Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire. You sound brighter today Mick, enjoy the walk.

Yesterday was a very quiet day apart from a visit to the pharmacy. One of my items wasn’t ready so I have to go back again today.

You are so right about this thread Ashcombe, I don’t have much to post about but I always read to see how everyone is doing.

Glad you’re feeling better Mizuna, I haven’t been offered a shingles jab yet and I’m not sure I want one!

What gorgeous flowers Jaxjacky, I hope you’re feeling better and the side effects of your meds are wearing off.

You must be exhausted Grandmattie, quite the island adventure.

Safe journey Brook, I hope it’s not as taxing as Grandmattie’s.

I’m glad you’re feeling brighter Marydoll, I’m sure Dollie’s visit will be the icing on the cake!

Lovely photo Greyduster, we have grebes in the dock here.

Thinking of Kalu, Urms and all who are dealing with illness right now.

Have a good day all 🌻🌻🌻

Good morning all from a sunny W Kent. Another good day with GD2 yesterday. I took her to have tea with a friend of mine who knew her mother (DD2) when she was a baby. DF has no problem asking questions we wouldn't dream of so I know more about DGD2's ex boyfriend than I did before. DGD2 then went off to meet friend and I watched the King in Edinburgh.
This morning is art and then a fish and chip lunch with DGD.
Glad to hear you are hoping to get out Mick and you got home in the end gM sounds like a marathon.
One of my great aunts embroidered and made the gold work for uniforms, we still have a small bottle with some of her work in which is now with eldest DD.
Take care everyone

Grandmabatty Thu 06-Jul-23 09:01:39

Marydoll 😂😂😂

Good morning Mick and all from a mixed up weather wise northwest coast, sun then cloud.
Into town for nails, euros etc against Biarritz holiday tomorrow. Going by bus again as DS has loan of my car. He arrives with DGD this evening and we drive south tomorrow to join DD and my sister. Painted my toenails myself (big deal😁)

Keep taking it easy Mick and thoughts as always to those GNs with troubles 🌸

Good Morning from a sunny S Yorks. (as opposed to the weather forecast, tho I won't risk washing out).

Yesterday was full of preparing for decorators as I had cleaning lady help and after a horrible nightmares night am going to switch appointments to give me some down time for a swim.

Bests with JL. I Karma and bests for todays poorlies: enjoy holidays and outings.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle where it is due to rain I believe.

Good luck with the walk Mick, you must have bad cabin fever by now.
I have it too after 4 days within so I'm off out to the garden centre where hopefully I will not buy any plants! I still have a queue waiting to be planted though it is diminishing. I'm going to look round their bits and pieces area and get my 'free' coffee. This time, there is free cake too because it is my birthday month. Actually, there will be two as you are entitled to one for your partner as well so I will have to eat the second on DH's behalf!
After that, not much.. I am reading a most interesting and erudite book on the Anglo-Saxons who sound just as fierce and warlike as the Vikings.

You are going to spend an annoying amount of time chasing that refund, karma, so hard to contact these people these days. Good luck.

Have a good day everyone.

Mizuna

I have that same reaction to firemen Marydoll. When I needed rescuing from my exterior hallway because the security gate was stuck I could hardly contain myself as four firemen turned up.

💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

I once phoned 999 to report a fire in a derelict factory, then lay in the bath with a green face pack on.
A while later, DH banged on the door and said there were two fire appliance at the front door and the duty officer wanted to speak to me.
I told DH to go away and leave me in peace.
A voice then said, Madam, would you kindly come out of the bath, I have to speak to you! 😱
By this time the livid green face pack had set rock hard.
Out I came and the fireman asked if I could show him, where the fire was. This meant taking him into the bedroom, to show him.
Madam, that's a burst water main, it looks like smoke rising. I was absolutely mortified, because I had wasted their time and half the street were outside, thinking our house was on fire.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 06-Jul-23 08:45:08

Morning all from the breakfast table in our holiday house in Wales. I think it might get up to the dizzy heights of 18 degrees today! It is our last full day today and we are hoping to spend it in Abbeydovey(sp). Packing this evening and off home by 10 am tomorrow. I heard I had won on the Premium Bonds this morning. I’ve no idea how much until I get home as the necessary codes are in my filing cabinet! Have a good day everyone. Still take it easy Mick, and I’m thinking of Urms.

