I think it’s lovely and I’m happy for the family.

Casdon Archer is a fab name, unusual and striking.
I think it’s great to have a name that can be a ‘proper’ name but can be shortened.
Elizabeth is a favourite of mine as there are so many different diminutives to choose from

I’ve got a young Archie in my family, but his full name is Archer, rather than Archibald.
I don’t mind Ernest, it’s a okay name, just hope he’s not known as Little Ern all his life.

I’m always entertained by critical comments about babies names. The old trad names are making a comeback, being reclaimed by a generation. I rather like the full name, Ernest, Charles, Archibald etc rather than the shortened forms but then I’m an old grannie 😉

I like the full names too, generally, but not always and I do prefer Archie to Archibald.
Presumably the elderly Archies I know/knew are Archibalds.

Ernest is preferable to the shortened version, Ernie, imo.

Ernest is a name in our family too, my grandfather was an Ernie (Ernest) and now my sisters grandson is an Ernie. Lots of them about apparently 5 and under.

Nice photos of the baby and one has big brother in it too. I'm not keen on the name but as long as they like it, that's all that matters.

I haven’t come across any Ernies, either among my own acquaintances or in the Daily Telegraph Births column, which I follow online - the only place outside my own circles where I can find what people are calling their children.

It's very fashionable at the moment. I know of at least 3 Ernies. One is aged 15 so been popular a while.
Ronnie reminds me of the Kray bros along with Reggie.

One of his middle names is Ronnie, which is a diminutive of Ronald. Why on earth not just use Ronald? This is a trend I’ve noticed recently. Alfie, Ollie, Charlie and so on as given names.

Ernest to me is an old man’s name, but I suppose they are too young to be familiar with it.

Ernest? Not one I would have chosen! Well, it appears that they kept that quiet. Hope mother & baby are well.

Three days is a long time though my DIL had five days of on and off labour and is damaged .

I was wondering if , as she has a history of back problems if that was the reason why she's in hospital for a lengthy period without a baby being delivered .

I asked my friend , who is an experienced tutor midwife and she thinks that it's either fake news , a back problem or a condition like pre-eclampsia - either way a c - section would have been performed .

So it's probably fake news .

I stick by my feeling that the initial report was incorrect. It's been 3 days now. Simply wouldn't happen to someone in her position.

Someone somewhere out there on the internet mentioned that she was having a planned C-section because of her back. She had steel rods put in her back for scoliosis when a child and has lived with them ever since. Not sure if the first birth was a C-section though. Quite honestly, I wasn't interested enough to delve any deeper. Either way, it sounds quite a gruelling experience and I wish her all the best and await news of a baby.
