Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey and misty start here in brackley this morning.
Today, a quiet day in, with the F1 Grand Prix up the road at Silverstone today, Mercedes have had chequered Flags on display in various locations in the town .
The Tour de France is my aim today as its in the Massif central region of France.
Take Care,
Mick

Sorry to hear you got stuck in that storm, Wyllow. Sitting in a car in that would have just about finished me off!

NannyJan53 Sun 09-Jul-23 09:42:34

Good morning from a dull and cloudy Black Country. Plenty of rain yesterday.

DGD3 is 14 today, will be meeting up with all the family for a meal on Thursday when her sister DGD1 is 19.

No real plans to day, gym then go with the flow.

Glad you are still posting gM that was really a very uncalled for and unkind post yesterday.

Welcome to Thorntrees and Maria

Jaxjacky Sun 09-Jul-23 09:40:53

Perhaps your GP could try a different antibiotic Ekwa you’ve been struggling for a while?
Welcome those who don’t usually post, I rarely have much to say on here, just bumbling along, but it is a pleasant community and was indeed Monk08 a haven during lockdown.

harrigran Sun 09-Jul-23 09:27:08

Good morning from the NE where it is dry now after torrential rain during the night.
It rained all day yesterday but we visited my sister and BIL at their seaside home and had a lovely chat. DS and family had a walk along the seafront with umbrellas.
SIL is visiting today and bringing dinner with him, a duck meal ordered from Cote, three courses but hopefully not too filling.
Thoughts are with Urmston and Kalu and all others with worries.
Enjoy the stage show Ashcombe.

Good morning I don't post very often as we live a quiet life with little to report.
This thread was very kind to me when my DGS was ill 18 months ago.
I was going to post yesterday before the thread took a turn. Anyway what I wanted to say was there are companies who will collect luggage from your home and deliver to your destination allowing the less mobile to turn up at railway station and enjoy the journey.

Good Morning from an overcast S Yorks.

yesterday was planned for r and r but in the evening I set out for a little drive in the sun into the High Peak.

The storm Grey mentioned in the evening happened to me while I was stuck for nearly 2 hours in a lay-by waiting for the AA! and I was a "priority" customer as well. 4G was down but fortunately the car radio still worked.

Probably just Quakers today.

Welcome to newbies, may poorlies have as good a day as possible, and enjoy outings and family.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 09-Jul-23 09:14:20

Morning all

Enjoy the Tour de France Mick it’s such a shame that Mark Cavendish cannot get break the stage wins record only equal it now.

Well I have recovered from the Summer Ball at JCHQ, a fabulous evening. The theme was Around the Word in 80 Days with themed rooms American Wild West, Tokyo Dance Hall, Venice, Calcutta, Cairo, Moulin Rouge, Bavarian Ski Lodge and my favourite Hyde Park where they had the most beautiful carousel and enormous ferris wheel with various side shows. (Note to self do not go on carousel or ferris wheel immediately after dinner)
I blame the Tokyo Dance Hall for my sore feet and late night 😘👠
(We did say that we hoped there wasn’t an International Incident on Friday night/Saturday morning, as there would have been a lot of sore heads at the top of our military and those of multiple foreign forces, boy can the Americans, French and Scandi Forces party )

A quiet day for us apart from F1 at Silverstone, I would love to go to a race, quite fancy Monaco as I love it there anyway). Hopefully going out for a late Sunday lunch.
Urmstongran I hope himself enjoys the F1, should be a good race.

Have a good day folks, (((hugs))) to all in need 🙋‍♀️🦩

Welcome, Thorntrees. Yes, it is a very lovely thread.
I have received so much support and affection in the last two years - you may not be aware, but myDS2 died very suddenly, followed by DH to cancer last July after nursing him for several months. GMmers have been invaluable to me.

Good morning it’s starting to cloud over here in Co Armagh.
I was hoping to go out without a coat , I might have to put on shoes rather than the sandals I prefer
My girls are due home from holidays , I haven’t heard from them , sleeping in no doubt
I haven’t posted for a few days as I had hurt another poster by a thoughtless few words ,
Actually I don’t have a lot to post about , but I can witter on , so I’ve been told
I’m still lighting the candles , but they ran out of them last week , I hope they are replenished this morning so I can remember all the poorly and sad Gransners ( seems there’s no such word !
Isn’t it a pain trying to outwit the computer 🙄

EkwaNimitee Sun 09-Jul-23 09:07:10

Hallo, Thorntrees, you're right about this thread.

