Why should drag queens read to children VioletSky ?

VioletSky Sun 25-Jun-23 19:26:55

Did no one ever take their children to a Panto?

Agree Sparklefizz I have difficulty understanding why this is happening as well.
In fact I'm finding it hard to understand all round what our children and young people are having to cope with nowadays.

Why shouldn't drag queens read to children?

No one is forced to attend

I agree Sparklefizz.

I was most impressed with this when I saw him on TV and the children loved him.

Good question Sparklefizz and I agree about inclusivity.

We recently had a family wedding with uncle x and uncle y. Their 4 year old child was very involved, as were all the children in our extended family. The child’s birth mother who is a long term close friend of daddy was there, along with her extended family. That’s positive inclusivity in action so far as I’m concerned.

I liked Paul O’Brady as Lily Savage and enjoyed Barry Humphrey’s Edna Everage and other persona’s. I confess to feeling less enthusiastic about drag queen’s being prioritised in schools and libraries. What’s the context?

Ridiculous and I don’t understand the thinking behind it because drag queens are nothing to do with gender identity

Because I expect that drag queens are part of this very aggressive Inclusivity, Diversity and Equality movement that seems to be indoctrinating Britain at the moment.
They make me feel uncomfortable.

Neither do most of us Sparklefiz, I think I know why but I were to say anything that you are not permitted to, which is a most things now, you would be jumped on.,

Why are drag queens being booked to read to children in libraries, schools etc? What is the point? I genuinely don't understand.

If it's to be more inclusive, surely it would be better to ask little people like Ellie Simmonds, people who are deaf, etc ... ie. people who have a "condition" rather than people who just like to dress up?
