Dumped PPE

I’m so surprised that this has not made tv news. The unusable PPE was such a big story during the pandemic. Millions wasted.

NanaDana Tue 20-Jun-23 08:37:19

Isn't this just yet another horrendous example of the widespread fly-tipping that is so common now? Don't see that the fact that it happens to be PPE has any real significance, nor am I convinced by the odd attempt here to lay the responsibility at the door of "the Government". I'm no supporter , but don't feel the need to blame them for all of society's failings.

Exactly Bazza.
It's not like an old mattress pushed out of a van is it.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 20-Jun-23 08:34:17

Fly tippers don’t pay landowners - they tip and run.

Bazza Tue 20-Jun-23 08:25:03

Follow the money. Someone somebody some organisation
Have been paid to put that amount of equipment there.
Find the drivers of the trucks find the owners of the land they would have to been paid

Possible Casdon, but not the fault of the government. The NHS and local authorities aren’t the government.

I agree, but I never said or implied it was anything to do with the government did I? They didn’t hold PPE stocks in their keeping to the best of my knowledge.

Relatively local to us. It’s being investigated by Hampshire County Council (is it theirs?) and The Environment Agency.

PPE is used by private organisations such as privately run care homes. It’s not necessarily anything to do with the government - don’t jump to conclusions!

I’d be very surprised if it’s a care home, they wouldn’t carry anywhere near that level of stock. It’s quite possible the NHS or a Council paid for it to be removed from stores, and it was fly tipped by a contractor though.

shock shock shock

Someone must have known what was going on, you can’t dispose of all that without using heavy plant and making a racket. No doubt someone connected will come along and say, a la Father Ted, that it’s just ā€˜resting’ there. angry

At the very least, the Government should ensure all unused PPE be safely incinerated.

Fleurpepper Sun 18-Jun-23 20:23:25

Well if you read the above post... a big Tory Donor, so close links.

Nothing surprises me anymore with this government in charge

Do you have proof that the government is involved in the dumping of this PPE? Or are you just looking for an opportunity for a cheap potshot?

Fleurpepper Sun 18-Jun-23 20:08:41

a Tory donor Steven Parkin who gave £700,000 to the Conservatives "won" a multi-million pound contract through his company Clipper Logistics to 'dispose' of substandard PPE bought from other Tory donors.... guess where it is now?
a large amount of substandard PPE has been found FLYTIPPED!
where is the rest? Is anyone checking to make sure it's disposed of safely? Or is this the new normal to just give millions and billions of £££s of Government contracts to Tory mates with absolutely zero accountability?

(from my friend Jason Hunter)

A lot of the PPE produced in the UK, by cronies without a clue, didn't meet the required standard!

It wasn’t produced in the UK to a great degree because we didn’t have either the raw materials or the expertise, it was mostly imported, particularly from China. I was there at the receiving end in the NHS.

Part of business buys and sells PPE, a scant percentage is produced in the U.K.

When the pandemic was emerging in China, they put up their prices, and only exported sub-standard products.

We had a healthy stock but limited it to our regular customers and opted out of the profiteering market.

I’d guess it’s imported PPE that didn’t meet the required standard, dumped by the UK importer. I would imagine it will be traceable, so somebody will be in trouble.

Pi**ed off at how and where it has been dumped.

Out of date PPE, is no use in any medical facility.

Photos here - as not on the other thread.

Just unbelievable.
