How do you organise your wardrobe?

Left hand side. Gardening clothes. . Trousers , knitwear, shirts, dresses , jackets ( all seasonal) Precious knitwear is in a large,lidded , moth proof box. Special clothes such as wraps, swim wear, ball gowns etc ( cruise stuff) in a large suitcase. Coats etc and shoes in a large coat cupboard downstairs.
All have their own place and I always use wooden hangers .

Don't do seasonal. Too much like hard work. Simply adjust the number of layers depending on what I see through the window. Right now a nudist colony has appeal!

I don’t! All very random.

We have 2 big fitted wardrobes, one in the childrens old room which holds the out of season clothes, and one in our bedroom which has the clothes that we are currently wearing. More or less. I keep coats and dresses to the left, in the middle shirts, skirts and trousers and on the right short jackets. But the spare room also has a small wardrobe which is too overstuffed with things we don't wear but don't want to throw away. I enjoy faffing around, tidying and re-arranging it all .

Things like scarves and belts are hung on an old tie rack. I also have a smaller one that I hang chains and necklaces on that hangs on a hook at the back of the wardrobe.

Half the wardrobe is full length hanging for dresses/long skirts/ coats/suits/etc., drawers down the middle, other half split for shirts/blouses/t shirts.

Either Summer or Winter clothes in suitcase depending on season - heavier trousers and jumpers have just been packed away and lightweight tops, skirts and dresses hung up. Likewise Winter shoes/boots in a box under the bed and sandals now on shoe rack in wardrobe.

Wow, interesting how different we all are. Someone upthread said they had 5 double wardrobes full - that’s a small shop! Someone else said ‘like with like’. I tend to do that - pair a tunic and a cardigan that goes with it on the same hanger, sometimes even with jewellery that ‘goes’. I mostly wear tunics (Fatface, White Stuff, Made in Italy) or tops with jeans. Jeans, knitwear, some tops, underwear, etc in a big old chest of drawers.

Covid was a gamechanger as so fewer clothes needed when at home most of time/no meetings etc.

In a decluttering craze, I bought a mobile clothes hanger and emptied out a walk in wardrobe. A chance for a good clean but every item had to be decided on if it was to go back.

At the moment things are grouped in colours. A set of drawers has socks etc and lighter tops/teeshirts. Shoes are a bother as so many, few fancy but comfortable ones are hard to part with. I have a couple of those soft shoe storage hanging things and keep small bags, scarfs etc there.

There is also a wooden towel rail and the end of a brass bed that seems to accumulate items!

I have too many trousers, tops, cardies etc etc but nothing to wear!!! Nothing looks right these days!! All my clothes look better on the hangers than on me!!

Summer clothes on the right for me and winter on the left. Change over later in the year. I have had a good sort out this year and recycled a lot of clothes, space in the wardrobe now for once.

My blouses altogether and in colour the sleeveless ones then short then long sleeved . Pedal pushers next and then my skinny jeans then formal trousers and wide legged, dresses and skirts in second wardrobe, coats jackets in the next, with scarves loads of them on scarf holders shoes and boots at bottom

my wardrobe is simple, find a hanger and hang it up, all tops are the kind that does not need to be ironed, only wear dressy jogging trousers, (legs always bandaged) have one skirt for funerals with a couple of black cardigans, no winter clothing as i do not feel the cold, always have a pac-a-mac as i never wear jackets, have about 8 in various colours. and.....i hate shopping..lol

I have a large wardrobe that has sliding doors with tops and blouses on the right, jeans and trousers in the middle and skirts on left, a large built in cupboard on the landing with dresses on the left and coats, jackets and cardigans on the right and a large chest of drawers for everything else ie jumpers, leggings night ware and underwear etc, shoes and boots live in the bottom of the large wardrobe

Well I must be OCD, I have all my winter tops hanging in one wardrobe, summer tops in another.; Jackets hang on the top rail in another with trousers underneath. a different wardrobe has long coats on the left and shelves on the right for pyjamas, towels etc.
underwear and socks are in the drawers in one of the cupboards. Everything has a place, I keep black and white underwear and socks separately from each other. It works for me. I have far too much clothes but like it all so whenever I tried to get rid it all ends up in the wardrobe again. I have 5 double and one single wardrobe, but I do keep towels, and some bedding in them as well. I live on my own and have inherited all this space. I is lovely however. I can't imagine managing without a wardrobe.

I realised last week that I hadn't opened by wardrobe sine February...I think I need a clear out, so many 'special' clothes but live from a chest of drawers and a laundry basket

The trouble is we all have far too many clothes. Cut down on possessions, cut down on organisation. Simple! We are aiming for a zero waste world aren't we?

Haha I do that too SecondhandRose. Anything not worn or moved along, in theory goes to Charity.

I have a section for long sleeved tops; then short sleeved tops; then dresses, skirts, trousers; all organised by colour. OCD? Don't know, don't care, but I like it that way.

Organise wardrobe; I don’t understand the concept

I put items away to one end so I can see what isnt being worn as it moves along.

Ditto, there is the bottom piece too where jumpers rarely used are put.

Indeed, easy as easy.

Left to right I do light to heavy fabrics by category, so T-shirts, other tops, then shirts, then cardigans, then sweatshirts, then trousers, then jeans, then jackets. Dresses and best clothes are at the right end because they need long hanging space, and I’ve got footwear on the floor on shoe racks apart from the right end. My coats are in a separate cupboard, I’ve got lots so they need a wardrobe of their own.
This thread is really interesting, I’d never thought about it before - I guess we all do what seems most logical to us.
