Hate summer

I love the summer, not much at present, but when sunshine it puts a happier light to the day, feeing of positivity, is that a word? Oh and the lighter nights,wonderful. Hate long days of winter, can be very depressing for many

I knew people would virtuously come back re the heating. There's absolutely no chance of putting the heating on in this flat.
I'm sorry for anyone who won't see another summer but that doesn't stop me and others hating hot sunny weather.
Is this thread an example of social media provoking polarisation of opinions?
Bottom line: some people hate hot sunny weather others like it. Each to their own.

Bridie22, that's a very good point, about not having to put on heating and storing credit.
There are a fair number of posts on GN, from people who are struggling with high energy bills, they must be so relieved that the sun is shining.

Aveline, you are so fortunate if you can afford the heating on in midsummer, some people can't, and this is usually the period when users store a bit of credit for the coming winter months.
So back to you, tough luck cold lovers !

Love the long days but dread the heat. I do not enjoy the constant layer of sweat that I have on me during the hot days. I still work part time, collecting trolleys in the car park of a very busy store, and am not looking forward to the next couple of months. However, no one ever hears me complain about cold or rain.

From my years in Scotland, the East coast never gets really hot anyway without the mitigating breezes (or howling gales) off the North Sea!

Try telling somebody who may not see another Summer that you hate it.

Some of us are really uncomfortable in hot temperatures and there's not much we can do about it. If it's cold it's easy enough to put on more clothes and turn up the heating.
It's surprising that some areas are so cold right now. Disappointing for sun lovers in those places. I'd swap happily.

I much prefer summer and autumn to winter. My health conditions always become much worse in winter.
The pain in my joints is unbearable in cold weather.

In saying that, I don't like extremely hot weather, but living in an often rainy and chilly, Glasgow, its not very likely. 😁

We are not experiencing sub Saharan temperatures, tropical monsoons, hurricanes, drought or Biblical floods.
It’s only weather, and May I remind you it’s only a week since we all complained about the cold north easterly winds
I am sorry you feel so poorly OP, I think you should see your doctor but let’s not wish our Summer, such as it is, away.

And just as many suffer in the cold weather which we get three quarters or MORE of the year Staceyann you probably have to hide for a month we have 10/11 months of depression

No wonder we are such a miserable country
I LOVE summer I feel alive, I love the warmth on my bones, I love the bright light nights I love the feeling of well being you get from the lightness the brightness and it lasts a few weeks then it’s gone for at least 10 months
Here in the east we have had no warm weather yet this season it’s still depressingly cold and I mean cold

Summer please come to us so we can smile again and I can go to my beautiful beach without a hat and scarf on

The trouble is that for many people hot, even warm, weather is a nightmare - I get bad headaches and itchy skin when it’s warm, and I lack energy. Find it hard to sleep at night. Very prone to being bitten by bugs in the garden, etc. so not great, especially as I love my garden. My mother had skin cancer, so I’m very aware of that too. I love looking at sunny views from a shady spot!

I can honestly say our winter is still ongoing, the heating has kicked on again this morning so it's obviously still cold outside , the north wind has been bitter and constant, the days grey, drizzling and cold.
My wellbeing is really being affected now, its so depressing and disappointing, we are almost at midsummer's day.

I think that the light levels in the summer months have a positive mental health effect, and would not be without them. Most people get a sense of greater wellbeing in the summer.

Myself? I love the summer. I adjust my behaviour if it is hot and spend the afternoons snoozing under an umbrella. I get up much earlier and do what jobs are needed before 9am if it is going to be. Very hot. And once the temperature hits above what is comfortable I retreat to the north side of the house and relax. Lots of water/ home made lemonade etc and a good book.

Hate winter, love summer, but these days, not too hot.

I love the summer I feel so much better physically and mentally and my ball goes forever on the golf course!

I’m with you MissChateline,I could have written your post, just substitute Barbados for Mumbai. When the plane door opens and I feel the heat and think of the snow and freezing weather I’ve left behind in Canada,it’s just the best.

Love the Summer, light evenings, sitting in the garden till it gets dark, I wear an eye mask to bed it really stops me waking at silly o’clock. Less clothes nice light dresses, flip flops, shorts, salads, open windows, walking in the sunshine I enjoy it all.

By l live summer. Long days and the freedom of not having to bundle up n clothes.

Please let us enjoy a few weeks of decent weather. We really don’t have that many days that are unbearable.

Our summer so far has been just the job for me. Bursts of sunshine but not too hot. I haven't looked forward to summer I was dreading we'd have a repeat of last year, relentless heat. Here in London we had 40° one day last year....horrendous. I insisted on buying an air conditioning unit to be ready for a repeat performance.
Fingers crossed we have a 'normal ' British summer.

I am south of London and still waiting for summer, wore 3 layers of winter clothes as usual this morning and heating on last night; most nights covered by blankets and electric blanket on every night.
It’s been the same for over a week )but seems a lot longer.).

Hello twin, where is our rain I ask.

I can sleep better when the morning light comes. I hate the dark long cold winter nights. I dont need dark to sleep and you don't has a good night the dark seems to last forever.

When its really hot yes I sympathise with people who have to work or have conditions but it just relaxes me. It's like a holiday at home. Going out you see kids and younger people having a good time. All good. Bare arms. loose dress, and the breeze on them. (Dont mind what it looks like)
