Good morning from another grey chilly Suffolk.

Off to keep fit soon and having missed my 2 classes last week I feel the need of the exercise. I’ve agreed to do an additional piece of work this afternoon because of absences and yesterday was spent reading the necessary paperwork.

Reading about the gooseberry jam making and suggestion of adding a sprig of elder flowers reminded me of making elderflower syrup every year. I loved the smell in the kitchen as it seeped overnight with lots of lemon as well. The children thought it was very grown up served with sparkling water and called elderflower champagne.

Hope those with worries have as positive a day as possible.

Brook best wishes to your husband for tomorrow

Good morning from Durham. A miserable grey day yesterday, cold too and looks like the same today - max temp 15.
Coffee this morning with 2 friends at a local garden centre, then an hour in the garden before taking DD2’s little dog out for a walk.
Picking up DGS1 from After School Club later, so may have to jiggle the dog’s exercise.
New curtains arrived yesterday, but I can’t find the old hooks, so a quick trip to Wilko to fit in.
Best wishes to all. X

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. The cleaner should be coming this morning and the gardener this afternoon. Hopefully she will bring an acer to plant for us. It is the WI Committee meeting this evening so I have bits of admin to do beforehand. Have a good day everyone.

kittylester Wed 07-Jun-23 07:58:37

Good morning all from a cold and grey North Leicestershire. I have boosted the heating - again.

I must tackle the ironing this morning and then pop to Waitrose with a return for JL.

Gala Wed 07-Jun-23 07:49:01

Good morning from a very dull Sefton. There was a late appearance of the sun yesterday. Better late than never. Looks like it will do the same today.
Zoom exercise class this morning followed by Pilates in another town - but only if DH returns from taking the car to be serviced with the promised courtesy car. He booked the car in forgetting we go to Pilates every Wednesday morning. Timing is tight.
Wishing everyone a good day.

brook2704 Wed 07-Jun-23 07:43:28

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a cloudy start but the sun is due out later. Yesterday afternoon was gorgeous again, hope today is the same
Safe travels and enjoy your very well deserved holiday Oops, try not to worry about your DDs too much although I know it’s easier said than done
A busy morning today, I’m meeting a friend for a quick coffee before going to the gym for a couple of classes and then a quick trip to Tesco. I want to be home early afternoon as we need to get a few things together for DHs knee surgery tomorrow. We need to be at the hospital for 7am so it’ll be an early start
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Grandmabatty Wed 07-Jun-23 07:32:06

Grandmattie I make gooseberry jam every year and I'll try your tip too.

Mizuna Wed 07-Jun-23 07:30:49

Good morning from sunny Cornwall. Off to the beach with a good book, sun hat and factor 50 suncream today.

grandMattie Wed 07-Jun-23 07:30:46

cornergran Wed 07-Jun-23 07:30:05

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset

Cloud with us for most of the day yesterday meant I was happy doing indoor tasks. Off out today so pleased to see the sun. Another foray on a steam train, A small, volunteer run line with an excellent cafe. Garden centre on the way home.

Good luck with the IKEA jigsaw grandmattie. Safe travels oops and all on the move.

Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

grandMattie Wed 07-Jun-23 07:29:19

karma, your gooseberries reminded me of one of DH’s favourite jams. When making gooseberry jam, throw in a couple of heads of elderberry per kg of berries during the final boil. You remove the stems before potting. It makes a gorgeously scented jam. Give it a try.

baubles Wed 07-Jun-23 07:24:56

Good morning all from cloudy and cool South Lanarkshire.

Clever thinking Susan!

Safe trip Oops, enjoy your holiday.

Last evening I visited a friend who lives close by and enjoyed our tea and chat.

It was very warm in the sorting room yesterday with the steamer in use for a few hours. Every item of clothing is steamed before going on the rails and the only fresh air comes from the open shop door which is a fair distance away. I may need to invest in a fan.

More of the same today, hopefully it will be another busy day. There’s satisfaction in knowing that we, as the charity retailers, raise the funding for the hugely valuable services the charity provides for victims of strokes and heart attacks.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gingster Wed 07-Jun-23 07:23:28

Good morning all and yes it’s grey here , AGAIN , here in Essex.

At Bridge club we all discussed the scam - I was the only fool who believed it to be genuine. What a close call I had!
Isn’t it horrible that we have to be so suspicious! My only thought was to try to help a 91yr old lady, in hospital trying to buy her granddaughters a gift. Oh well ‘once bitten …..’. . 🥵.

Happy holidays oops . Try not to worry about the DD’s. The break will do you good.

Good thinking re H , Susan. That worked well. 👍

I will take DGD to school, back quickly to hand over the car to Dh as he’s going fishing.
I’ll walk up to town (market day) and on the way up go to Mass.
It all works well as the church is half way up the long hill, so I have a rest, a prayer, and a bit of peace and contemplation before heading up to the busyness in town.

I hope your days are happy ones 🌸

ginny Wed 07-Jun-23 07:22:16

Good morning everyone. No sun yesterday and overcast at the moment here in N. Bucks.
Another ‘Jack in the box’ day for me.
WI sewing group this morning, craft club this afternoon and WI meeting this evening. In between I must iron a few things and pack for a couple of nights away with friends. Oh an an hours babysitting between six and seven.
Oops I hope you can relax and enjoy Cyprus.
Healing thoughts to all who need them.
Wishing all a good day with some sunshine and a smile along the way.

GrannySomerset Wed 07-Jun-23 07:17:44

Early start as I am due a visit from someone to look at the not working properly smart meter which has been a problem since it was installed last November. Due between 8 and 12 but am not hopeful that this is a reliable estimate. Could mean a rather wasted day, but we’ll see.

