A couple of hours ago, after two very hot days.,
Bliss sitting indoors with windows open, listening to the rain coming down in tropical sheets.
And now I won’t need to water some recently acquired plants. 🙂

PoppyFlower

Half a dozen far off claps of thunder and half an hour of light rain. That's our lot in North Derbyshire!

Well you are very close to my S Yorks/Derbyshire border place and..nothing!

Wyllow3 Sun 11-Jun-23 22:32:59

Please send thunderstorm and heavy rain.
To S Yorks where I've had to water the garden for a large chunk of the evening to stop my garden dying!

Mind you, a lovely evening, peach coloured cloudy sky, the whole garden changed colours.

We were driving back from a NT property in Hampshire at around 4pm, and the sky turned very black. Just as we turned on to our drive, a number of fat raindrops fell on the windscreen.
I dashed indoors to get the washing in, but the rain came to nothing!

Probably some lucky gardens a few miles away had a good soaking though!

DS, who lives 200 miles away rang us this afternoon to ask about the storm we were having.

He then sent me the link that enabled him to tell that we were having a storm in Oxfordshire when he was in Yorkshire
www.lightningmaps.org/#m=oss;t=3;s=0;o=0;b=;ts=0;z=10;y=51.4797;x=-0.94;d=2;dl=2;dc=0;

Activity showing on the map is much reduced from this afternoon. Such activity as there is, is in a rectangle bound by Stafford, Nantwich, Whitchurch and Newport.

Other clusters are in southern Switzerland/northern Italy and along the Atlantic coasts of Spain and France between Bordeaux and Bilbao.

Still waiting here in Yorkshire. We heard some rumbles of thunder in the distance but apparently now no rain forecast until possibly tomorrow-and even then not much.I think I will go and dance in it when we finally get it !

Deedaa Sun 11-Jun-23 21:11:40

I had very heavy rain for about 15 mins and one possible flash of lightning, My daughter who lives 10 mins. away had lots of thunder and lightning and no rain at all!

AreWeThereYet Sun 11-Jun-23 21:08:26

Little bit of thunder and some black skies but no rain yet in NW Surrey. Showing more for tomorrow but not holding my breath.

fiorentina51 Sun 11-Jun-23 21:07:42

Had a really big one in my bit of Worcestershire yesterday, resulting in a scary flash flood at my sons property. Just had another thunderstorm with fantastic cloud formations.
Sky now very dark. Maybe another session about to start?

LadyGracie Sun 11-Jun-23 21:00:42

No rain in South Wales yet.

Georgesgran Sun 11-Jun-23 20:58:46

My weather app said a 60% chance of rain between 8 and 9pm. Two minutes to go and not a drop.

RosesandLilac Sun 11-Jun-23 20:37:13

A brief shower late morning here in south Gloucestershire just bumped up the humidity 🥵
The weather splits each side of the hills we’re on, you can watch it happen 🙄

Shirleyw Sun 11-Jun-23 20:35:23

Nothing here yet in Bedfordshire, the sky looks like it won’t be long…….hopefully we have a good storm….fill up my water butts…

Grandma70s Sun 11-Jun-23 20:30:17

Here in the north west we had thunderstorms yesterday evening. My son in the south (near Windsor) had a storm today with huge hailstones like ice cubes making a lot of noise as they hit the windows. He sent me a video.

Callistemon21 Sun 11-Jun-23 20:19:53

Rain on and off all day but no thunder as predicted.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 11-Jun-23 20:16:54

We had about 3 minutes of the odd drip. It dried as it landed. Fat lot of good that did.

Jaxjacky Sun 11-Jun-23 19:04:42

We had just over an hour of steady rain in S Hants, no storm, but very welcome, just the greenhouse to sort.

M0nica Sun 11-Jun-23 18:46:18

Our thunder storm has just ended although the sky is still dark enough for it to be more like it should be at 9.00pm this time of year.

It was a real cracker of a storm. It lasted over an hour and the rain means I will not have to water the garden for a week!

TerriBull Sun 11-Jun-23 18:43:33

Three hot days and a thunderstorm! so said Charles II, allegedly! well we've had more than three days, but it looks as if it may storm later. We've been having lovely evening sun for over a week. Right now a lot of cloud cover on the Surrey/Sussex borders and a bit of humidity.

Jaberwok Sun 11-Jun-23 18:17:16

Not much here in Wiltshire A small shower before lunch, then sunshine. Now cloudy, so maybe some more rain this evening.

karmalady Sun 11-Jun-23 18:13:27

nothing, zilch. I live in a very ancient little town with its own microclimate and I am about to do a rain dance. I had capacity for 650 litres in tall water butts and am hanging onto the last quarter for my precious blueberries

If it does not rain over night, I will have to do some reluctant sprinkling, to save my youngest trees, Their roots are not big enough to survive yet. I see the advancing rain radar and the big number of lightening strikes but they are travelling up the uk spine and any little bit of blue is dividing left and right of the ridge my town in on

Plus I hate the humidity

Casdon Sun 11-Jun-23 18:06:25

We’ve had a torrential downpour in Powys this afternoon, about half an inch in an hour - it’s the first rain where I am since 8th May, so it was sorely needed. I’m hoping we’ll get some more tonight,

Georgesgran Sun 11-Jun-23 18:02:04

Nothing in the NE for quite a while. My water butt’s empty and I’d like some rain water for the blueberry bushes (please).

Grandmabatty Sun 11-Jun-23 17:39:56

No thunder here in central Scotland yet. 😕I love a good storm

tanith Sun 11-Jun-23 17:28:54

We had one an hour ago lots of rumbling thunder but very little rain.
