Putting my tin hat on here but I know someone with boy/girl twins and she encourages the boy to dress as a girl. He already has long blonde hair just like his twin sister, now he wears flowery summer dresses! They are 6 years old.
When my kids were small we had a dressing up box and recently I came across some photos of 3 boys messing about in wigs, dresses and handbags but that was just playing around. This boy goes everywhere dressed as a girl. I think the parent has to take charge and say “time to put your T shirt and shorts on, we are going shopping.”
I wonder what this person you know Primrose would make of my daughter and her boy/girl twins? They have been exposed to the same experiences, encouraged in fact to do everything, no differences between them, but one is very firmly in the girl camp, the other in the boy camp.
Girl: loves pink and sparkly, ballet, gymnastics, swimming, make up (to play with) earrings, jewellery, making jewellery, drawing and painting, reading
Boy: loves football, loves football, loves football, loves Manchester City and Harry Kane, tennis, cricket, did I say football, running, did I mention football?
They both like other things too, having been offered a huge variety of experiences, but these things have emerged as firm favourites.
Neither of them identify as a cat. But they have three cats, a dog, and three rabbits.