Good morning from a sunny Black country, washing in the machine.
Shopping today and I need to look for some presents we have a few birthdays within the next few weeks.
Glad to see you are feeling a bit brighter Mick enjoy your cycling.
Marydoll enjoy the sleepover Dollie being there better than anything the doctor prescribes.
Everyone enjoy your day whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Taichinan Thu 06-Jul-23 08:32:54

Good morning Mick and everyone from a cool bright Angus coast. I hope your trip to the Chemists goes well Mick and isn't too tiring.
Some lovely photos today. Sunflowers always remind me of when we were posted to Malta in 1972 and given a flat opening out onto a poolside. At the other side of the pool were beds of sunflowers, and beyond that the glorious blue of the Mediterranean. Add to that a huge bowl of peaches on the dining room table which had cost all of 9d - we thought we'd died and gone to heaven!!
Your mention of your Summer Ball, GG, also brought back lots of memories of lavish affairs which usually started with pre-Ball drinks, via the Oyster Bar and on through the night until breakfast was served at 5am. It was a badge of honour to still be there for breakfast!! Enjoy yours Grannygravy!
I had to consult Mr Google about cardoons gingster. Never heard of them! You learn something new every day - that's my lesson for today
Back to the Now, and I shall be off to Tai Chi soon. I know what I want to teach this morning but I'm easily side-tracked, so we'll see what happens.
Enjoy your days everyone 🌞

harrigran Thu 06-Jul-23 08:32:52

Good morning from the NE where the heating has come on again.
Big shop in Sainsbury's but forgot some items needed for dinner so had to go to Morrisons too, big mistake because they had 25% off 🍷.
While the joint was in the oven SIL had a look at the gutters over the porch, been getting them overflowing so thought they must be blocked. He filled a bin bag with dirt, moss and little plants. Hoping that resolves the problem.
DS is coming after work and taking me to GD's school to see the Lion King, she is Mufasa. She has a lovely singing voice but never ever sings in the house so it is good to hear her on the stage.
Have a good day everyone.

Greyduster Thu 06-Jul-23 08:27:24

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a sunny South Yorkshire. Enjoy your little walk, Mick, but don’t overdo it. Very easy to get carried away.
GrannyGravy DH used to look wonderful in his mess kit. On formal nights, the men used to put the ladies firmly in the sartorial shade😊! Enjoy your evening!
I went for a walk after tea last night in our country park. I saw two grebes doing their courtship dance. A first for me - I was thrilled. I usually go walking on Thursday morning but am going to give it a miss today. I’ll go for a swim later instead and then must go to the garden centre to get a particular type of weed killer that will hopefully put an end to my bindweed problem! GS phoned last evening from Silverstone where he and his dad have set up camp for few days at the Grand Prix. He was very excited. I hope he’s still excited after a night in a tent!
Have the best day you can folks.

Jaxjacky Thu 06-Jul-23 08:27:22

Cardoons are unusual Gingster I read about them years ago, do you use them?
Our green patch is mostly weeds too Georgesgran but the bees and butterflies like it.

hulahoop Thu 06-Jul-23 08:25:40

Good morning all.
Today we are moving on from Brixham to travel down to the Lizard.
We have had such a happy week with our friends.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Marydoll Thu 06-Jul-23 08:18:30

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it' 12°C, with showers ( again) forecast.

Mick, I am glad to hear you are feeling well enough to venture out. As we have said, baby steps. Do you have a stick, in case you feel wobbly?
It never ceases to amazes me, that when I have had a period of incapacity, thinking I will never feel well again, I waken up one morning and I know that things are improving, albeit marginally.
Getting out will raise your spirits, but be careful.
That happened to me yesterday. It was subtle, but I managed to go to DH's to leave shopping, climb under the stairs, without any mishaps to switch off the alarm, (once in I get stuck or bang my head 🥴) and spend an hour pottering in the garden, albeit doing very little.

