Good Morning Everyone,
Its light but grey with a easterly wind here in brackley today so far .
with the weather as it is , I am going to have to wear a winter jacket ,and not a lighter fleece.
The wind chill makes it uncomfortable.
My usual trip to Bicester this morning , the last few days of the current bus service number next week onwards it will be different .
Take Care,
Mick

A belated good morning all from stinking hot Siberia. I have been busy all day running round various government departments and had a medical in the process.
I walked miles in the heat because the bus was heaving with sweaty bodies.
I wish everyone a great day.

Borrheid, my dear pal, so sorry you aren't doing too well. I have made similar with Lorne, but never realised that it was a form of stovies.

I hope you find some improvement soon. I have the hairdresser's next week, I will give your mum a wave!

Borrheid55 Thu 01-Jun-23 12:37:44

Greetings from cloudy Kent. Marydoll my mother used to make stovies with chopped up Lorne sausage. I never learnt to make it- she didn’t have time for cooking lessons while rearing eight of us! My youngest sister knows all the family recipes however!
Not doing well at the moment with my BVH ( bilateral vestibular hypofunction). Keeping a very low profile but I do read GN every day.
Have a great day all.

Good morning Mick and all. I am quite tired and slept late as we finally arrived back on the south coast after a month in Scotland. We had pretty good weather while there but it’s even better now (except in Angus!). Hope you get your share of the sun soon, Taichinan. It was also cold and grey when we left West Yorkshire, where we spent a day and one night with my cousin and her husband. We hadn’t seen them since pre-Covid so it was good to catch up in person.

I haven’t caught up with all the news on the GM thread but thoughts are with all struggling with health conditions or those of family.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good Morning everyone from a lovely sunny Co Armagh
I’m sitting outside trying to identify the bird song , we had an excellent talk and slideshow about local birds and their song , but I think it has all gone in one ear and out the other !

hollysteers Thu 01-Jun-23 10:33:30

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Had a nice time with DD and DS. Loin of pork and excellent meal. DD good at financial stuff and we arranged my car insurance and another holiday in September to take some of my DHs ashes to the IOM, his favourite place since childhood.
I will enjoy the steam train whilst there.
DD is very active, runs every morning and gardens.

My holiday with DF has been postponed until September as he is still struggling with the after effects of his macular degeneration/cataract op. He’s now on antidepressants and beta blockers and has calmed down.
Dreamt I was with the Countess at Highclere Castle and we were getting on like a house on fire😁
Thoughts to all with worries, happy birthday Mr.Oops, nice photos and white rabbits 🐇
Will read through properly later.

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.

We have been spending a lot of time in the garden while this lovely weather lasts. We will probably be doing the same today, but I must go to the post office. Not looking forward to that as there are roadworks everywhere.

Have a good day all 🌻🌻🌻

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 01-Jun-23 09:59:30

Good morning fro another grey Harrogate it was quite chill yesterday, yet my DSis north of the border was sweltered!!
Happy Birthday 🎂 MrOops.
Don’t know yet whether we will have the company of DGD or not today. Sainsburies delivery was early so it’s all put away.
I recognise Bodnant in your picture Susan it’s so beautiful there.
Have the best day possible folks

A late good morning from an overcast Durham. Haven’t posted for a while - been away and a bit lethargic lately. However, I’ve had a handyman in and all my little jobs are done and my new curtains are coming at the weekend. Just pictures to source, then I’m thinking of having the house valued. No real plans to move, but I’m interested to have an opinion.

Think I’m getting soft in my old age, as I seem to feel cold now. Definitely a jumper day again today. I’ve DGS1 here for a couple of days, so off to a farm with animals and a play area soon.
My thoughts are with Urms (memories) and others feeling unwell or caring for their poorly families. X

hulahoop Thu 01-Jun-23 09:42:29

A late good morning from Essex by the sea. Another cloudy, cold day, where is Summer (and Spring).
I've already been to the supermarket, a good time to go as there was hardly anyone there.
Admin to do at the moment then a pile of ironing.
Have a lovely day everyone even if there is no sun xxx

Wyllow3 Thu 01-Jun-23 08:50:01

Another grey rather chilly morning from S Yorks.

