What do you think I would do?

This is intended to be a light hearted ‘dilemma’ based on a Radio 2 Saturday morning feature, ‘What would Sally do?’

I realise it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I often listen in while doing housework.

So….following the same format, what do you think I would do faced with the following dilemma…

“I’m getting ready to meet a friend for a walk along the seafront and ironing a favourite top when I notice the top button is very loose and if it’s undone reveals far too much (wrinkly) cleavage for my liking. I’m running short of time so do I…

a) Grab the loose thread and wind it round where the button is sewn on hoping it will hold?

b) Message my friend telling her I’ll be a bit late while I search for the sewing box?

c) Pull the button off so as not to lose it and think, To hell with the unflattering décolletage?”

What do you think I would do and what would you do?

Do add a ‘dilemma’ of your own for us to solve. 🤔😋

Good try! I’ve listened to ‘Sally’s dilemmas’ on R2. It’s light hearted fun
I’m amazed how many grans didn’t get the concept
They must have failed a lot of exams with multiple choices!
Top marks for your patience

I think it's merlotgran who needs patience, Duvetdiva

Or a large glass of merlot 😁
🍷 (that looks half empty already)

Wear another top or a dress instead
Tie my hair back or use frizzees to calm it down
Take Turkey to another person's house to finish cooking n let everyone know what happened
Have coffee the next week when you're free.
BTW am I the only person on gransnet that enjoys ironing lol?

E - I wish you hadn't asked that question. My dilemma 😁
(Not that any are valuable antiques but to some are "collectibles")

D Be thankful of where I live fancythat
Although always beware of next door neighbours who borrow a couple of sheep to keep the lawn short. 🐏 🐑

Just shout "Mint sauce".

fancythat Sun 04-Jun-23 10:45:24

Call an auctioneer

I keep hearing sheep baa.
I am not a big fan of sheep.

Do I
Tell the farmer
Put in earplugs
Put up with it
Be thankful of where I live

[I am being tongue in cheek]. Though their frequent baaing is a bit tedious!

Cabbie21 Sun 04-Jun-23 07:50:00

Wear another top.
Leave hair as it is.
Ignore the doorbell
Swap on to next week.
Let the kids enjoy it

I need to declutter a lifetime of valuable collectibles, tools etc.
Do I
Call an auctioneer to value and sell them?
Put them on ebay?( and have the hassle of packing etc?
Give them to charity shops?
Fill a skip?

Lauren59 Sun 04-Jun-23 00:35:40

Ring her and cancel. 🤣

merlotgran Sun 04-Jun-23 00:03:11

A. Sulking’s hard work so rule that one out.
C. Gatecrash an 8th olds bowling party…Really???
B. Smile and say, ‘Have a lovely time’ (through gritted teeth) then pour yourself a large 🍷

My grandson is 8 and is having friends round the house going bowling. Should I be upset for not being invited to attend. My daughter's son.

You're supposed to give three alternatives, cavailerlorraine

Eg

A Should I tell them I'm upset and sulk?
B Should I smile and say "Have a lovely time"
C Should I gatecrash the bowling party?

No.

Dianehillbilly1957 Sat 03-Jun-23 20:11:40

Put on another top of course!

MaggsMcG Sat 03-Jun-23 19:37:18

Go to the window (that's what I did when I had Covid).

merlotgran Sat 03-Jun-23 13:55:50

I think some are taking this thread a little too seriously. 🤣🤣

LovelyLady Sat 03-Jun-23 13:50:50

Really? Wrap the thread round.
Asap sew the button and I agree with someone who said bring a scarf.
What a dull life some have.
Just laugh if it happens to come loose.

Gundy Sat 03-Jun-23 13:02:49

I like Knittynatter’s answer. Just take off and go with the flow.
Whatever will be will be… it’s hot out there!

Beebawbabbity Sat 03-Jun-23 13:01:21

First choice would be another top or if that’s not possible then a tiny safety pin.
Maybe treat yourself to some more tops😁

Scottiebear Sat 03-Jun-23 11:48:41

Put a wee safety pin in the back.

Nannan2 Sat 03-Jun-23 11:39:08

I would put on a different top.If none available i'd wrap cotton round button then secure with a tiny drop of clear nail varnish at back.Leave while got rest of me ready, then wear.

Nannan2 Sat 03-Jun-23 11:34:15

lixy😂🤣😅

Annierob Sat 03-Jun-23 11:28:10

I would put on another top 😊

Is this a game question?

If yes[or even if not] I would say no.
At age 8, the child is getting more independent.

You are in bed in the day with a cold/flu/hangover etc and someone knocks at the door. You dont have a ring type doorbell. Do you:-

#1 ignore it
#2 go to a window or similar to see who it is and then decide
#3 get out of bed and struggle to the door

I would ignore it. If its important they will leave a note or try again sometime.

Original op - like some others D. find another top
It nearly lost me too at the word ironing!

Hair one - I would ask a neighbour. Even if wasnt close. They can always choose to say no.

Turkey - D. would go round to a relative who lives a mile away [couldnt ask her for hairdryer as she doesnt use one].

Above - ah. I did number 1. once upon a time. Lost me a boyfriend sort of. We were near end of relationship anyway I think. I think he got affronted that I ignored him. In my defence, I really did feel rotten. And also in my defence, I didnt want him to catch it. But I could have handled it all better I suppose.
Oh well!
