Good morning from Bristol, for Mick, in abstentia, who, I hope, is improving daily.
It is grey and we are promised a shower very soon, already 17C. Not holding my breath for rain. The lawns are brown and some plants are already starting to die of thirst…
Very busy yesterday and today with a church “clothes exchange”. I helped put the mostly women’s clothes on rails and order them in size and type. I’ve never been to anything like that, so have no idea how it’ll go. DS and DGDs are selling raffle tickets for us. I’m going to be sewing (on DD’s borrowed machine) mostly totes from old pillowcases, tablecloths, shirts, etc., to show reuse of fabrics. Because the hall is very popular, we have very little time to set anything up. Or down too.
Not really time for anything else.
Thank you everyone who gave me links to machine parts. I have ordered a pedal and cable from the Scottish company to be delivered today or Monday. Excellent service and extremely friendly an£ helpful person at the telephone.
Have a contented weekend one and all. 🪷🌹🌺 to the poorlies. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Colchester where there's hazy sunshine. Rain forecast at noon just in time for the King's birthday flypast.
I have more holiday laundry to tackle but otherwise a quiet day.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning from sunny Suffolk with no promise of rain here until at least Wednesday. Having been a gentle gardener this year,ie letting the weeds have their own space in the borders they have provided cover for the bushes and plants which are doing well. So less evening watering needed which is just as well as the pots take ages to do.

But not complaining….I love the brightness and colour of everything.

Not much planned for the weekend apart from a trip to meet DS and family’s 12 week old puppy who they collected yesterday. Great excitement in their household yesterday evening and lots of photos and a video call to share her place in the family with us. Not sure how their cat will take to her but should be ok as when our dog has stayed with them in the past, both have reached a calm accommodation. But a 7 year old dog a bit different from a 12 week old puppy!

Hoping Mickis home and recovering well and anyone else with worries finds some comfort today.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and grey Northampton, a shower forecast for later this morning, and then sunshine.

Was awoken at some ungodly hour by one of the cats trying to catch my toes under the duvet! Dozed off again, but woke at 6ish and decided.while it was cool to ready a spare bedroom for younger DGD, who is staying over tonight. Her mum and sister are off to London, probably for a show, and DS is on night shift.
She will do some baking this afternoon, and as I have a fancy for home-made scones, that's what is on the menu!
Her favourite M&S Posh Dog sausages for dinner tonight, followed by strawberries and ice-cream.
And then we may watch a film. I see that Night in the Museum is on TV.

While I was preparing the bedrooms I thought I would see if I had suitable swimwear for my Iceland cruise (having not worn any for years!) - I have booked an excursion to the Blue Lagoon. I found a coup!e of tankinis that I bought for a Caribbean about 15 years ago, tried them on, and by some.miracle can still get into them! That's one expense spared.

Hope that Mick is getting on ok, and wish him a speedy recovery.

Hope we all have a lovely weekend.

Good Morning everyone from an overcast Severnside where it has been raining.

I think I should do something today. Apart from a very early trip to Lidl yesterday morning for a top up shop I did nothing all day (except eat). I’ve a few things to do outside if the rain clears away and there is always a craft thing to do. The car needs a clean, it’s filthy from target practicing birds.

My brother is visiting Montreal for the Grand Prix so I hope they have a lovely time.

Have a good day all and hope that Mick is recovering 🦩💐

Grandmachrisy47 Sat 17-Jun-23 07:59:38

Hope mick is ok. Thought are with the Urms and those with worries.

Another hot day in store here in Co Durham, although rain and thunderstorms are forecast for tomorrow.

Another nothing day for me today. I must get a life.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Jun-23 07:56:38

Cornergran that's a nuisance for Mr. C.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 17-Jun-23 07:54:34

Morning all

Oopsadaisy we must have been very close in Paphos, our hotel was near the one that has fireworks on Fridays.

We need to pop to the butcher down the road and the little Turkish grocers for some goodies

I hope Mick is on the mend.

A shame your DD will miss the afternoon tea.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Morning grandmattie, morning All from a wonderfully damp corner of Somerset.

