’ve muddled any of that.
Our daughter in law is on a well deserved holiday with her family. I’m so pleased for them, they need some down time together. They will fly back early hours of 27th which is the day we hope Mr C’s surgery will finally happen. Our other son and his family leave for holiday 48 hours after surgery day. The family are making the timing work although we feel so guilty at their changed plans.
We’re both less edgy now, have had a couple of excellent days out which did us both the world of good and are now in the avoiding people pre surgery stage. Thank you all for continuing to think of us, keep your fingers crossed for Thursday, please. We’ll be lucky if we can open ours come the day
.
Sleep well everyone. TOYA.
Yes definitely foxy you’ve summed it up perfectly - I get like that every time the DGC leave - but treasure every moment with them. They just grow up far too quickly and the years seem to fly by. Quite often the photo memories pop up on my phone and they’re babies again!
Evening - not “event” 😳😳😳thought I’d checked too!
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.
So good to see you in the kitchen, dear Soop, pop in whenever you can, you know we are all here for you.
Grannygravy, I got that letter last year, it certainly feels like a rite of passage, congratulations!
Congratulations also to Annsixty, you'll looking forward to welcoming your great grandchild. Enjoy your holiday with your DD.
Welcome home, Grandmabatty, I enjoyed hearing about your holiday in one of our favourite places.
Happy birthday to MrJaxjacky, enjoy your empty, Jax.
Glad you got your swimsuit back, Brook!
Foxygloves, I usually fall asleep 😴when I take grandchildren to the cinema. Our Book Group was pleasantly surprised by The Hunger Games, but then we like dystopian, Handmaid's Tale etc...
Kitty, you are a good and supportive friend.
Hello 👋 Lins, welcome to Soop's friendly kitchen !
Blossoming, you never know, MrB could be Ken to your Barbie!
Wishing everyone a good weekend, thinking of all with worries, illness or sorrow. NNGB 💕🙏
Good event all - do you get like me when the GC(s) are gone?
First of all relieved that (in this case) GS has been handed over in one piece, then sad that he has gone/worried it might all have been boring /conscious that I am OLD/ regretful that I don’t see him(or them) more/absolutely zorsted as if my plug has been well and truly pulled out - all of these in no particular order!
I was planning to watch tonight’s Prom and must have nodded off at least an hour ago, now I’ve got a crick in my neck and have no idea how much I have missed. 😴
Can’t face stripping the bed though, I think I’ll just shut the door on the bedroom and deal with it all tomorrow!
Rosie has slept all evening too but she did enjoy having someone else to snuggle up to. GS is a keen cricketer (quite a nifty bowler) so we caught up this morning with last nights Today at the Test before left and he (patiently) explained the finer points to me. Now that I am interested I dare say it will be rained off but England do seem to be doing rather well.
With kind thoughts to you all, safe travels if you are what the Germans refer to as unterwegs and hopefully respite from your woes or ills.
Hi all, MrJ is esconced in one of his many siblings houses, there will be a few 🍺 tonight and some craic, he rang me when he landed and will txt later.
So, a quiet day for me, posted off a returns parcel, took more leaves of my tomatoes, put away the Asda delivery then went to our local for an hour.
I picked up Imogen earlier, on a half day, she’s very happy her braces are coming off soon after nearly four years and of course they’ve all broken up today, my daughter included.
You can keep your peppers brook 🤮about the only veg I detest, love chillies though.
Have a pleasant evening all.
I’ll second Jax’s welcome home Grandmabatty, hope you’ve had a lovely holiday with lots of special memories
I’ve been to the gym for a splash around in the pool, by mistake I left my swimsuit hanging up in the showers but remembered when I was sat in Starbucks with my pal - Luckily it was still there when I went back for it
Some new veggie recipe for dinner later which includes roasted sweet potato, peppers, onion, mushroom and tomatoes with a side of mixed grains and salad leaves. I’m not sure it all goes together but week after next we’ve got DD1 staying so I’m trying out a few new ideas. She’s such a good cook so feel like I’ve got to make an effort - sigh..
Hope you handed DGS safely back foxy and you’re relaxing now ..
Welcome home Grandmabatty, feet up now.
Good afternoon kitcheners. I'm back home after a long day's traveling. First wash is on and accessories tidied away. I'm relaxing after a week spent relaxing. Not sure what I fancy for dinner. Have a good evening Kitcheners
Good evening Kitcheners
Congratulations to AnnSixty promotion indeed!
I got over the embarrassing phone call to the car insurers and have set the wheels (no pun intended) in motion. According to my policy I have a protected NCB and will be entitled to a courtesy car when mine goes in so it could be a lot worse.
“Mission Impossible” is the silliest action movie ever - entirely unlikely but good clean fun - and no embarrassing sex like in James Bond films to embarrass either Granny or GS!
He was keen for me to watch The Hunger Games with him tonight as he is reading one of the books. Very dystopian and IMO highly missable ( !)
Poor boy retreated to bed with tummy ache 45 minutes ago it may not be unconnected with the big bag of 🍿 he had at the cinema but of course I shall be relieved to hand him back in one piece tomorrow- suddenly my big strapping 13 year old looked like a little boy again tucked up in bed with his hottie.
(An inveterate worrier I have been imagining appendicitis etc and all sorts so I am sitting up until I know he is sound asleep.)
TOYA - too many to mention by name but it is nice to be back in the fold with you all.
Just popped in to congratulate ann on her promotion! And to wish Soop well with her medication and to hope she comes back to the kitchen soon - feeling loads better.
