Morning all from what already looks like a beautiful day in West Oxfordshire. I had been thinking about driving over to an Arts Weekend in a nearby village. OH doesn’t want to come. However, we have to buy a tree (acer) today and some other things for the garden. At least we had a bout of torrential rain last night. Our gardener came the other day and did some more planting. We are having a whole trout for dinner. One of OH’s shooting and fishing friends gave it to him. I think I’ll simply stuff it with fresh herbs and bake it. Pudding can be a choice of my home-made ice cream. If it’s very hot today, which I think it might be, I’ll simply sit in a dark corner. Oh well. Have a good day.

Good morning from an overcast NE where it is 14 degrees.
Sister and BIL visited yesterday. As they were leaving DS and family arrived, having been at an open air concert at GD2's school. GD sang a song from Hamilton and DS made a video which he transferred to my computer. Both GDs and DIL got sunburnt despite having sunscreen on so I had to go looking for a relief spray, just as well Grandma covers every eventuality.
A quiet day for me, hope to finish my book after my sister has been on the phone, I told her I wasn't free to meet up in the next few days so needs must.
Have a good day.

Good morning. Looks set fora other sunny day herein N. Bucks.
Will get out to water the pots before they get too much sun.
We have ‘Open Gardens’ today so we will have a wander around and admire. There is also a Motorama of classic cars at te Market place. Not my cup of tea but I expect DH will enjoy a quick browse.
Good luck for tomorrow Mick.
A good day wished for all.

Good morning all from an already sunny North Leicestershire.

Not a lot happening here today!

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset

Dreadful night so Mrs Grumpy here, not the heat, just not sleeping. We were out for a good bit of the day yesterday so plenty of fresh air, sea front and then some food shopping. No rain to speak of, a few spots and that was it.

Laundry and admin type things for me today. Mr C will try to find the car under the dust covering. Hope elder son can call to collect my my surplus to requirements Kenwood Chef along with its (far too) many attachments. Some worktop has been liberated as a smaller machine has taken its place. Our baking mad granddaughter will make far better use of the Kenwood

No handy independent shops here, some a bus or car ride away, it would be wonderful to have them in walking distance.

Good luck for tomorrow mick, you’ll soon be home recovering.

Safe travels to all on the move, happy holidays to those away and special thoughts to the poorlies. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's not sunny here but may warm up later. I'm being picked up and driven to Perth's Scone Palace today for the Pottery festival. I shall take a picnic and a sunhat..
I shall water my garden first with my trusty watering can.

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow *Mick" . Enjoy the heat those who like it and find ways to avoid it, those who don't.

Good morning, I don`t think we had any rain in s somerset last night. Temperature is better just now and I have opened windows and outside doors, inside is too warm

A leisurely day today, I stacked all the logs yesterday and the mound on my drive was enormous. It feels good to have them under cover, another tick towards winter preps. Ok, I am capricorn and methodical, I know that, it is my nature

While still standing upright, I dragged my karcher out and gave my car a good clean. I love using the car foam, very satisfying. The car was covered in dust and too many blobs of corrosive bird muck.

So this morning will be a nice shop in waitrose, a 30 mile round trip with lovely scenery. I feel as though I need a few nice things and a couple of treats to bring home. Then after lunch, nothing apart from knitting and reading. I took a paracetamol last night as work aches were just starting, they have gone now but I am not jumping about wanting to go on a cycle ride

I was bored once GM and took out some fat quarters and made myself some nice cotton handkerchiefs, the cotton softened nicely after washing. Hand hemming would perhaps be an ok substitute until that motor turns up. I now have a lovely pile of cotton hankies

Have a lovely day

oops thanks for your kind suggestion. My problem is that my garden is terraced so i have 4 terraces to go up before I get to the greenhouse and potting shed terrace!

Living on the South Downs has its ups and downs😀😀

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and wet. Such a welcome change after no rain for so long. Mick good luck for tomorrow. Ash you'll miss him. Safe journey to your dh. Baubles enjoy your Sunday. Brunch sounds lovely. RoseandLilac I'm very fond of key lime pie. I'll bring a spoon!
Yesterday I still didn't feel great, however I got on with the housework and shopping. By night time, I realised my throat was much less painful and I had a better night's sleep. Still coughing but not til the early morning.
Today I might clean the windows and glass and wash floors. It'll be chicken and salad for dinner with raspberries and ice cream for after. Have a good day all.

Good morning all and it’s going to be another hot one.
Yesterday was pleasant with a little breeze.

Our neighbour came round to help us order materials for our new patio area. Dh took all the old decking up and neighbour is going to redo it for us. Not decking! He’s such a nice chap and so helpful. He’ll do it when we are in Suffolk so easier for all of us.

Watched the ladies final of the tennis in Paris all afternoon. It’s been wonderful this week and the standard has been amazing. The men’s final is today. We’ll have Dd and little gd here so probably won’t see much of it. ☺️.

We still have our butchers and greengrocers close by here. A lovely little parade of shops including chemist, DIY , mini market and another ‘sell everything’ shop plus a small tesco a little further on . The only thing we’re missing is a nice bakery.
It’s nice to give them our custom.