Happy furniture assembly, gMattie, rather you than me, and enjoy your holiday, Oops, you deserve a break. Hope the sunshine cheers everyone.

Greyduster Wed 07-Jun-23 07:12:46

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Another grey cool day in South Yorkshire. The sun never made it at all yesterday but I was working indoors all day. DD is coming over today to help me clear out my shed and do some other gardening jobs. I have made a fish pie for lunch - her favourite and mine. She has to leave mid afternoon as she is running with a friend. They are in training for another competitive run at the end of the month. I wish I had half her energy!
Have the best day you can folks.

Grandmabatty Wed 07-Jun-23 07:11:19

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° with low cloud. Yesterday's burnt off about half two,so I hope today it burns off quickly. Susan I'm glad it went well yesterday. Grandmattie good luck building the IKEA furniture. I hope your ds will provide muscle. Ash there are so many of these bugs around. I know to my cost.
Yesterday dgs2 was just miserable most of the morning. However a two and a half hour nap helped restore his normal equanimity. In the afternoon we went to the swings with his big brother and that helped end the day with grandma on a happier note. Dgs1 was tired as the whole nursery had gone on a sponsored walk to Callander Park which is a good trek for little legs. Dgs2 and I had gone to meet them but sadly we had to leave as dgs2 was just so unhappy with life. The awful neighbour across the road diagonally left yesterday. She has lost custody of her children because of drugs and alcohol abuse and her dogs were removed too. She's a young woman and it's very sad for her but those boys saw things they shouldn't have had to. The police were called twice a couple of weeks ago and the boys removed to their dad's house. The house and garden is in an awful state, apparently. Next door to her's have started to do up their house as they are downsizing so there will be two new neighbours to get used to.
Today I'm staying home. My cold is now at the worst stage and I'd rather not inflict it on anyone else. I will potter about the house and garden. I'll go back to the garden centre for more compost and plants then garden watering then light housework. Have a good day all.

Good morning all from a dull Black country, no sun at all yesterday and the heating has come on again this morning.
Nursery pick up today and we have a carvery booked for later yippee no cooking.
Safe travels Oops enjoy your break.
Have a good Wednesday everyone and may you all find some ☀️.

karmalady Wed 07-Jun-23 06:50:43

Good morning, sunny already and it will be much warmer this afternoon. Cold wind though

A nice pottering day yesterday, including bits in the garden and picking more gooseberries, I topped and tailed almost 2 kg. Now washed, dried and in the fridge for bottling later today. One more lot to bottle after today, perhaps in 5 days and then I will file my nails short as I use them to top and tail. The plants are still full but the rest of the berries don`t get topped and tailed, just washed and frozen. They are such good plants

I need to get some exercise so am getting out by 9, only an hour but it sets me up and is not at all boring

Have a lovely day

Susan56 Wed 07-Jun-23 06:42:50

Good morning from Shropshire.

H enjoyed his time at school yesterday thank you Ash.We are looking after him today so will hear all about it.

We had a lovely day in Stafford. We stopped at the retail park on the way.I went shopping while DH watched the trains.Over twenty trains in just under an hour!We collected B from school putting our new strategy into play.He likes to run home as fast as he can and we are not fast enough to keep up!As there is only one corner between school and his house I went to school and DH waited on the corner. The rule was as soon as he saw grandpa he could start running!Worked well.

Good luck with the IKEA instructions grandMattie😳

Off over the border into North Wales now to take DGD to school and collect H.

Thoughts to all with worries and illness.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩🌺

GrannyGravy13 Wed 07-Jun-23 06:21:58

Morning all

Another busy day chez Gravy Grange.

(((Hugs)) for those with troubles and illnesses

Have a great day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

grandMattie Wed 07-Jun-23 05:56:46

Good morning from yet another dry day in Bristol.
I moved furniture around to make space for the new stuff coming in.
I spent all afternoon waiting for IKEA to deliver “between 3pm and 7 pm”. By 7 pm they still hadn’t arrived… At 7.15,I’m received a call to say they would be another 45 minutes! Grrr…. I wasn’t best pleased. (Have this second received a text to say they would be here yesterday!). In this day and age, it surely isn’t too difficult to warn customers they’re going to be late?
DS and I had a very nice dinner which included macaroni cheese. He doesn’t have much cheese in India, leave macaroni cheese. I had also bought a delicious French tarte au citron from Waitrose for dessert.
Today, collection of furniture by the Salvation Army, then put all the new stuff together. I enjoy the puzzle and the actual assembly.
May today be kind to you all. Carpe diem 🦩❤️🦩🦩🦩

Ashcombe Wed 07-Jun-23 05:54:41

Good morning from a sunny Torbay.

This afternoon we shall attend a talk at Wednesday Club about the Devon Air Ambulance, being given by the son of one of the members which should be interesting.

Yesterday, we waited in for two parcels which arrived and my cleaner who didn’t. She has Covid, apparently. Please take care to remain well, Mick, as there are some nasty bugs around.

I hope H enjoyed his taster session at school, Susan56. He will have lots to tell you, no doubt!

What a crafty scam that was which you described yesterday, Gingster! So glad you survived unscathed.

Safe travels, Oopsadaisy1 and try to put family worries to one side while you’re away. 😎

Happy hump day! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 07-Jun-23 05:48:41

Good morning Mick and all who follow from another overcast morning in Oxfordshire, the sun came out yesterday at 5.30pm, better late than never I guess.
Off to the airport in half an hour to Cyprus for 2 weeks.
I wish I wasn’t leaving the girls with so many problems, but they have assured me they will be ok and at least we have face time and what’s app to keep in touch.
When do we stop worrying about our ACs?
Hope everyone has a good day, my thoughts are with those who are unwell or have poorly families.
