We went to the same school same year but her name was then Bargery. We would go the shops by the school get broken biscuits or a bag of chips and sit in her maisonette. Her parents were never in I lived further away from school. My mum was home until tea time then went to work and dad worked nights so we never went to my house.
Not proud of sagging but did it as a rebellion because I was told leave school and get a job which I did at 15. Her family moved to new housing in Cheshire.

Yes it’s true!

We were living in Malta (Dad’s posting) and LM was presenting prizes at a swimming gala. Dad was an official so they were sitting just a few feet apart. We children were getting bored and the kiddie’s pool looked very inviting so because I could twist my father round my little finger I reckoned he’d be a better bet to ask than my mother who would insist that decorum ruled the day.

Trouble was that in my haste to get it over and done with I jumped on the wrong lap!

It must have worked because I remember us stripping off and swimming in our underwear - and I lived to tell the tale. 😂
