Good morning from a sunny Bristol.
A beautiful morning for the 2023 summer solstice. Ihopethe worshippers had a lovely sunrise at .Stonehenge .

luluaugust Wed 21-Jun-23 17:42:34

Having finally arrived at our hotel just to say happy birthday to Sar and very sorry you had such a difficult time Marydoll.

Taichinan Wed 21-Jun-23 13:58:12

Aggie I love your reply re the caterpillar!

Taichinan Wed 21-Jun-23 13:57:39

We don't want to know how to get rid of it (or maybe the castle gardener does!). We want to know how to propagate it 😉

EkwaNimitee Wed 21-Jun-23 12:34:13

It’s a beautiful plant Taichinan, but I wouldn’t know how to get rid of it, sorry!

Grandmachrisy47 Wed 21-Jun-23 11:46:14

Morning from a bright Co Durham.
Two hour blitz on house 😀 I’m worn out now.
Thoughts as always, with Urms, Kalu and mick. Marydoll, do take it easy.

Taichinan Wed 21-Jun-23 11:33:25

grandmattie it likes peatie soil I think - but honestly it has a mind of its own! Friends have taken numerous rootlets to no avail. Yet the gardener at a castle ruins a good few miles away hates it and can't get rid of it, no matter how he tries! Maybe karma will know? Or *ekwa"? Or anyone?
Sorry about the second photo - don't know why that was picked up!

aggie Wed 21-Jun-23 11:20:46

But the caterpillars turn into lovely butterflies!

grandMattie Wed 21-Jun-23 10:57:55

Golly, Taichi, what a lovely creeper! I am very jealous.
It's a relation of the Nasturtium, and I have managed to kill at least 3, so gave up. Perhaps it doesn't like the warmth of th south.
Trouble with Nastutiums is that overnight thy get swallowed up by catrpillars...

Happy 70th Birthday Sar have a lovely day 🎂🎉🍾

Stilllearning Wed 21-Jun-23 10:16:58

Morning from S Lanarkshire and happy birthday Sar53, have a lovely day and celebration at the weekend.

Sorry to hear your latest health news Marydoll but hopefully you will be more comfortable soon. The last wee while sounded awful.

Several phone calls I have to make so I’ll just wish everyone the best day possible, as ever thoughts are going to all who need them.
I saw Urmston station too last night and sent special wishes to our friend.

Blossoming Wed 21-Jun-23 10:12:40

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. Hope your recovery is going well Mick and we hear from you soon.

MrB has done the supermarket shop so I must help him put that away. I have laundry to do. Hopefully I’ll go for a walk later.

Happy birthday Sar.

I’m glad they’re looking after you Marydoll. Hope things improve.

Thinking of Kalu, Gingster, Urms and all who are dealing with illness right now. 🌹

hulahoop Wed 21-Jun-23 09:52:10

Happy birthday Sar 🎂🍷.
Sorry to hear your news Marydoll.
What a horrible thing to happen Gingster
Thinking of all poorlies .
I cricked my back yesterday so a quiet day for me . Have a good day.

Taichinan Wed 21-Jun-23 09:49:33

Good morning all. 17°, sunshine and showers - with a warning for thunder - on the Angus coast.
So sorry to read all the not so good news on here today, particularly yours Marydoll. Do take it easy, even though that's hard for you. And thoughts going out for Babydoll.
What a shock for your DiL, gingster - so glad nobody was hurt. My DD had an accident a few weeks ago - her's caused by a young idiot jumping a red light. She was shocked but unhurt, but her car was a write-off.
Happy Birthday 🎈🎂*Sar*, you young thing you! How our perceptions of age change - at one time 70 was old, but nowadays it's the new 50 without the menopause 😉. Enjoy your family get-together at the weekend.
I loved getting back to tai chi yesterday - it was just that feeling of coming home. I didn't do the set, but did a bit of teaching and demo-ing, which felt good. Tai chi classes are definitely my 'happy place'! Tomorrow is the advanced class, which I'm looking forward to.
Today's photo from my garden is of my triumphant trapaeolum (^sp?^) which once again is climbing its way up the evergreens - I love its bright red flowers against the dark green.
Now I must away and get myself going. Have the best day you can everyone x

hollysteers Wed 21-Jun-23 09:34:37

Good morning everyone and to Mickin absentia from Sunnyside northwest coast, hope he’s ok.
Nice day yesterday, legs out (fake tan) and enjoyed singing at music club. Today to lunchtime recital and coffee with chap at the music club, my suggestion as he’s easy company and I haven’t been seeing enough people. Tonight to a folk club and will sing unaccompanied. Wearing the same shortish summer shift dress as yesterday, not many occasions in the year to flash my bare pins😁. I see bare and bear mixed up by so many people now, I start to wonder myself…
Birthday greetings Sar and special thoughts and hugs to all our morning gransnetters who are having a hard time.

