Lemsip, do you remember PRINTMISS. She always did it on the Good Morning thread.
GD did you come across my snippers, secateurs or the ball of string?
Should we pay kids to go to school?
Good Morning Everyone,

Today sees the start on the Tour De France in Bilbao , I will watch the whole race on Eurosport later today .

Good morning all from a damp and overcast North Leicestershire.
Not a lot on today. DH is off to the gym and then we will nip over to the pub which has just been taken over. We have high hopes of somewhere else serving good food in the village.
Have the best day possible everyone.
good morning everyone. a bit damp here but sun trying to come through.
does anyone else do the 'pinch punch first day of the month ' anymore or is it only my family
Morning Mick, morning All from a brightening corner of Somerset. Still windy, yesterday looked like Winter with strong winds buffeting the trees I and grey skies, the rain was welcomed by the garden.
Reeling a bit from yesterdays news. Mr C’s cousin died on Thursday morning, her struggling heart could cope no longer. Yesterday she would have had the surgery Mr C is waiting for. Her poor family are in shock. Last evening we heard our daughter in laws aortic aneurism now needs intervention, it’s getting to the dangerous point. The last attempt failed. She can’t be seen for three weeks. We’re hoping for rapid intervention then
On to happier things. Mr C has lodged a request to go out today. Suspect breakfast/brunch and perhaps head for Cheddar, should be a good day.
I’d be looking in the washing machine, freezer and laundry basket for that mug greyd
. Hope it appears soon. Snow juliee? We’re you expecting that? Sounds a good day ahead.
Not a good beginning grandmattie, you must be exhausted, as the song says things can only get better. Worth asking for a change of room? Recovery takes a while mick, hard to be patient for sure.
Missed your knee post mizuna. A very positive experience of tkr here. It’s made a huge difference. Love the cake grandmab. How kind of your daughter.
Best get on, a definite request for breakfast - at a venue an hour away. Oh heck. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning . It seems that the sun will be shining today in Brixham.
Yesterday was dull and drizzly but we made our own sunshine with lots of laughter. We still enjoyed our visit to Bigbury on sea and went on the Sea Tractor over to Burgh Island.
Today we are having a quiet day around camp.
Wishing quick recovery for all under par . Safe and happy holidays to those who are away and a pleasant weekend for all.
Grandmabatty 😊
Your friend is a lucky lass!
Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk which seems like most of the country. We are awaiting a Sky engineer, any time between 8am-1pm so not much happening here yet.
Apart from one of us walking the dog it will be a quiet morning spent reading the papers. I managed some tidying up of the border along the side of the house and plan to continue with one of the flowerbeds. It’s pleasing to see that hidden small buds of peonies and roses now have, hopefully,a chance to flourish.
Thinking of those with worries and sadness at present. As I typed that, slowly as ever, the sun burst through the clouds.
GM sorry to hear about your long delays and the ‘not very good’ hotel. BUT I do love that you tell it how it is. No glossing over things! So many people tell you how wonderful their lives are, I can’t quite believe it all! But you are a genuine , honest lady and we know when things are good or bad. Thanks for your truth.
Anyway please enjoy the rest of your holiday with your son. 🙏.
Grammaretto it wasn't my birthday, it was one of my friends! But thank you anyway. And thank you Gingster. Dd makes beautiful cakes. It's a family tradition going back to my gran who was a cook/baker in a big house in Glasgow in 1920s. She passed on many recipes that are still in the family
Pinch and a punch for the first of the month!
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It feels chilly today.
Solidly raining yesterday but dry now.
I'm glad your birthday was lovely grandmabatty many happy returns of the day! A fabulous cake.
Enjoy the Tour de France Mick
Are the doctors able to advise you about when you are likely to be ready to leave the house?
Sorry your first impression of Orkney was disappointing gMattie try the tourist office . I'm sure there are day trips or wander to St Magnus cathedral and the museum. you can tell I'm a big fan
I shall be indoors most of today on a zoom conference.
The local theatre performance was well supported last night. It was ok but a bit long.
Have a nice weekend everyone.
Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, 16° outside, and rather windy. Planning on cutting the grass later this morning.
Very pleased with my baked chicken tikka last night; made a marinade with yogurt, spices, curry paste and mango chutney. Baked three pieces of marinated chicken, ate one last night with pilaf and Bombay potatoes, and the other two will go in the freezer to have cold at a future date. Have also frozen two pieces of raw marinated chicken to bake at a future date.
Must cook a small gammon today - I love home-cooked ham, shop bought doesn't come near! That will do for a few sandwiches and ham egg and chips at some future date.
Going out for a meal with family tonight to celebrate younger DGD's 13th birthday - she has chosen a Jamaican restaurant, so I am looking forward to jerk chicken. Had goat curry last time.
Apart from that will spend any spare time reading the Saturday papers and my book.
Have a pleasant Saturday everyone.
Good morning all from a grey drizzly Suffolk seaside.
DS2 and family arrived at 10 last night and after tea and toast the girls and DIL went to bed. We stayed up with DS and chatted til midnight. Lovely.
Not sure what they will want to do today. A swim in the sea is always on the cards, a walk along the beach with little pooch - we will see. Everyone still asleep. I retired to the spare bed downstairs at 3 . Dh was fidgety and hot.
Ash my Dh has a vintage car which he keeps up here, as the traffic is a lot lighter. It’s the same age as me! Poor old thing.
He is thinking of selling it ! 😢.
He’s had it 28 years. We had a similar one in our teens but exchanged it the day before we got married , for a more sensible saloon. He always regretted it, so he searched for another and bought this one on our Silver Wedding anniversary .
Take it steady Mick early days.
