Good morning from a dull Oxfordshire.

Not much happening today unless it dries up a bit and I can get out and do some gardening, the brambles are shooting up at an alarming rate, and we have rabbits, 4 small bunnies and a large one, not sure if they are resident or hopped in for a snack, we will have to keep an eye on them or we will be overrun by Christmas, not sure how they are getting in though, which is a worry in a fenced in garden.
Have a good day everyone.

Car due at garage for MOT so an early start, then admin and lots of putting things away before DGD1 arrives tomorrow to be my lodger for two weeks while she spends time in a local primary school to see if teaching might be for her.

Yesterday’s book spa at the wonderful Mr B’s was very enjoyable and introduced me to five new writers so I have a reading feast in view. I also bought a set of much needed kitchen knives and a pair of shoes, so a very successful day.

Glad to note Mick’s gentle progress, and hope we all have a good day.

Good morning everyone from a dry and bright Inverness
Pleased you’re home safely now gMattie what a long tiring journey though…
Hopefully that JL refund will find its way to you soon karma, how frustrating
I’m really looking forward to my trip to DD1s later today, this time it’s an afternoon flight down to Gatwick. Then there’s a direct train onto Cambridge so no need to change in London.
Gorgeous sunflowers Jax how kind of your DH
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning all and it’s a bright and sunny one here at the Suffolk seaside. Yesterday my washing dried inbetween downpours as the sun was warm and the wind was strong.

We are heading back to Essex today as we have things going on back there. We never want to leave here but it’s nice once we’re there.

How annoying Karma . I hope you get some success. 🤞.
GG I love a uniform too. The summer ball sounds wonderful. I can imagine your pride! ❤️.
Roseandlilac what a shame about the tomatoes. Ours are well behind but 🤞 we’ll get a reasonable harvest.
Hope you’re feeling a bit better Marydoll and Mick. 🙏

I took some pics last evening as the sun was going down. I’m pleased with this one in particular. I love my Cardoons although They aren’t in bloom yet .I expect they will be when we are next here..

Good morning from a slightly brighter Black Country.

Thursday morning local walk today, along the canal with a cafe stop. This was started by a lady who after finding many walks in lockdown put a message on our local FB page if anyone would like to join her every other Thursday for a walk and chat. There are now about 15 regulars! Turns out she lives literally 5 mins away from me.

No real plans for the afternoon, so just go with the flow.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Boggled very aptly describes the dealings I had with JL a few months ago, karma. Similarly it was for a refund.
Customer services facilitated my order by phone but didn’t explain that any refund could only be made in person in store. There is no explanation of this on the accompanying paperwork, nor are partners in Waitrose aware. Is telepathy assumed?
Sainsbury’s refund system is exemplary. It’s meticulous, super efficient, and virtually instant. It vastly overshadows JL nowadays.
I hope your issue is resolved easily and speedily.

Good morning from an exhausted me in a sunny Bristol. It is so much warmer than in Orkney!
We travelled all day yesterday, taking 12 or so hours for two 1 hour flights. Delays, birdsong the runway, etc. it is so tiring. The bus journey from the airport was standing room only after queuing in the wind an£ drizzle. DD came to pick us up from town
Ash, your kindness is exemplary, it is very touching to be the recipient of such assistance.
Today, I’m washing, sorting things out in the flat, probably miss tai chi as I need to get food in, usual dinner at DD’s.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Morning from high cloud in S Hants.
How disappointing RosesandLilac and frustrating.
Off on holiday WWM2? I must have missed that. Enjoy.
No real plans today, a couple of phone calls, a walk, then cricket to watch.
MrJ bought me some flowers last night, memories of our time living in France.
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩

Good morning from a sunny Cornwall where I've been perusing the bus timetable - so many lovely places to access from here. I have cabin fever from being in with post shingles jab nausea/headache for two days. It was very unpleasant and I'm pretty used to dealing with discomfort. I may venture to the other coast today and en route I can visit a quirky second hand bookshop to buy a Cornish history book for my eldest son's birthday. I see we've a week of rain forecast from Sunday; I'm so pleased as it will save me having to top up my pond. My newest unexpected resident will be happy (pic attached).

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sunny and warm.
A walk today with U3A. It will be a sad one since the death of one of our stalwarts.