Georgesgran Wed 21-Jun-23 09:31:47

gM your flooring measurer reminded me of a chap who came to reposition an indoor tv aerial. He was here hours (did a rubbish job too) and talked non stop. DH never very chatty, left me to it. Turned out he’d been in the army and served in Ireland and launched into several long stories. I couldn’t wait for him to leave and in later years, thought he was probably suffering from PTDS.

aggie Wed 21-Jun-23 09:30:11

Good Morning from a relentlessly sunny Co Armagh, but the thunder yesterday and resulting rain has filled my wee lily pond , I have two miniature lilies in bloom
Appointment with the diabetic nurse this morning , I have never been told I have diabetes, but I’ll pop in out of curiosity, and hopefully come out intact. !
Glad you were checked out Marydoll take care !
All the poorly husbands are in my thoughts , it’s a hard road

harrigran Wed 21-Jun-23 08:57:56

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Grey and rainy yesterday so just pottered around the house.
Sister sent me a photo of BIL and the plaster cast on his leg, he is going to be out of action for a while.
Happy Birthday Sar enjoy your day.
Thoughts are with poorly people and their carers.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 21-Jun-23 08:56:02

Good Morning grandMattie and everyone from Hull. The rain has been very welcome and filled our two water butts up again.

Have a very happy birthday Sar 🎉🎂

Gingster what a terrible shock for your DIL.

Marydoll thoughts and hugs to you today for your health worries and babydoll’s scan💐

Our son has just called to ask if we can have GS this afternoon. He was sick in the night at his mum’s which is so rare for him and despite not speaking much said ‘tummy poorly’
I’m sure when he comes he will be running in and out the house enjoying the sunshine.

Have a lovely day everyone. 🌞Virtual hugs to those suffering stress and family worries🌻🌻

Georgesgran Wed 21-Jun-23 08:55:46

Good morning from Durham - blue sky and sunny. A small wash in the machine. A friend is coming for coffee this morning, then I’m picking up DGS1 from After-school club and will check on DD2’s house on my way home - the DDs only live a few miles from each other. Dog walk at dusk and might see the barn owl out hunting.
I’m so sorry to read such worrying news from MaryD you must follow doctors orders!
I hope no news from Mick is ‘good’ news (as the saying goes) despite his diagnosis.
Longest Day? My goodness, isn’t time flying by?
Birthday greetings to some and commiserations to others.
Best wishes to all. X

Anniebach Wed 21-Jun-23 08:44:42

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

EkwaNimitee Wed 21-Jun-23 08:42:28

Good morning GM and everyone. The sun is battling clouds here so maybe a shower or two in due course as yesterday.
I got out in the garden after lunch for a short while, just to tidy up a bit. Last year's foxgloves have seeded everywhere you would think a plant wouldn't grow, they certainly wouldn't have if I'd deliberately sown them there. I've been hauling a lot out and replanting them. My bronze fennel and lavenders have also seeded themselves, the seedlings of the former are being got rid of though, they're such big plants eventually. I'll be out again to do more planting later on.
I also spent much tedious time sorting out car insurance quotes as my current insurer had unacceptably increased the new quote. No success as all the firms whose names I recognised had put prices up and my current company was best!

Today, ironing and a little housework plus more tedious admin.
Marydoll, I'm sorry to hear of your current troubles, a good job you had those reviews. I hope you're soon sorted and up and running again. Well, not literally! And best wishes for Babydoll.

I'm assuming Mick is still in hospital. Is that concerning? I thought they couldn't get you out soon enough these days.

Happy birthday, Sar. 70 is not old these days, it is the new 50 so enjoy the day.

I'm in two minds about today. On one hand, it's lovely to get such a long amount of daylight, on the other, I can't help being sad about the evenings pulling in from now on as I do loathe our long winters. Must keep telling myself to always look on the bright side of life!

Have a good day everyone.

grandMattie Wed 21-Jun-23 08:41:52

Oh dear, Marydoll! You will be much more in my heart and prayers for the foreseeable future.

brook2704 Wed 21-Jun-23 08:31:17

Take care marydoll and rest - even though I know you don’t want to! x

Nannagarra Wed 21-Jun-23 08:30:34

The sun’s out accompanied by a gentle breeze as I wish you all good morning from Sefton.
A morning swim followed by playing with our DGC are on the agenda. Much encouraged by granddad, DGS is learning to play cricket. Their rest intervals have been taken up with watching England play.
Robinsons have been in touch to tell us there is a shortage of ingredients, that lemon barley water will continued to be produced. Yes!
Many happy returns Sar. 🎉 Comforting thoughts are sent to those with troubles.

Sar53 Wed 21-Jun-23 08:23:18

Sorry to hear your news Marydoll. Take things easy with lots of rest. My very best wishes xx