Foxy, hard luck and having a family witness is soon unfair. My car recently got a huge scratch in it (and it wasn't me!) while parked whole I was volunteering. The insurance company accepted that it was vandalism so I won't lose my NCB, thankfully, but will have to pay the excess.
I've had a tiring day sitting with ny bedridden fruend - not sure why it was so tiring - we only sat, drank tea and gossiped.
I read these posts every day but never posted. There are several long term posters I recognise and others who have gone missing. There is one ( I hope I am right) who has returned ( may have taken me a while to cotten on) but Rosie was a give away. Anyway I enjoy the posts and ( bumps)
Jaxjacky they have been fed and watered, just spent an hour in our Spa Pool. The eldest will now be online with his neurodiverse gaming gang, the younger one and I are about to watch the 2nd Kingsman film.
(DH is deciding which camp he is joining 🤣)
Wow, congratulations on your soon to be Great Grandma status ❤️ annsixty
Exciting annsixty congratulations, I hope you have thoroughly lovely time in Wales.
You’ll get there soop I’m glad your GP was listening.
Yes GG13 eating and sleeping, like puppies but you don’t need to exercise them!
Enjoy your dinner Grandmabatty hope you have a smooth journey home.
Interesting brook let us know how you get on.
MrJ is packed, one ‘man bag’ as hand luggage, he’s back Sunday, I’ll be eating dinner’s that he doesn’t like, liver and fish, not together sillies 🙂
Have a pleasant evening all.
AnnSixty I think I was still typing when you posted, I’m not very fast! Wonderful baby news, hope you have a lovely break with your daughter.
So lovely to hear from you soop, take one day at a time and I hope that gradually you will start to feel a bit better. We’re all here for you anytime
Bet it’s all go with the teenagers at yours GG13 and hope your DS and Dil are enjoying the Ibiza party!
I’ve been busy this morning in the garden until it started raining. This afternoon I went to find out a bit more about a new volunteering opportunity that might be interesting, I’m going back in a couple of weeks to meet some other volunteers and see how they get on. It’s being a volunteer patient at the Centre for Health Sciences, helping junior doctors with their training etc. I’m not 100% sure yet but will see!
Wishing MrJ a very Happy Birthday Jax, hope he’s having a lovely day 🎂🎉
Hoping the holiday with your DD goes well next week Ann and congratulations to your DGS and partner
Easily done foxy, it could happen to any of us. I hope the repair bill isn’t too expensive
Safe journey home grandmabatty I’ve really enjoyed hearing about your holiday. Enjoy every last minute of the hot weather and sunshine, it’s raining ☔️ here again
Thank you Grandmabatty I hope your last night is a good one.
You are going to feel such a difference in temperature when you get home.
I hope the winter woolies are in a handy place.
Best wishes for a good flight and a good journey home.
Annsixty many congratulations to you on your soon to be change in status to great gran!
Case is packed and I'm ready to go early tomorrow morning. We're heading out to our favourite restaurant this holiday in a while. I have enjoyed myself immensely but I'm looking forward to going home.
Dear soop
I have been taking antidepressants for a few years now I happened to try one which suited me straight away.
It is Citalopram, it has helped me enormously and I have been able to halve the dose and now can miss alternate days.
I don’t know if I will ever leave them off altogether.
I pray that the one prescribed for you works as well.
All good wishes to your H for his zapping.
A belated hello to you lovely lot
Our friend's funeral was far from a gloomy farewell. The road to Oban is always tricky and twisting but we made Mr S's appointment with time to spare. So far, so good.
Yesterday he had his scalp zapped and is wearing several dressings as a result. It isn't a pretty sight. Nest week, he returns to see the consultant at the hospital.
I have been prescribed a course of antidepressants. Apparently the positives will take about six weeks to manifest themselves.
I am trying to keep busy. Emptying the computer/art studio/computer room of three sacks of stuff that I've been hoarding. In the midst of the chaos, I picked up a box containing 1500 pieces of jigsaw and managed to empty the contents in amongst the stuff I wished to take to the recycling depot. The language was unrepeatable.
THANK you for your patience. I have yet to settle down and catch up with what seems like weeks of unread happenings in your lives.
The time will come when I feel more like my old self. In the meantime, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you will continue to support each other. Because of you, the kitchen is truly wonderful forum.

Good afternoon all, another sunny day here but not quite as warm.
Foxy they are just lumps of metal when all’s said and done. It is upsetting, but nobody was hurt. Your holiday sounds lovely Grandmabatty.
Great harvest Jax, I feel like an explorer when I’m kitting myself out for my walks! Every day is a learning experience and an adventure.
Neine the psoriasis first hit when I was still in hospital following my brain injury. Fortunately breakouts are few and far between these days. I’m careful about what I use on my skin, which helps, and I’m glad it’s only in one place. Your OH is doing really well, it must be so gratifying for you to see those changes.
I’m not sure I’d persuade MrB to take me to see the Barbie movie Grannmarie 😂
Enjoy your afternoon/evening, sending love and healing to all in need just now and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Just a quick pop into the kitchen, it’s all go at Gravy Grange as we have two teenagers staying for a week whilst their mum and dad party in Ibiza (our son and wife)
I am amazed at how much they eat, it seems to be sleeping or eating 🤣🤣🤣
I have had a letter confirming my pension and when it will be paid, I am beginning to feel old 🤬
I hope you and your DD have a stress free time in Wales annsixty
Corner what a worry it must be for you regarding your families health 😘
Take care dear friends