Missed 2 days reporting in - had a very nice walk with a G netter on Tuesday, and yesterday was busy busy catching up on jobs collecting this and dropping that off. My lovely cleaner is here today but its a taking it easy day.

Very best wishes for poorlies and family poorlies. And may meet ups and family caring go well.

EkwaNimitee Thu 01-Jun-23 08:48:43

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, cool Carlisle where the sun keeps struggling to get out. Yesterday early was the same and yet we soon ended up with a sunny day and I found it too hot to work in the garden! I wish all you chilly people elsewhere the same.

Thanks for that advice about white t shirts, grandMattie, I shall certainly have a look, I didn't think of trying there and I walked past it too. Are your neighbours mostly couples? I have found that older couples often don't like to be too friendly with us widow ladies for reasons you can guess!
Today I must get on with some neglected housework and hope to get in the garden later. The ground has become like concrete in places yet I must get my french beans in even if I have to wield my mini pickaxe.

What a good photo Mizuna, perfectly caught.

I'm off to hang up my newly fetched out summer clothes . Will they get much wear I wonder?
I wish you all a good day.

Forsythia Thu 01-Jun-23 08:43:43

Late good morning from the south coast where we, too, have a cold grey day after yesterdays very hot one! The grass looks dry and sorry for itself in places. The roses are blooming and the peonies. We only put them all in last year so I am really pleased. Today, ironing after our return from holiday at the weekend plus a trip,to the garden centre to buy a few more plants.
Hope everybody enjoys their day. Also, that we get some sun!

Marydoll Thu 01-Jun-23 08:39:46

Mizuna

I think all three of my fruit trees peaked too soon Marydoll as they have all done the proverbial 'June drop' and shed every single fruit. The hot weather here caused it I think. I'm really glad yours are fruiting.

Thats a shame, Mizuna. The advantage (and there are not many) of living in a cooler climate.

Grammaretto Thu 01-Jun-23 08:36:12

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Speak for yourselves all you chilly southerners grin we have enjoyed some of the hottest days this year.
Yesterday I took my NZ cousins on a trip to Biggar.
London's Big but Biggar's Biggar (as the saying goes)
We needed sun hats.
I shall take them somewhere else today when/if they get up.

Good news for some Baubles, Oops and Mick smile
Life on the "estate" doesn't sound too bad gMattie and I'm sure the girl from Mauritius will soon shake things up.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Susan56 Thu 01-Jun-23 08:28:46

Good morning from Shropshire.

Yesterday we went to Bodnant gardens and Llandudno to celebrate DH’s birthday.

Today we have to do a frozen food shop as one of us accidentally switched the freezer off.The waste of good food was very upsetting.

That’s shocking about your surgery monk. One dr would be bad enough but three😩

Have a good day all and thoughts to all unwell and those with worries about family members🦩🌺

Mizuna Thu 01-Jun-23 08:28:19

Taichinan Thu 01-Jun-23 08:25:32

Sorry, that post shouldn't have posted then! Anyway I'm snuggled up in my winter oodie and looking forward to a bit of sunshine this afternoon. 🤞. (I've just noticed it's drizzling out there. Honestly!!)
I only had less than 3 hours' sleep last night - just couldn't drop off - so it doesn't bode well for my poor tai chi class. I shall do all the correct moves - just not necessarily in the right order! - and my balance will be off. Oh well, we'll have a laugh, something worth more than gold on a day like today.
Those 'withdrawal symptoms' that your DD is experiencing sound awful gingster. I'm so sorry
Glad Miss Oops is home, and happy birthday to Mr Oops.
Baubles that was worrying for you but glad to hear the good news.
My brain is being decidedly sluggish this morning so I'll stop trying to recall everyone's doings. Just enjoy them, grey skies or no.
That photo of the 5 year old grandson on a rope swing brought back memories of lots of happy times in my own young days on just such a swing in the woods near my home - much more exciting than any garden swing!
Now I must be off showerwards. Have a good day, and enjoy your visit to your static Ash x

Marydoll Thu 01-Jun-23 08:14:01

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where its 11°C. Another pleasant day is forecast.
Mick, I hope you are taking it easy after your scare.