Home late yesterday evening to find Mr C is on the surgery postponement merry go round. A lot to unpick and rearrange to accommodate the new date. No point fretting. It could go on for months yet, certainly not just us it’s happening to. Hard to see Mr C be increasingly unwell though.

Quiet one ahead today. Laundry - oh heck doesn’t look as if it can dry outside - every silver cloud has a dark lining I fear! Lunch out I think, not back in cooking mode yet. Otherwise not a lot other than try to plan something positive for the week ahead.

Been wondering when mick will be with us again, hope he’s comfortable. Good to hear of you being involved with local activities grandmattie. I’m sure your help will be appreciated. Thoughts go to all with worries of any kind. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Good morning from Midlands, much cooler this morning, getting all my chores done and then sit down catch up on all my phone calls have my weekly chocolate and newspaper puzzle time.
Do hope your cousin is ok Monk08, that sounds very worrying.

monk08 Sat 17-Jun-23 07:35:42

Good morning all from a muggy Black country with no sign of rain.
Our friend came out of hospital yesterday evening so we shall go and visit her later.
We had a phone call yesterday from DH cousins wife to say he'd fell in the garden, is now in hospital has no feeling in his hands and legs very worrying.
Well the washing has just finished and full English calling so will read through everyone's news later.
Enjoy your day whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️

Another past experience

Good morning from a dull Sefton. Grey skies coming my way & rain is forecast. 🤞It is needed.
A semi successful trip to our nearest retail park & garden centre yesterday. A potter round our local shops this morning - we have a clutch of upcoming family birthdays very soon.
Best wishes to Mick who is hopefully home & recovering from his procedure. Thoughts with those of you with worries & struggles. Take care all.

Good morning from a very bright start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. I had such fun at the bingo yesterday I won two small amounts of money,

unfortunately at night my left foot was rather swollen and I took ages to drop off

Have a good day everyone keep putting the cream on this sunshine’s rather strong at the moment.🥵🥵🥵

Greyduster Sat 17-Jun-23 07:19:40

Good morning, Mattie and all GNs. Mick if you’re looking in I hope you’re well on the road to recovery.
High light cloud in South Yorkshire today and we have some rain promised this weekend so I hope that will go some way to refilling my water butt. I cut the no man’s land of grass and weeds behind my garden wall and was mowing in clouds of dust, it was so dry and crispy. It doesn’t actually belong to me but if I don’t cut it, no-one else will and it will be left to look dreadful. Trouble is it’s a devil of a job to get a cable up the garden and over the wall. Some light housework today and then over to DDs later as we are going out for dinner this evening.
Have a good day, folks, whatever you’re doing.

Marydoll Sat 17-Jun-23 07:18:29

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 16°C. Thank you GM for opening up, I have done it on many occasions in the past, but could never manage it so early now!
I hope Mick is doing well and home, but the last time he was in hospital , it was much longer than expected and we were all so worried.

We had only three drops of rain last night, but lots of thunder. I texted DD yesterday to tell her and also had a slight moan about her dad and the selection of chinos, I had brought home for him to try on. I was reading GN on my phone and to my horror, posted my message on the Harry and Megan thread! 😱

A gentle day, apart from taking up the legs on DH's new trousers, a job I loathe. His leg size is inbetween regular sizes and he can never get trousers to fit him. I was able to do so little yesterday, I'm still struggling for breath, it's quite frightening at times, there is no respite. Fingers crossed the air clears

Tonight, we have a family meal in the hotel, where DD was meant to have her wedding, which was cancelled the day before Lockdown. Dollie, will be there, but Babydoll won't be coming, her aunties have all been arguing about who is looking after her.
We have abandoned our principles about never using the establishment again, after the way they treated DD, but we all have unused gift vouchers from various sources and it would be a dreadful waste of money not to use them.