Baubles, I have spent a week trying to get the BHF to collect bags. I found out yesterday that the shop phone line had been down for a week and the manager told me they lost so many donations. sad As I have said before, BHF are funding the research done by the cardiology professor, whose clinic list I am on, so I am very keen to support them.

I needed the bags away from the spare room, because Dollie, at her request, is coming for a sleepover today. 🥰 After ten days away, we have missed her so much and she us.
Fingers crossed she is ok. DH sent us a picture of her at the dinner table, having fallen asleep over a bag of chips. Poor wee soul who was exhausted and grumpy after all the travelling, was in bed and asleep by 7pm.
I can't wait to see her. We won't be doing our usual gallivanting, until I feel a bit stronger, I'm sure she won't be in the least bit bothered.
She likes to come here, because "gran and papa don't give her chores to do," she is in for a rude awakening! 🤣

*GrannyGray, we have yet another thing in common, I go weak at the knees at the sight of a uniform. 😚
My friend was a very handsome BA captain, who once came in full uniform, to talk to my pupils and I had to lock the door of the classroom to keep out the drooling staff. 😉 The more braid, the better. I am so shallow.🤣

Karma, how frustrating for you. I'm surprised you weren't asked where you wanted the refund to be sent.

I wish you all the best of days and a multi, I hope all goes well with the dressing removal today.

Pittcity Thu 06-Jul-23 08:17:43

Good morning from sunny Colchester. Looks like we'll have a dry day, so I've got the washing machine on. No plans today so we'll potter.
Love to all 🦩 x

Georgesgran Thu 06-Jul-23 08:16:00

Good morning from Durham. Rushing around to get Little Dog to the groomers. A fire in Newcastle has closed roads all week, so long delays are inevitable. I’m pleased to be out as the awful neighbours are having work done inside the house to get it market ready and the already difficult parking situation has deteriorated further!
Gardeners due this afternoon to tackle the garden. The ‘lawn’ needs attention, more weed than grass now - I treated it with some organic stuff, but it’s made no difference.
Best wishes to all. X

BlueSapphire Thu 06-Jul-23 08:15:44

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton. Just put the bedding in the washing machine, and am awaiting an early Sainsbury's delivery. They have sent an email to say they have everything on my order.

Enjoyed the Indiana Jones film yesterday (and the Prosecco I had to go with it!). The usual dare-devil feats and just escaping death several times over, mixed in with humour and a far-fetched story!

Glad you enjoyed Mr B's, Granny Somerset. I got DD a book subscription for Christmas from there one year. She had to fill in an on-line form statng her literary preferences, and they chose a book to send her every month or so. I think she liked it!

Early lunch today, as I have two dance classes early afternoon. Sausage, mash and fried onions for dinner.

Hope Thursday is kind to all, especially those burdened by illness and worries.

Grandmabatty Thu 06-Jul-23 08:06:32

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and cloudy. Dry though which is something. GrandMattie the weather on the islands further north is not for everyone. Brook safe journey later. I'm missing Susan. I hope she is ok.
Yesterday was a nice day. Chiropodist first then a couple of hours with my friend's partner. He's struggling a bit at the moment. Later dd came to borrow my KitchenAid. I didn't hear her and sil knocking so she phoned me from outside. My hearing is deteriorating sadly. I visited mum at night but she made it very clear she didn't want to talk to me, so I left after fifteen minutes.
Today I'm picking up an order of holiday clothes from Matalan. I haven't been there for a long time, but rediscovered it. Then this afternoon I'm going to a friend's house for coffee. Dinner is taken care of as I made a chicken curry last night and there's plenty for tonight. Have a good day all

Morning Mick, morning All from a brightening corner of Somerset.

Towels are churning in the machine, hope to get them dry before we head out for a walk after lunch, as soon as I turn my back on laundry it rains. General faffing for me this morning

Hope Thursday is kind to us all.