Every year I succumb to growing tomatoes roseandlilac. I'm lucky if I get one expensive salad! I love the smell of the plants in the greenhouse.

Keep getting better Mick.
Sorry about your battle with JL Karmalady Try not to let it get you down.
Enjoy the day everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 06-Jul-23 06:44:07

Morning all, you sound more upbeat today Mick enjoy your walk.

I am off to the hairdressers this morning, then this afternoon I have a manicure and pedicure all in preparation for a Summer Ball tomorrow evening. Then it will be going through my posh frocks to decide what to wear.

As it is a joint Forces Ball eldest son will
be in his full dress uniform, he looks so handsome our hearts swell with pride. (mind you the forces both male and female from around the world who attend look wonderful, I do like a uniform 🤣❤️)

Have a good day everyone, (((hugs))) for those in need 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good morning from bright South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday was hugely busy in the shop, we’ve been so lucky with our donations, we have so many lovely things on sale.

I was looking forward to a bit of a lie in however I’m awake as DH turned on the radio on his phone when he went into the shower at six. I don’t think he realises how loud it is when he has no hearing aid in. hmm

I’ll just stay here till he makes the coffee which I’ll bring back to bed.

Today will be spent pottering and reading and finding something for dinner, I have no plans whatsoever.

Safe journeys to all who are travelling today, thoughts with those with sadness, worries, or illness.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning all from a bright start in North Leicestershire.

Yesterday's volunteer day was very enjoyable and very tiring.

Today a day of actually volunteering at a Memory Cafe- always fun and also always tiring. And, a Sainsbury's delivery at tea time.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Nannagarra Thu 06-Jul-23 06:21:42

Good morning from presently overcast Sefton.
Lots of fun and laughter were had yesterday with our DGC. Today I’m meeting friends and putting the world to rights.
Whatever your plans, may there be something to brighten your day.

Good morning from what is promised to be a sunny warmer South Downs. It has been quite autumnal lately!

Getting ready for our trip away. So clear out fridge, water pots etc etc. then pack.

Pleased to see you are recovering mick

ashcombe sometimes our busy lives catch up with us and we must rest, but it is good to know that we can still be busy - if that makes sense🙂

Shepherds pie for lunch

Enjoy today folks

karmalady Thu 06-Jul-23 06:16:44

Good morning from s somerset, weather seems fine today

I am so boggled. That refund from john lewis was for an item returned under guarantee. I now see that the policy is to refund to old JL cc which became defunct last year. My refund is now in the ether and I am so frustrated and angry that I cannot think straight

I need to get out on a cycle ride, to clear my head before I return to writing letters of complaint and dispute after I have delved deep into the internet, to find hidden addresses

Ashcombe Thu 06-Jul-23 06:06:29

Good morning from a dull Torbay.

It sounds like you’re starting to feel better, Mick.

Thank you for your lovely comments yesterday. It’s really uplifting the way people on this daily thread are so positive and encouraging. I felt humbled by what was said. 🙏. The tiredness from the busy Tuesday caught up with me yesterday morning so I did nothing until lunchtime.

Later I went to Wednesday Club where one of our members treated us to some folk songs and stories, accompanied by playing his accordion. A quiet evening and early night was welcome!

Today I must do a Lidl shop and then attend a rehearsal for Dad's Army tonight. It is starting to run more smoothly as folk master their lines.

I hope everyone has a reason to smile today. 🦩🥰🦩💐

RosesandLilac Thu 06-Jul-23 06:02:55

Good morning Mick, I haven’t yet looked out the window so no idea what it’s like outside yet!
Yesterday was a Notalot day, nothing exciting or even vaguely interesting happened really 😊 I did chuck out all my tomato plants that had succumbed to blight (despite four being expensive, ‘blight-resistant’ grafted ones 😡)
I had the magnificent crop of 22of the tiniest tomatoes imaginable, from 6 plants, costing me roughly a £1 each and they don’t even taste nice!
Today I have a hairdresser appointment early so DH is dog walking, I need to sort a few bits out today before my few days away next week then I’m looking forward to the next Tour de France stage in the mountains later (I love seeing the scenery).
Apparently DH is going out for tea with his sisters ( I don’t mind in the slightest not being invited!), lucky him 🫤
Have a lovely day everyone 🌹