Safe journey to Gwen, and Oops, I hope you can enjoy, what's left of your holiday. 💐
I haven't noticed Susan posting, I hope she is ok.
Its great to hear of all the busyness, enjoy your day.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Jun-23 07:14:55

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° with high cloud. No sign of rain here. GrandMattie I hope the clothes exchange is successful. And likewise for your church event Ash.
Yesterday's school and nursery picnic was very successful and hot! Fortunately we sat with another family who had the foresight to bring a gazebo. All the children had a ball, running around. Dgs1 was in his element. I needed a lie down when I got home though.
Today I'll go to Aldi for food and do some housework. Salad for dinner with leftover pork pie from the picnic. Have a good day all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 17-Jun-23 07:05:15

Morning all from West Oxfordshire where it is apparently drizzling! OH is off to visit his bees this morning. I will be picking our daughter up and looking forward to son and his family arriving this afternoon. I had to put my duvet on last night as it became cool. I hope Mick is recovering and that all of you who are suffering in various ways can have some respite this weekend.

Gingster Sat 17-Jun-23 07:04:31

Good morning all.
It sounds like a lot if you have had rain overnight. No sign of it here in Essex.
I’m glad at the moment as I have lots of washing to dry for Dd and Dh and I are getting through it all. Washed and dried in a few hours.

Today I have a ‘RitzStyle’ afternoon tea in aid of cancer research. It’s always done beautifully with delicious food, waitresses and a pianist. Lots of raffle prizes and a short talk from a CR bod. I got Dd a ticket but she isn’t well enough to come. 😢.

I hope we hear from Mick soon . 🤞.
Glad you got your sewing machine ‘bits’ GM. You seem to be making a good life for yourself there. 👍.
Mizuna I love sea shanties. How lovely to hear the fisherman singing whilst you sit in your garden.

Wishing you all a lovely day. 🌸

Jaxjacky Sat 17-Jun-23 06:55:48

Morning from S Hants, it’s cloudy, first morning for a while it’s not been bright sun, still dry though.
Good luck today gMattie may the swop be successful. Thinking of Mick’ may his recovery be gentle.
No plans apart from the newspaper today, taking it easy after a tiring week for us both.
Still have Urms and her family in my thoughts.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve a bit of light grey cloud but another lovely warm day is forecast.
Hope things have settled down a bit at home Oops, take care, also hope mick is doing ok
I’m awake early as yesterday was busy and I had a very early night! I’m going to potter in the garden today and do some housework at some time. I don’t think we’ve got any rain forecast yet so I’ll have to go round with the watering can again, I could use the hosepipe but I don’t want the garden soaked just some newish plants well watered!
Lovely pictures Ash, thanks for sharing
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

fancythat Sat 17-Jun-23 06:40:50

Good morning from down South.
Looks like we might have had some rain overnight?
Grass is getting pretty brown around here.

We have an "event" in a couple of weeks time. Need to start dotting i's and crossing t's.

Ashcombe Sat 17-Jun-23 06:39:37

Good morning from a rather soggy Torbay! Overnight rain has left puddles on the road which is an unfamiliar sight! I hope it stays dry as it’s our church Summer Fair today on the park opposite my home and I’m helping.

Yesterday I enjoyed an early walk which took me through Tessier Gardens which looked beautiful. A haven of tranquility much frequented by lovers of nature, including our furry and feathered friends!

Last night I enjoyed a social night at our theatre which took the form of a race night. My horse won the first race but that was it! Never mind - I was 20 pence up on the night!

The clothes swap sounds intriguing, grandMattie!
Thoughts with Mick and hope we'll hear from him soon.

I hope others have the rain soon to help gardeners and farmers. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 17-Jun-23 06:19:55

Good morning from a windy but sunny Cyprus.

I hope that Mick is at home and recuperating, good to hear about your sewing machine parts, you will really feel like you are at home again when they arrive, I know how accomplished you are with sewing especially your beautiful quilts.

A late night last night , the hotel down on the beach (a good way away from us) had its entertainment evening, I would think that most of Paphos could hear it, then 5 minutes of fireworks, just in case you had managed to nod off.
It sounds as though the weather has broken at home, so maybe my pots will survive, MissOops has been down with her sister, maybe Nephew has popped around? We will see.

Have a good day everyone, hope all who are ill get some respite with the cool weather, hugs and 💐

GrannySomerset Sat 17-Jun-23 06:19:11

It looks as though we have had a light shower and the sky is grey so I shall go back to bed and see if a snooze is possible. Hope Mick is making progress, that gMattie’s clothes swap is a success and that everything planned for today works out well.