What a beautiful cake GB, and what a talented Dh you have. 😇.
Glad you’re feeling better oops . Best wishes to your dh. 🤧.
Marydoll hope you have a good day 🙏.
Love to you all 🌸
Good morning from Siberia.
Mick, you are wise to stay at home and take it easy!
Today I went to the gym and after cleaning my flat, I went to clean my language school. Today is the 405th birthday of the town, so there are a lot of celebrations all week! Lovely to see all the carnival atmosphere. I am meeting a friend for tea later. And another friend has asked me to join her in town for the celebrations. Busy busy!
Ps It snowed a bit this morning. But now it is hot! Such is the climate here))
Have a great day everyone!
Morning, 16 in S Hants, I had socks and cardi on yesterday. Your body will tell you when you’re ready Mick, enjoy the cycling.
Newspaper day, so I’ll be immersed in that for a while, bathroom cleaning and a couple of catch up phone calls today.
Enjoy your day 🦩
Good morning from a grey, dry Kirkwall.
We had a difficult day. We had a planned 6 hour wait at Edinburgh airport for our connection, with no explanation given, the flight was delayed for another FOUR hours. We didn’t arrive here until after 8 pm!
No idea what we’re going to do today , apart from try to get a car for the rest of our stay. Buses today, I think! Hotel is expensive and not very good - room overlooks a wall!
How is old coping with the curfews in France, Ash?
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩
Good morning all. Dull cool & windy here in Sefton.
Nothing planned so a quiet day today apart from a social gathering with a local Lions group this evening.
Have a good weekend.
Good morning all from a dull Black country no rain yesterday but it has definitely gone colder.
NannyJan I to have received form for renewing my drivers licence I think I'm a couple of wks older than you, I shall renew it or though I don't drive DH insurance cheaper if I'm named driver.
Over to our friends in Redditch this evening.
It's that time of the week again full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Enjoy your Saturday whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning from sunny Colchester. We had wind and rain yesterday evening but today's forecast looks ok. A temperature in the low 20s suits me.
DD1 is arriving soon to do our local parkrun. She'll bring DGS1 who's going fishing with DH for the weekend while I entertain DGS3. I expect we'll end up at the playground in the park.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning to all, s somerset is definitely cooler and I am liking it. Sun later and we had rain overnight
My dozy day yesterday was not at all dozy, I was quietly busy all day and even dug and cleared 2 buckets of stones from a patch in the garden that I was clearing. The development is built on an old quarry, footings 4 m deep. Hence also buriel ground for builders rubble
The patch I cleared was damp and sticky, removing the stones will help the drainage as they had to be pryed out. It now appears crumbly, nicer for some baby hellebore. sA satisfying project as I could see the result
Off to return an item to JL via waitrose soon, not of satisfactory quality and I know I will treat myself to a few nice things for the weekend
Have a lovely day
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and dry. It rained a lot yesterday and last night.
Mick definitely stay home until things settle. Greyduster isn't that weird? I wonder where it'll turn up. Ash enjoy recharging your batteries.
Yesterday was fun. My friends arrived at two and didn't leave until nearly seven so a lot of blethering. Dd had made a beautiful cake for one and she was overwhelmed with it. In fact, she didn't want to cut it and took it home whole! Fortunately I had plenty of other cakes, macarons, chocolate eclairs, vanilla slices, meringues with clotted cream and a big bowl of strawberries. I always overdo things.
Today I intend to potter. I had a Tesco delivery last night so I have no need to go shopping. I'll visit mum later. Apparently they are waiting for a bed in a care home for her in a village close to me which will make visiting easier for me and dd. We'll see. Have a good day all
Good morning from a sunny South Downs - although not particularly warm. It was like autumn here yesterday afternoon😮.
A relaxed day planned - a bit of gardening, reading and general lazing. Might watch the final at Eastbourne.
Cold chicken salad and home made Cole slaw with jacket potatoes planned for lunch.
Thoughts with all those in recovery, or ill.
Have a good day one and all
Good morning from a sunny day in Cornwall. Ah well, at least we had one day of refreshing rain. My seven year old granddaughter is coming this morning and is excited apparently, imagining playing with paint and cornflour I suspect. I'd love to go back with her afterwards to their village Fair Day but not sure my knee will play ball. We'll see. Thank you for injections of happiness yesterday about my December knee replacement, you lovely people.
Good morning from a very breezy central Devon. In fact it’s been wet or windy ever since I arrived.
In general, it’s very peaceful here so that’s welcome after the busy times I’ve had in Torbay. The Wi-Fi works well so I enjoyed the usual Zoom call with DH yesterday afternoon. Today he’s going to The Classic at the circuit in Le Mans where vintage vehicles like these (attempt to!) race! This was taken on a ferry earlier this week and posted on Facebook.
Happy weekend, whatever you’ve planned! 🦩🥰😎💐🦩
Good morning Mick and all who follow from a wet Oxfordshire, at last some proper rain to settle the dust.
Not much happening here, I’m almost back to normal after the flu but poor MrOops has it much worse than I had it, full blown flu, poor chap. So, nursing mode for me again today.
Pleased that you are taking it easy Mick it takes a while for everything to get back to normal, plus you will have internal stitches so you don’t want to be racing around for a while longer.
Hope everyone has a good day and that those who are unwell start to feel a bit better.
I’ll pop back later to see what everyone is up to.
Greyduster I hope you find your mug, it’s annoying when something goes missing.
Morning all from a damp and blustery N Wales. We have drawn up a list of various activities for our week away but a lot of them are weather dependent! We’ll see. It’s a lovely holiday house and we are very comfortable. Have a good day everyone. I am thinking of Urms and Mick.
