Good morning from Bristol, for Mick, in abstentia, who, I hope, is improving daily.
It is grey and we are promised a shower very soon, already 17C. Not holding my breath for rain. The lawns are brown and some plants are already starting to die of thirst…
Very busy yesterday and today with a church “clothes exchange”. I helped put the mostly women’s clothes on rails and order them in size and type. I’ve never been to anything like that, so have no idea how it’ll go. DS and DGDs are selling raffle tickets for us. I’m going to be sewing (on DD’s borrowed machine) mostly totes from old pillowcases, tablecloths, shirts, etc., to show reuse of fabrics. Because the hall is very popular, we have very little time to set anything up. Or down too.
Not really time for anything else.
Thank you everyone who gave me links to machine parts. I have ordered a pedal and cable from the Scottish company to be delivered today or Monday. Excellent service and extremely friendly an£ helpful person at the telephone.
Have a contented weekend one and all. 🪷🌹🌺 to the poorlies. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Taichinan sorry I’ve just seen your message to me from yesterday.
Thankyou,

it was sobering to be told via WhatsApp that they will all have to manage without us one day, so they are trying to cope without us now.

We will be home on Wednesday so will pick up from then.

Aldom Sat 17-Jun-23 10:53:35

Urms lovely to see your message. You are very much in my thoughts. I am hoping for the best for your husband.
Mick you are much in my thoughts too. Hoping for the best outcome for you. flowers flowers

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 17-Jun-23 10:45:57

Good to hear from you Urms our thoughts are with you both.

monk08 Sat 17-Jun-23 10:40:03

Urms so lovely to see you posting you are never far from my thoughts 💐👋.

Urmstongran Sat 17-Jun-23 10:35:11

Good morning everyone. I just want to say thank you so much for keeping us close in your thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to me right now. Our situation is very challenging and I’m not strong enough emotionally to post anything these days. I know you will all understand. You are very kind.

Also I’d like to wish Mick the best recovery possible from his operation earlier this week.

x

Exercise in the HEAT🙄

hollysteers Sat 17-Jun-23 10:24:01

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers! Cat came in this morning WET and it feels cooler.
Hair coloured, trimmed and ‘blown out’ as they say in NYC, but it’s so fine now it doesn’t last…hard to believe how thick it used to be.
Felt I hadn’t had enough exercise in the best yesterday so put my headphones on last night and danced round the sitting room to my favourite pop tunes. That’s my main exercise these days apart from walking and I was spurred on I’m afraid by several enormous women in the salon.
Coming to the end of my 870 page beloved book, will miss it but plenty more around the house. Art yesterday, but very dissatisfied with my stylised tree in pastel, might work at it here.

Two girlfriends are on a cruise in the med, I was invited but it’s two weeks which is too long for me and maybe sightseeing in this heat would have been tiring.
Hope Mick is making good progress and thoughts to Oops Urms and Gingster

Taichinan don’t apologise for your lovely post. You have painted a beautiful word picture.

Blossoming Sat 17-Jun-23 10:08:09

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire. It’s 20°C and feeling close, there’s a thunderstorm warning so perhaps we’ll get some rain. Hope you’re doing ok Mick and we hear from you soon.

No real plans for today, just pottering and my usual physio exercises.

Safe journey to any travellers and healing thoughts to any poorlies.

Happy Saturday all 🌻🌻🌻

Taichinan Sat 17-Jun-23 09:50:28

Oh dear I do apologise for the length of the above!

Taichinan Sat 17-Jun-23 09:49:45

Good morning all. It's a bit cooler, hazier and breezier on the Angus coast today - but still a glorious day. Rain isn't forecast here until Monday, and then it's on and off all week - but then the forecasts lately haven't been particularly accurate, so we'll see.
I had a lovely outing yesterday. I love the way my hair's been cut - and I bought a new chair! Having spent the last couple of weeks or so predominantly sitting, I had to come to the conclusion that really my chairs were not very comfortable! And as in future years more time will inevitably be spent in a reclining position something had to be done. Delivery is on Monday! And I'm childishly excited!
When I was sitting in the garden last week I thought I could hear a skylark, which I haven't heard for years. It was much louder than I remembered, and the sparrows were kicking up a fuss at the same time, so I just thought I'd been mistaken. Then late yesterday afternoon a friend had just popped in with her husband, a Ranger at the nature reserve, when I thought I heard it again. It is confirmed! There is a lark nearby! I also mentioned that there used to be yellowhammers, whereupon HeWhoKnowsTheseThings, and who was sporting the most impressive binoculars, said that he thought he had just spotted one in the bushes at the bottom of the field. My day was made.
Mick I hope your recovery from your operation is progressing well - I think you said you hoped to be home yesterday. We're all thinking of you.
Thinking too of all going through a hard time, in whatever way, just now.
Lovely photos Ash. Particularly of the little grey squirrel. We still have the 🐿️ variety, although the greys are creeping northwards.
Well, Lovely Gardener and one of his petrol driven machines are busy in the garden (I think it has become time to strim away the dying daffodils and reclaim the lawn grassed area in the side garden) so off I must go to at least look a little busy while he labours 😉. Actually I must watch Trooping of the Colour with memories of when DS1 was in it many years ago (the year Boris Becker won Wimbledon!)
Please enjoy your day everyone and even if it's hard do try to find at least one moment of quiet joy x

Auntieflo Sat 17-Jun-23 09:46:00

Good morning GrandMattie, Mick, (if you are reading), and Annie.
It is so much cooler here this morning, I actually pulled the sheet up over me in bed in the early hours.
So let's hope the soldiers on parade for Trooping if the Colour will be able to be more comfortable without the searing heat.

