Anyone else fed up with North Easterly wind flow?

I realise this will just be a comment that affects those of us who live in the East of England but is anyone else fed up and worn out with this constant north easterly wind. I’m putting the fire on every evening and still feeling I need to dress like winter during the day in spite of the sunshine! It’s starting to make me feel a bit depressed and I know if the wind changes direction and it gets too hot I’ll be complaining about that too šŸ˜‚ but I’m just so cold all of the time! Anyone else fed up with it?

Opening post is bang on the money. The cold win is both constant and unbelievable when you consider it’s now June 1st.
Not one morning that I can recollect this year where the high majority have been out in the mornings without needing to don a jacket.

Very warm and sunny here this afternoon after a grey, chilly morning.

The doors to the garden are still open but I can feel it getting slightly more chilly now.

Even colder today feels like November got two hot water bottles tonight one on my knee and one at my back So fed up with it

Just going to shut the French door!
I'm getting cool in my short-sleeved top.

(Sorry).

It’s another of the same today. Grey, windy , miserable, looks and feels more like winter. My tiny hands are frozen as is the rest of me.
Do I cave in and put the heating on? Trying not to as it doesn’t seem right but will keep that option open . Trying not to feel fed up, but this horrible weather seems to have been going on fir ages...while the rest of the country is hot and sunny. Not that I am jealous, oh yes, actually I am. wink

Still windy in London - very blustery in the early hours but seems to have quietened a bit.

Today looks to be following the pattern of the past week, chilly overcast and windy in the morning followed by a warm sunny afternoon and evening - I hope so as off to a BBQ later sunshine

It’s very rare for us to have a prolonged period of better weather in the west than in the east, but we’re enjoying another beautiful morning in Wales today. It is still windy, but it’s not cold, and very few clouds.

We are in Shropshire, not far from the Welsh border and have had the cool wind nearly every day recently. DH really feels it as he takes blood thinners, he worked outside a lot before he retired and never felt the cold until he started on the blood thinners.

The NE wind as even had the audacity to penetrate all the way down to the SW of England to the (normally) balmy shores of South Devon. What cheek!

We found it just as troublesome in France when we recently stayed at DH's home near Le Mans.

has, not as!!

It must be less sheltered here because it's chilly this morning - 13⁰C feels like 11⁰C apparently.

Serves me right for being smug yesterday!

Yes this morning was really cold in East London . My summer dog walk coat not warm enough.
Keep putting away my winter clothes and getting them out again.
That's English weather for you.

It’s definitely not sheltered, I’m on a hill, but the sun is hot although it’s windy. It’s probably about 18 degrees at the moment - too warm for a jumper whilst gardening anyway, if that’s a gauge. I think I’m further west than you though, so it must be on its way shortly!

Callistemon21 Fri 02-Jun-23 15:06:38

It's warmed up now!

18⁰C which is a few degrees cooler than yesterday.

I waited until 11 and suddenly got that oomph, that I have waited ages for, that oomph that said s*d the wind, the sun is out and I want to ride my bike. Naturally had no idea what to wear but I was happy in my fleece jacket, which felt ridiculous in june.

It was good, I felt comfy and oh so grateful for the high hedges that cut the wind. The constant NE wind is horrible, ruining this start of summer for many

BlueBelle Fri 02-Jun-23 15:31:54

It’s 12/13* degrees here with a strong North Easterly wind and no sun and feel flipping cold I ve got a thick hooded cardy on over a jumper and a hot water bottle as I ve just sat down for a late afternoon rest
I m miserable and my bones are cold I need some nicer weather

You can't imagine how glad I am to read your post! I'm totally fed up with this cold wind, while there are reports of the 'hottest day of the year' in the press. Where? Not here.
I keep hoping to see a report asking people to please give a thought to the suffering people on the east coast! And according to the Met Office, it looks as though we'll have it for at least another fortnight. Plus the garden is as dry as a bone.
Apologies for the moan, but I do feel less alone now! Thank you.

BlueBelle Mon 05-Jun-23 09:29:46

We had one day of sun not hot sun but warm sun now the wind which never went is whipping up and it’s as grey and miserable or as Larry Grayson would have said it’s a grey day
Come on summer I m totally fed up let’s all suffer if needs be but to have half the country basking while the half shiver isn’t fair

silverlining48 Mon 05-Jun-23 09:52:18

I could have put it better BlueBelle. It’s been a dire start to summer and I don’t even have a holiday to look forward to.

silverlining48 Mon 05-Jun-23 09:53:43

Typo could NOT have put it better . ...

I have been checking the stats. Both March, April and May had below average hours of sunshine. March and April had some of the lowest figures on record. May was not that low, but lower than average. crondallweather.co.uk/daily-monthly-and-seasonal-sunshine-hours-statistics-for-crondall/.

Barmeyoldbat Tue 06-Jun-23 17:28:59

I am in North Devon for a week and it was freezing this money out on a bike

silverlining48 Thu 08-Jun-23 14:20:20

I have just taken my fleece off this afternoon. The sun is out but the wind is too. Not complaining as where I am its been dreadful fir nearly 2 weeks. Just booked a week away next month hoping fir some mediteranian sunshine. Hurrah!

MrsKen33 Thu 08-Jun-23 15:01:13

I think all of you suffering from the chill are due for a 26-30% heat wave over the weekend. Good luck

Not where we are MrsKensad
