I know we've not had a lot of nice weather but I just feel completely drained. I've no energy at all , I just want to sleep. Anyone else the same

Given that most of our weather is cold, grey, wet and windy the few days of sunshine we get is most welcome.
To eat outside is a rare treat as even during hot periods it’s mostly chilly once the sun goes in the evening. We have eaten lunch out twice so far this year. Dinner hardly ever. It’s been a long wait for summer.
We have only had 3 sunny days so far and I love it. If it’s too hot I sit on the shade to enjoy the garden. Any jobs are done early late in the day.
This time last week I was in winter clothes That awful NE wind would not stop and I didn’t think summer would ever begin.
It cheers most people up, gets them out and won’t last long, so I plan to enjoy these all too few sunny days.

Why socks?

biglouis Sun 11-Jun-23 22:53:03

I think I was probably intended to be a naturist. I find walking around with no clothes on in this hot weather very liberating.

If Im not expecting anyone I open the kitchen door and wear only socks and flipflops as I am now. I have a locked gate on my drive so no one is getting in that way unless they fancy scaling the fence. I can talk to any unexpected callers via the ring doorbell.

Unfortunately I have a Fedex pickup tomorrow so I will have to wear one of my kaftans. I dont want to scare the poor lad.

MadeInYorkshire I like to see the sun but being hot and sweaty is awful

This is about the most depressing thread I ve ever seen We get about a months worth of warm weather a year if we are lucky and people use such emotive language as ‘hate’ ‘worst nightmare’ ‘horrendous’
No wonder we are such a miserable country
I LOVE summer I feel alive, I love the warmth on my bones, I love the bright light nights I love the feeling of well being you get from the lightness the brightness and it lasts a few weeks then it’s gone for at least 10 months
Here in the east we have had no warm weather yet this season it’s still depressingly cold and I mean cold

Summer please come to us so we can smile again and I can go to my beautiful beach without a hat and scarf on

There are reasons why some people HATE it - I for one suffer from hyperhidrosis so when it's warm, I suffer and look horrific. I also take meds that affect me when it's sunny and hot. A friend of mine has Sarcoidosis, so cannot be in the sun.

However, it's not the sun I loathe, but the heat, I love cool sunny spring and autumn days, just not the summer ....

Callistemon21 Sat 10-Jun-23 23:44:18

Ditto your post Lumiere

Although I did a bit of light gardening this morning and it was far too humid, I had to give in and admire the garden instead 😀

Lumiere Sat 10-Jun-23 20:44:36

I feel so much better in summertime.
Love sitting in our garden and watching the plants change and grow every day.
I so appreciate the longer and days.
We have a parasol to retreat to when the sun gets too warm, which it was today and we enjoyed eating outside.
We have had beautiful weather here in the NW recently and we're enjoying every second of it.
It's a long old winter

Reverse seasonal affective disorder makes summer difficult- especially the long days , bright evenings and mornings . It’s a very real thing

Mirren Sat 10-Jun-23 18:25:06

I'm loving this summer now it is actually sunny. My beloved garden is lush and exuberant.....and we've just got the keys for an allotment.
I'm as excited as a child at Christmas.

Missiseff Sat 10-Jun-23 18:08:20

No! I love it!

silverlining48 Sat 10-Jun-23 16:44:24

I have the same Fudgemonkey hands, feet but also my nose is always cold, I keep wondering why.
Not now though summer in the south started yesterday fir us. smile

Kryptonite Sat 10-Jun-23 15:46:08

Hot weather only arrived here yesterday. It's the flies I hate. Where do they all come from? A load of little flies hovering constantly above the kitchen floor. 😡

Fudgemonkey Sat 10-Jun-23 14:40:27

I always have very cold hands and feet sadly, it's only with weather like now that I feel warm. I'm very jealous of people who have warm feet. So no complaints from me.

karmalady Sat 10-Jun-23 14:12:15

My favourite season is autumn, bedding down and hibernating ahead. Today I had a very big load of logs which I have stashed. Sweep coming next week and just the boiler to get serviced

Until then it is a matter of keeping the garden and insects happy. My rowan tree liked the steady trickle of water, I think it is saved. Right now I am awaiting a good thunderstorm and it is warm out but turned nicely dull. 23 out,I can cope with that and the north easterly has gone, comfortable to sit out. yesterday was not nice, 27 and very breezy

cavailerlorraine Sat 10-Jun-23 10:45:01

I used to love the hot weather when I was younger but now find it too hot 😔

TerriBull Sat 10-Jun-23 10:12:15

Summer has been a long time coming this year after all those particularly cold, grey and wet days of early and not so early Spring, so I'm just happy it's finally arrived. Hot today but not unbearably so. Everything is going great guns in our garden, I'm not very well up on flowers, but the fruits of my husband's labours are very evident right now. Sunshine lifts the spirits imo and I love outdoor living, especially early morning and evening sun, it's all too brief, I'm making the most of it. sunshine

Whitewavemark2 Sat 10-Jun-23 09:35:17

So all you summer haters, I highly recommend you stay indoor s today! Promises to be hot and humid I think.

Me? I shall do a little light gardening and then make some home made lemonade before retreating under my garden umbrella with “Hester” - and light snoozing.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 10-Jun-23 09:30:24

You’re not alone Witzend. I love the different seasons but don’t get on well with very hot weather.

Witzend Sat 10-Jun-23 09:11:19

I hope I’m not the only one who enjoys all the seasons, though I will make a partial exception for the recent winter - it seemed so very long and cold - was it ever going to warm up again?

Aveline Sat 10-Jun-23 09:07:55

sodapop 👍

sodapop Sat 10-Jun-23 08:40:49