Good luck for tomorrow Mick.

Hope you all find something to smile about today.🌸

Good morning from muggy Cotswolds, no rain here, it often passes by us here on the top of a hil ☹️
Yesterday I did the usual housework and all the washing dried then flopped because I really don’t like hot weather anymore.
Today an early dog walk, cold roast chicken, new potatoes and salad for lunch and I will make a key lime pie I think.
Tomorrow I am meeting a friend who’s taking me to a new art class in a nearby barn, that should be fun!
I hope you all have a peaceful day.

Good morning from an uncertain looking morning with some cloud in Torbay.

Safe travels, hollysteers and I hope your door lock is soon fixed, Oopsadaisy1.

I agree, monk08, regarding small businesses. Prices in such shops may be higher but the quality of the produce makes it worthwhile. For an occasional change, would travelling by bus with a taxi home be worth considering to get you to a different supermarket sometimes, grandMattie?

All the best for tomorrow, Mick. Take it easy today.

Yesterday morning, we had rain here and at my holiday home. DH braved it to clean out the gutters and remove the vertigre and it looks so much better. Inevitably, within minutes of him completing the task the rain eased!

Later we had an easy journey home despite a diversion from the A380 at Haldon Hill due to an accident involving one car. For those who know that stretch, there are some treacherous bends on a steep incline.

Church first thing then a day of catching up here with a walk over the Downs later. Brunch after church sounds very civilised, baubles! DH returns to his home in France tomorrow after more than two months together.

Every blessing today. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 11-Jun-23 06:29:21

WWM2 I bought a small lightweight sack trolley so that I could move things around when MrOops was out at work, you can shuffle the bags onto it (I have a wheelbarrow but can’t lift things up to get them in).

It’s been very useful around the house and garden, especially with moving large plant pots around.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 11-Jun-23 06:22:35

Good morning from sunny South Downs - at 17c already pretty warm. All windows open all night.

mick just think this time next week all wIll be behind you and you will be on the road to recovery - good to think about isn’t it?

Must give the fridge a good clean and tidy out, and the oven a once over today. I also have a ton of ironing to do which needs doing while it is relatively cool.
I also have to struggle with some bird seed and suet pellets and take them to the greenhouse. I order industrial quantities because they eat industrial quantities and it’s cheaper, but then I have to get it to the greenhouse. DH can’t help - back. I think I’m going to have to order smaller more often.

Well enjoy your day everyone - relax in the heat.

Fish pie with green beans, Broad beans and peas for dinner. Might have enough strawberries to pick to have with fat free yogurt.

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 11-Jun-23 06:21:30

ill, why does it keep changing it?

hollysteers Sun 11-Jun-23 06:21:08

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
Thunderstorms last night and heavy rain, to the garden’s relief.
I’m off to north Wales for the day, so just about to make up a flask of coffee etc. The cat is staring me out waiting to be fed.
You’ll feel better when you can get back to sewing grandMattie and I hope a day of fluids isn’t too onerous Mick.
Hope you all have the best day you can and thoughts to all with troubles.

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 11-Jun-23 06:20:56

Good morning Mick wishing you the best for tomorrow.

Another sunny day in Cyprus, the key has snapped off inside the lock of our front door, for now we can exit through the back, climb over the (low) wall and get to the car, not ideal to say the least, but doable.
I imagine someone will come out tomorrow to fix it. But we have a full fridge, and a pool so staying at ‘home’ isn’t a problem.

Have a good day everyone, thoughts are with those who are I’ll or stressed

monk08 Sun 11-Jun-23 06:19:28

Good morning all from a warm Black country. Rain yesterday evening so no early watering of the garden needed.
Early start today DH has a fishing contest.
No plans for myself as yet will perhaps get the bus and take a ride out somewhere, I'm lucky have a good choice of buses and places I can go to.
grandMattie I wish we had local greengrocers and butchers all ours have disappeared to be replaced by supermarkets.
Will catch up later with everybody's happenings.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

baubles Sun 11-Jun-23 06:05:07

Good morning all, we’ve had overnight rain after a very humid evening.

Wishing you well for your surgery tomorrow Mick.

Today DH will meet me after Mass to have brunch in our favourite cafe. My plans for the afternoon involve nothing more than a seat in the garden with my book.

Have the best day possible everyone.

grandMattie Sun 11-Jun-23 05:48:04

Good morning from Bristol. There is a thin cloud covering the sky.
I had a quiet day yesterday, after my foray to Waitrose. Before you comment how posh I am, it’s the only biggish supermarket within walking distance from here. There is a small coop, a Tesco metro, but no grocery…. Loverly greengrocer, ditto bakery and butcher.
Very few people turned up for the church coffee morning. I wonder why. That was the sum of the day’s events for me.
Today, church and chat afterwards. Again, nothing else. I wish I could find the motor for my sewing machine, then I could do something, rather than just sit and read or watch TV. It’s too hot to go outside, especially as there is no umbrella. I don’t do sunbathing, never have.
May today bring comfort to those who need it and peace to all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️

Susan56 Sun 11-Jun-23 05:41:27
