A couple of hours ago, after two very hot days.,
Bliss sitting indoors with windows open, listening to the rain coming down in tropical sheets.
And now I won’t need to water some recently acquired plants. 🙂

Thunder has been rumbling around for a couple of
of hours in this part of Cheshire and gradually getting louder, but no rain yet and still horribly close and humid.

Well my water butt is now full, proper storm with a downpour.

I do love a really good thunderstorm, especially if there is also spectacular lightning. We don't get them very often around here though.

Here in north Nottinghamshire the sky has gone from blue to cloudy and now dove grey over the last couple hours.
My allotment really could do with a downpour, but I don’t think it’s going to.

*Aldom*, a dd in Oxford said they had ‘loads’ of ‘lovely tropical’ rain yesterday afternoon.

That's right, my family said the same on Sunday in Oxford. We also had heavy rain Sunday, but not as heavy as Saturday's torrential rain.

Just had lovely cool thunder and 1.5 inches rain. simply lovely.
Hope grass will stop turning yellow..

Thunder and lightening in Rutland just after 3pm today and torrential rain for about 15 minutes. Thunder rumbled around and then we had the most torrential rain again for about 20 minutes. So heavy it didn’t catch the gutters, just cascaded off the roof. A little fresher now and the hard surfaces have drained and dried. Poor shrubs and plants have been battered. Our dog who never used to worry about storms was like a bowl of jelly earlier! Felt sorry for the refuse collectors as they got soaked in a very short time when emptying our bins this afternoon.

Had one yesterday afternoon and one at lunchtime today, both with rain! Good job our Ddog is no longer with us, she was petrified in storms, we always thought that it was due to her being dumped on the street in Aberdeen during Hogmanay.

I usually do but that was quite frightening!

My head has just started to ache again so perhaps we're in for another one.

In my part of S.Wales plenty if noisy rumbling and grumbling, with some really loud claps of thunder. Some flashes of lightening but NO rain!! Could do with a good downpour!

HannahLoisLuke Tue 13-Jun-23 11:59:59

Very fierce noisy storm on Sunday evening but only lasted about an hour. Still gave the garden a much needed drink though. Quieter but much longer one last night, started about 4.30 and continued until around 10.30
Looking out this morning I think it rained overnight too. Perfect!
I’m in Warwickshire.

Massive storm here tea time yesterday (Nottm ) the new houses being built over the road couldn't cope with the lack of drainage!! Worst storm I've seen in years

Lupatria Tue 13-Jun-23 12:01:29

promised thunderstorms here in south dorset didn't arrive. we had a short rain shower early yesterday morning but nothing else.
poor plants in pots are depending on me and the hose pipe for survival.

I waited with baited breath yesterday. The birds went very quiet…… the rose petals just dripped and I sat in a puddle of sweat. At 7pm I couldn’t stand it any longer - I went to turn the hosepipe on. I watered and then I stripped off and did a nakid rain dance.

Nothing in East Herts... never even had a cloudy day, much less a much needed rainfall... the humidity is ho
rrible tho'..

A whole day of pounding rain here yesterday in Toronto Canada…..great for the lawns but hope it hasn’t knocked the life out of my vegetable seedlings recently planted on my allotment! I’ll take a drive there today and check them out. But driving yesterday was a little nerve racking…..I had a 50k journey to tackle on the highway to get to a fund raiser for a local hospice. Besides driving through the constant heavy rain with the windscreen wipers working away, the visibility was poor as it was foggy too! But I made it there and back safely because I took it slowly - as did many other drivers. And this morning the sun is shining - and summer returned!

No thunder here , I get thunder headache but none , so I think we have missed it

Diggingdoris Tue 13-Jun-23 14:06:28

Thunderstorms frighten me since my mum's house was struck many years ago, but as we've not had any rain here in Essex for weeks, I would be grateful for one. 4 1/2 of my 5 water butts are empty and badly need a refill!

Davida1968 Tue 13-Jun-23 14:06:43

Yay! Some hours after I posted yesterday afternoon, bemoaning no storms/rain, we had a doozy! Over half an hour of torrential rain, thunder, lightning & hail. Then just rain, eventually fading away. Wonderful! Yet a friend living ten miles north of us, has had no rain at all..

Milest0ne Tue 13-Jun-23 14:15:14

Just enough rain here to wash the dust off the car. We need some rain as the overflow from our spring is dwindling to a trickle. Hope the spring continues to produce water for the house. It hasn't failed in the 40 years we have been here. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Bazza Tue 13-Jun-23 14:31:01

We had a disappointing amount of rain after much thunder, could have done better! I remembered a girl I was at school with who was terrified of thunderstorms and apparently she was walking with her friend to a birthday party and lightning struck the friend’s zip and she was killed. Strange the things you remember

pascal30 Tue 13-Jun-23 14:50:51

sadly no rain in Brighton.. still hot and humid

Bluesmum Tue 13-Jun-23 14:56:15

Nothing here in Lincolnshire but it’s lovely to see and feel the hot sunshine after a very grey and chilly time last week xx

Kryptonite Tue 13-Jun-23 15:35:40

After a boiling day, we had the lot, except hail. One clap of thunder was like a bomb blast! Spectacular.

grandtanteJE65 Tue 13-Jun-23 16:01:33

No thunder here, nor any forecasted.

This suits me fine, as I hate thunderstorms and love this warm dry weather. Hope it lasts all summer.
