I am locking the door and will now open our new kitchen. See you soon...

soop Sun 30-Jul-23 17:13:18

I am about to gather all the cushions and tartan rugs in readiness for the transfer.

soop Sun 30-Jul-23 17:12:25

I also have a wee stack of ironing waiting for my attention.

soop Sun 30-Jul-23 17:11:48

I need to empty the washing machine...

soop Sun 30-Jul-23 17:10:58

I have added a quiet corner to our new kitchen. Sometimes it's comforting to sit and ponder...those who wish to do so can still feel part of the crowd. I have appreciated doing just that recently.

soop Sun 30-Jul-23 17:06:58

Brook We split the £40. My share has gone into the box in my knicker drawer. I like knowing that I have extra funds to pop into the birthday cards of the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

soop Sun 30-Jul-23 17:03:46

Kitty I am loitering with intent. No way will You lovely lot not know the way to our new kitchen. I wouldn't be able to rest until you were all settled. smile

soop Sun 30-Jul-23 17:01:33

Blossoming It is always a pleasure to have your company.
My scalp is lumpy and remains tender. The scab is about two and a quarter inches long. I also have a black eye and feel "whoosy" and lack-lustre.
Mr S's scalp is also very tender. He has received further treatment from the dermatologist who zapped the lesions and caused them to bleed. We are a funny looking couple. wink

Oooh well done with the car boot sale soop, £40 better off is a good profit. I’ve never really got into them but I know they’re very popular.
It’s been another warm sunny day here, lots of sunshine and just a few clouds. I was tempted out into the garden for a little while but most of the day I’ve been continuing with my cleaning and sorting out. Unfortunately our garage has now become a bit of a dumping ground to be re-sorted at a later date but at least the house is free of clutter - well mostly. I’ve updated my photo wall with up to date pictures of all 4 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren, trying to make sure there’s an even number of each so I won’t get accused of having favourites 🙄
Hoping Mr Corner is continuing to do well
The terrorist teapot made me laugh baggs, whatever next! I think you mentioned your DH bought it in Basel ? My son and his partner live there, we’re off to visit them in September
Sending much love to Urms and her DH ❤️

kittylester Sun 30-Jul-23 15:45:17

Please leave the normal trail of corks to show the way to the new kitchen soop.

So pleased to hear about MrC. Would a taxi be prohibitive every now and again, Corner?

Blossoming Sun 30-Jul-23 15:26:44

Lovely to hear from you Cornergran, MrC .is coming on and hopefully will be allowed home soon. Hospital parking is a nightmare everywhere. Sometimes MrB has to drop me off and I text him when I’m ready to be collected. I hope you are OK after your mishap soop and MrSoop’s scalp is healing Ok.
Urms good to see you 👋🏻
Jax the floor here suffers from the same mud problem and I know where it comes from (not from me 😂)

soop Sun 30-Jul-23 15:17:37

Urms Lots of love.

We gathered together some paperback books, paintings, kitchenware and other stuff and went to the village car boot sale. We are now £40 richer! It's the first time that we've ever participated. Thankfully the rain held off.

Before leaving home I wanted to check how soon we may need to open a new kitchen. Guess what? The computer played silly wotsits. However, Mr S has rectified things. I am aware that we still have a wee time yet but I shall keep an eye on things.

soop Sun 30-Jul-23 15:08:58

cornergran From hereon Mr C will make a steady recovery. He will almost certainly be looking forward to returning home. You are wise to take the bus when you visit the hospital. It should allow you time to "chill" and it will certainly cut out the nightmare of trying to find a parking space.

Baggs grin. I sometimes watch Border Control. It's amazing what lengths some folk go to in order to smuggle naughty stuff through customs. shock

Baggs Sun 30-Jul-23 11:58:38

I hope the bus trips to and fro will not exhaust you too much, corner. Glad MrC is getting the best treatment. Onwards and upwards 🤞

In other news, the lovely Japanese teapot MrB brought back from Switzerland will for ever be known in this house as the "Terrorist Teapot". In its beribboned box inside a paper carrier bag, next to MrB's iPad, it apparently "caused problems" at Stansted Airport. When it and the iPad were separated and scanned individually there was no problem. Goodness knows what they were plotting between them! 😱

Charleygirl5 Sun 30-Jul-23 09:02:25

Pleased to see you are thinking of going back home corner but the daily trips to and from the hospital will be exhausting. At least the end is in sight and it is just for a week.

I do hope one of your sons will take Mr. C home next weekend. He will feel very weak but there is no place like home and he will look forward to your own bed.

The sun is shining and I hope the rain stays away long enough to get the grass cut this pm as apparently it will be showery for 10 days, cannot wait.

cornergran Sun 30-Jul-23 07:12:13

Hello everyone

Pleased to report Mr C is improving, albeit slowly, still hampered by umpteen drips, drains and technology. He's very weak, eating little but in wonderfully good spirits. With luck a move from HDU to a ward tomorrow where the physios will begin their work. The care has been superb. We’re hoping for discharge by or at next weekend.

Family have acted as chauffeur and chef since Thursday. I’m welcome to stay or indeed return, I’m so fortunate but you know they need to get on with their own lives, as do I. The plan is to go it alone from tomorrow. I’ll be on public transport, just under 2 hours each way, parking at the hospital is simply impossible after 7am. A tiny car park (around 24 spaces with for 3 Blue Badge users ) serves oncology, dermatology and cardiac patients. The road outside is invariably full. Other parking is either too far or too steep to access, now if I could whistle and the car would come no problem smile. My own physicality is severely limiting No matter, there are other ways to get there, I’d rather let the bus driver take the strain. It’s a pretty route until the city.

My thanks to you all for your support, its meant such a lot. Many of you know what a lonely process this can feel. Also to charlie for her updates. My days will be pretty full, please forgive me if I don’t appear.

ann I do love a labrador puppy. Such wonderfully uncoordinated creatures. Having said that - not in my home grin.

So pleased to read your news sued. How wonderful.

Good to see you urms. Always thinking of you.

I’ll be back soon. Take care everyone.

My GD’s friend has been round this afternoon with their new Labrador puppy, Lola.
She is adorable but if I had ever been tempted for a nano second to get one the feeling went.
She blundered round the room, she chewed my sandal with my foot still in it, she weed on the carpet and pulled a standard lamp over by grabbing the flex and running away with it in her mouth.
Then she looked up with those velvet, melting eyes!!
So pleased when she went.
Have a good night everyone.

Don’t often see spotty dogs now Yia.
I want to know, with only two of us, how the kitchen floor needed washed again today! I can see it from where I sit in the other room, so it catches my eye.
Newspaper day and garden pottering, in between the showers, another cucumber, two courgettes and five tomatoes, everything is slower, but getting there.
I hope Mrc continues to improve and corner is getting a little rest.
Enjoy your evening.

Baggs Sat 29-Jul-23 19:22:21

What a relief for you and your son, Suedonim! Here's hoping the blood results are excellent too.