Auntieflo, you certainly have a lot to contend with, I shall keep you, along with the others in the sick bay, in my thoughts and prayers.

Baubles, what a relief for you, I am glad to read all is well. A similar thing happened to me twice, once on Christmas Eve. I was sick with worry and no reassurance helps, until you have your scan.. It's good to hear, that someone was on the ball. Once I was about to be kept in after having a chest xray and a suspicious area had been spotted, I suggested that the doctors check my previous xrays and sould be able to confirm that it was the cement holding my fractured vertebrae together! 😉
It's great how technology has improved health care and previous scans can be compared, with current ones.

I plan to do nothing today. Yesterday I felt pretty grim, a consequence of having overdone things the previous day. Thank goodness for my stash of vertigo medication.
It's strange how over exertion of my heart manifests itself, I had no angina pain, just felt hellish. Disappointingly, I had big plans to work in the garden.
DH had requested stovies for dinner (not a favourite of mine), it wasn't until I defrosted the pack, I realised it wasn't beef mince! I certainly wasn't on the ball and had to come up with something very quickly! 😁

Trying to be helpful and without my supervision guidance, DH thought he would sort my new single solar lights, by putting them on the trees .
Muzuna, I looked out last night and couldn't figure out, why my pear tree was lit up. Out of the many trees in our garden, he chose that one, which I have nurtured that baby, (as you have done), since it was a new born twig. 🤬
By the way, it looks as if it will have much fruit.

Wishing you all a pleasant day, especially if you have plans.

Stilllearning Thu 01-Jun-23 08:08:33

Good morning from my bit of S Lanarkshire, definitely cool and grey, promised sun and warmth this afternoon seems unlikely!

baubles: what a great relief for you yesterday, it must have been a difficult 24 hours since the call, happy days.

I’ve had a quiet few days since I haven’t been on top form but am looking forward to a catch up this afternoon with a few former colleagues whom I haven’t seen for quite some time. Fortunately it’s local but I’ll have to up my game!
Adding to my woes, my car has had to go in for yet another expensive repair, I’m wishing I had taken the plunge and replaced it last year but the age/how long will I be driving for debate made me dither when prices were high for second hand cars. Oh well, sorry to moan.

Hopefully the mild weather will last through next week when it’s our towns Lanimer festivities, lots of hard work has gone into the preparations. 8 year old DGS has been chosen as the Ringmaster in a Greatest Show on Earth presentation/ performance and is currently refusing point blank to wear the top hat🥺!

Hoping all holidays and visits continue to go well and wishing everyone a good day. As ever prayers for those of us who need them.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Large fluffy white rabbits 🐇 . I had a very strange night. I woke every couple of hours and finally had a strange dream that I was in purgatory. Very odd. OH and I are going to a funeral at noon. An old friend of over 40 years was widowed a few years ago. She remarried four years ago to a widower and he died a couple of weeks back. All very sad. I will pop round and see friends this evening. Have a good day.

Beechnut Thu 01-Jun-23 08:03:19

Good morning everyone. It’s overcast here on Severnside, should be better later. I’ve put my snuggly dressing gown on this morning while I have breakfast.

Off out early to hopefully make a dentist appointment, then a few errands and a meet up then off to do the weekly shop.

Happy Birthday wishes to MrOops 🎂🍺
Have a good day all 💐

GrannySomerset Thu 01-Jun-23 08:01:09

Cool and grey this morning but the garden will still need watering later. In the meantime hair dresser for a much needed trim and various admin tasks to look forward to.