After all the faffing about over my new garden bench, we have had a refund, so that will pay for a cushion!
Yesterday after so many phone calls arranging hospital calls and appointments, another text letter arrived, overriding one of these.😳 I think I know what I am supposed to be doing now

Marydoll, sorry to hear that you are still struggling with your breathing, but hope you manage to shorten your DH's trousers. I remember the many times that I have had to do that, as well as taking in the waistbands.

Thoughts to Mr and Mrs Oops, Ginster's daughter, and the Urms and all with worries.

Have a good day one and all.

aggie Sat 17-Jun-23 09:42:34

Good Morning from a lovely damp cool Co Armagh, I think we had rain overnight, but I slept and don’t hear anything after I take my hearing aids out,
Nothing planned for today , I’ll read the rest of the posts and bite my tongue today

harrigran Sat 17-Jun-23 09:27:23

Good morning from an already very warm NE.
Yesterday was spent in and out of the garden, too warm to sit for any length of time.
My sister and BIL are visiting this afternoon, he is going to plant my geraniums in the patio pots. We will have a glass of Champagne after and put the world to rights.
DS and GDs are coming this afternoon and will be here until late this evening. Dinner will be a simple meal of scampi, chips and salad so that I spend the minimum time in the kitchen.
Last week, only minutes after they left, there was an incident down the road, later found out a young woman had been sexually assaulted. For several days there was police tape around the bus shelter and lamp posts.
Hope Mick is recovering well.
Have a good weekend.

Wyllow3 Sat 17-Jun-23 09:20:54

Good Morning from an overclouded S Yorks, tho some sun promised. Rain due tomorrow.

Yesterday was busy so glad there are no must do's today, so its probably the gym later and maybe catch up on some clothes repairs.

Bests for poorlies and family poorlies, and may holidays and outings go well.

luluaugust Sat 17-Jun-23 09:17:43

Good morning from an overcast W Kent. Busy today as DB and American friend arrive for a couple of days. We haven't had anybody staying other than family since lockdown so hoping all goes well. Tomorrow we have a family get together. Rather mixed day yesterday as I won the smallest sort of Premium Bond prize, had a good time at the U3A group, the lady who usually runs it wasn't there and as newcomers we couldn't help noticing that everyone was much more chatty.
DD has some problems with a neighbour and DH had to help her sort that out.
Hope we hear from Mick soon and best wishes to all

Grammaretto Sat 17-Jun-23 09:08:54

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Much cooler today which is a shame as I'm hosting a garden party this afternoon. Just had a text asking if I have 5 large tablecloths! people are panicking
Yesterday I had a nice playful visit from the littlest DGC while their DP were packing to spend the weekend by the sea in a motorhome.
Thinking of Mick, the Urms and Oops and wishing you all well.

dustyangel Sat 17-Jun-23 09:07:55

Good morning everyone from the Algarve where it is already a sunny 26°. It’s supposed to get back up to 33° again later but hopefully the temperatures might go down again after that.

DH has already gone down to the market with the ‘boys’ , I will catch up with them all later and hopefully DH and I will go out to lunch.

I do hope Mick is doing alright and can be back with us all soon.

Stilllearning Sat 17-Jun-23 09:03:15

Good morning from a muggy South Lanarkshire, but at least I’m feeling like myself again. DD4 is coming this afternoon to clean her car in my driveway. Her DH goes off with a friend every year to cycle part of the Tour de France route, this time to somewhere in the Alps. DD has decided to take their dog and go and stay in a shepherds hut/bothy in Harris! It may be wonderful, Harris is certainly beautiful, but she will be off grid and I will be glad to see her home. I am keeping these thoughts to myself.

I will continue to potter for a couple of days yet, I am learning to content myself! I have my book club on Monday morning so I will settle to the book which I haven’t managed to do yet.

Thoughts of course with Mick and all others needing support. Beat wishes to everyone for a good day

EkwaNimitee Sat 17-Jun-23 09:00:00

Good morning everyone from a rather cloudy and sultry Carlisle.
Yesterday afternoon I popped into town as an M&S delivery had arrived earlier than quoted. It was 27C of blazing sun but lots of folk seemed to be happily strolling about hatless and sunglass-less. Not me, hatted and sunglassed and trying to skulk along in the shade though little of that. I collected my item and did a few other errands including having some new photos of DH printed. It's so easy these days...off my computer onto a flash drive, into the photo shop where he sticks it into his computer and hey presto, photos printed out in less than 5 minutes! It was a lot less effort and considerably cheaper than doing it myself...which I used to do.
Home to do very little except to get the hose out on the garden and give everything a good soaking.
Today, I'm about to pop out for the papers and to visit the garden centre for my 'free' coffee and I might look at the new stock....
I seem to remember Mick might be home today? I hope he's doing well and will be. Can't beat being home.

Have a pleasant day all and best wishes to all of you poorly folk, haven't forgotten you MrandMrsUrms.

Good morning from a hazy Essex by the sea. No rain here for the last few days.
Not much on the agenda for this weekend but I'm sure DH's girls will want to see him at some stage tomorrow.
I hope Mick is recovering well and will be back with us soon.
Enjoy the weekend everyone xxx
