40 0dd years ago my godaughter was a cat for a few months ,her mother who was a trained childcare professional just let her be.She gave up being a cat and became a vegetarian and now 52 she's still a vegetarian .She does cook chicken for her cat though...

Putting my tin hat on here but I know someone with boy/girl twins and she encourages the boy to dress as a girl. He already has long blonde hair just like his twin sister, now he wears flowery summer dresses! They are 6 years old.

When my kids were small we had a dressing up box and recently I came across some photos of 3 boys messing about in wigs, dresses and handbags but that was just playing around. This boy goes everywhere dressed as a girl. I think the parent has to take charge and say “time to put your T shirt and shorts on, we are going shopping.”

Remember “Please Sir?” I can imaging an episode of total mayhem where they would all have pretended to be different animals just to disrupt the lesson.

Feel sorry for my grandchildren who will have to navigate and work through all this nonsense.

My granddaughter has a group of ‘animals’ at her school, I don’t think anyone takes much notice, they all think it’s stupid.

Think I said once, that I wanted to come back as a pampered Cat, humm??

This sounds to me like another ‘playground craze’ that like all the others will eventually pass. I’m sure many children are annoying the diversion as the end of term nears. Having said that, it is a worry when more mentally vulnerable children get swept up in it.

If a child genuinely feels they are a cat or anything that isn’t human then they should be in an education unit where their needs will be met.

They can all do what they want as far as I’m concerned but I don’t think we should be educating them.
I’ve never heard of a cat or a horse (other animals are available) needing a certificate for anything other than one of soundness.
Sorry I’m wrong… my dog needed proof she was vaccinated when she went into kennels.🤦🏼‍♀️

btw, we have to allow for a possibility that some children are vulnerable/being picked on and in need of some protection against bullies hence teacher response.
But the elements that get picked on for the shock horror pearl clutching reports van never give a full picture.

I couldn’t believe it when my 14 year old DGD told us this is happening in her class, not only cats either! However are these children ever going to face life in the real world. I shall be getting off the bus with you Poppyred.

But the ridiculous thing in this latest shambles is that it was a teacher who disciplined the kid who called it out.

Nothing new really, though. With autism in the family, kids are often 'being' frogs or cats etc. - but only temporarily, and knowing full well that it's only pretending. As for 'identifying as', well that is a new concept.

I suspect all the children were doing it to wind up the adults, to be frank.

Some children have been told that they can be anything they want to be, possibly by parents who failed to fulfil their aspirations.

They seem to have taken this mantra literally.
