Yes i once went to David Cassidy's come back concert on my own-i had booked it for just myself- i say on my own- it was with a coach tour group organised by local paper- but i did not know anyone else on it- concert was absolutely great- afterwards coach took us to our overnight stay hotel- one of the Hilton hotels- also great even had a spa- but the icing on the cake was that i got chatting to 2 other ladies who went together,in the foyer just over a drink, and who should walk in was David C himself!- (we should have known really as it was the best hotel in town!) They didnt dare go speak to him (as he sat with whom i presume was his manager & maybe his wife?)But i did- being a huge fan when i a kid- he was ever so lovely and did'nt mind- i told him i had my eldest daughter same day as his birthday too and he was really chatty about it- He did not even mind when we shook hands i stole a little peck too! The two other ladies were gob- smacked!- but i was really glad i had- and gone on the concert trip even though i went alone.Best trip ever.

No but my DH has been to see a few Bruce Springstein concerts on his own and with family I don't go because of the crowds.
I did smile when I saw his preparations for the one on his own. The venue was in a rough part of a city, he took my old car and I saw him putting something long and heavy into the passenger footwell. I might add he is not an aggressive man. Afterwards, he said getting back to the car was worse than all the crowds and he had had prior warning of muggings as you got in your vehicle.smile

I definitely would! It doesn't bother me doing most things on my own.

I do it all the time - this evening I am going on my own to hear Barbara Dixon - can't wait. That is after I have spent the afternoon being a wandering minstrel in a Medieval Fayre - we know how to live out here in the middle of nowhere!

Yes, often. Not all my friends share my eclectic taste in music, and I’ve made some great friends through following certain bands. ! I also go to the cinema on my own during the day as I’ve got a cinema unlimited card.

BlueBelle Sat 24-Jun-23 11:31:12

Jdotj there are some advantages too aren’t there
I often go to the cinema or show on my own and don’t feel unusual

Modompodom Sat 24-Jun-23 11:30:11

Over the years I have been to many concerts on my own. I am now in my 70's and I would still go to concerts on my own.

Not a concert alone but this week in fact I went on my own to see 42nd St at Sadlers Wells. Brilliant, wouldn't hesitate to go alone again. In fact there were quite a few 'singles' dotted around.

I went to see Culture Club on my own back in the day. Had a great time.

I have never had any qualms about doing things on my own. I am not a pop fan, but I have been to concerts of classical music on my own abd one year had a season ticket for the proms.

In the past i always preferred to shop alone, but over the last decade or so have started shopping with DD and DGD, togther or singly and we have had lots of fun. I still wouldn't willing shop with anyone else.

I actually prefer company but I would most certainly have missed out on many pleasures and relationships had I not ventured ahead on my own. Go for it and enjoy. I would. Good luck.

You get used to doing things alone and there are a lot of advantages. And, often, you will get into conversation with people around you.

Froglady Fri 23-Jun-23 08:59:06

Go for it! Just treat it as a break away from home. And if you find it's all right, it's opened up a whole new world for you. And you can book other things to go to.
I always go on my own to concerts, holidays, etc, etc. And I always enjoy it.

Years ago I was let down by a friend I did a gig more than a concert. If you get talking to anyone make out you are meeting up with someone later. In case you feel a little vulnerable it’s what I did but you might be fine.

BlueBelle Fri 23-Jun-23 08:56:18

Another thing I don’t know if I munusual in this but I hate shopping with someone much prefer to be alone either I m bored with what they want to look at or I m worried they’re bored with my shops and I rush to please them
However I love company and don’t consider myself a loner

NotAGran55 Fri 23-Jun-23 08:54:53

Like minded not like kind

NotAGran55 Fri 23-Jun-23 08:54:09

I’ve been going on my own since I was almost 15 and had hoped to find my friends in Hyde Park at a King Crimson gig.
How naive was I!

Been many times over the years, always happier to be alone than with someone who tags along just to make up the numbers holding you back. There’s always like kind people to chat to.

BlueBelle Fri 23-Jun-23 08:54:09

Oh yes do go it’s disappointing to not have friends with you but don’t let that cloud it I do lots of things on my own including days out, holiday, cinema etc if friends aren’t available and you usually find someone to chat to
My friend made a lifelong friend when she went on a coach trip alone

Mizuna Fri 23-Jun-23 08:42:59

Ages ago I saw Bob Dylan at a massive venue. My husband can't stand him so I went on my own. I'd do the same today. I was so busy being ecstatic grin that I didn't even notice the hoards around me or whether there was anyone else on their own. Go, and enjoy!

silverlining48 Fri 23-Jun-23 08:38:19

That’s disappointing but yes, why not, especially if you want to see the concert.
Go and enjoy yourself.

Has anyone been to a pop concert on their own.
Last year booked tickets for a concert with my daughter, for this weekend ,but she is unable to go.
Asked 2 or 3 friends but they genuinely have other plans.
Train, hotel, tickets, been booked for a while.
I'm going to brave it , and go by myself , just wondered if anyone has done this ?