EkwaNimitee Sun 09-Jul-23 09:05:00

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. Won't necessarily stay that way...We had a modest thunderstorm in the night and more showers may be due.
Enjoy the Tour, Mick, they'll be in an interesting part of France. I've been to the top of the Puy de Dome but definitely not on a bike! So sad to see the happenings on yesterday's stage. I wonder if Cav will change his mind about retirement and have another go next year?

Today, not a lot as I'm still battling my infection and hoping not to see the Doc again though don't now what he could do if the last lot of antibiotics didn't work. I shall get out and do a bit of deadheading and tidying but that will be it, other than that I shall be continuing to read my tome on the Anglo-Saxons.

That's very sad news from you Marydoll, it just doesn't seem very long since you first posted about that young man and his MND diagnosis.

Have the best possible day all and still thinking of you Urmston and Kalu.

Nannagarra Sun 09-Jul-23 09:04:17

Good morning from bright Sefton where, finally, the rain has stopped. The lawn is reappearing.
A quiet day will be had: tomorrow we’re out walking with friends in a very hilly region.
Sending thoughts to Urms, Kalu and all who face difficulties.

👋 Welcome Thorntrees I know what you mean about being in touch with the wider world, it certainly helped during lockdown.

GrannySomerset Sun 09-Jul-23 08:56:57

I need not have worried about DGS1 and driving the automatic car - she picked it up immediately and drove very well so I am not concerned about her this next fortnight. I think she is a better driver than me though less experienced, and will I am sure be fine. There is of course always the other idiot ……

A quiet day today apart from meal planning and ironing F’s crumpled clothes since her packing skills are poor. No, I am not doing it for her, she is keen to be a grown up, but I will point out where the iron lives.

Thinking of all those posters finding life hard just now.

brook2704 Sun 09-Jul-23 08:56:24

A very warm welcome Thorntrees it’s good to see you here. I love hearing about day to day things so please join in!

baubles Sun 09-Jul-23 08:53:02

Hello Thorntrees and you’re very welcome to this lovely thread.

baubles Sun 09-Jul-23 08:51:49

Good morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s sunny at the moment.
Yesterday’s threatened storms passed us by thankfully.

Such sad news Marydoll.

Sad to hear that there’s been an upset on this lovely thread, people do sometimes read things into the written word which wouldn’t happen in a spoken conversation.

A quiet Sunday for us, lunch out probably at our usual place, then a pottering about afternoon.

Take care everyone, sending thoughts to Kalu and Urms especially.

Grandmabatty Sun 09-Jul-23 08:50:33

Good morning Thorntrees. Welcome to Mick's thread. Have a lovely day

Ashcombe Sun 09-Jul-23 08:48:45

Ash enjoy seeing your DGS at the Grange you will be 10mins away from me.

I wondered if you were familiar with this theatre as I wrote my post, monk08!

Thorntrees Sun 09-Jul-23 08:46:47

Good morning all.
I’m a very occasional poster but read every day. I was sad to read the unpleasant post yesterday on such a friendly thread. Good to see GM posting as usual.
I suppose I don’t often post because we lead a very quiet life so not a lot to say. Sharing in everyone’s joys and sadness and everyday doings on here helps me feel in touch with a wider world if that makes sense,
Wishing everyone a calm and happy Sunday.

Grammaretto Sun 09-Jul-23 08:43:50

Autocorrect has a lot to answer for Liberty and Marydoll
grin

Liberty Sun 09-Jul-23 08:33:28

Marydoll…. Just shows I should read before posting what I have written!! I meant to say ‘closed shop’ and certainly not ‘loser’….so sorry if that caused upset or offence.

Going to read this carefully before I press.

Marydoll Sun 09-Jul-23 08:24:58

whether they think it is a’ loser shop’.

I'm not sure what you mean Liberty. I wondered if we seemed like a clique or some feel they have nothing interesting to say. All that is needed to join in, would be a Good Morning.
I ahve received PMS from people, who say they read on a daily basis, but don't post.

I tend to overthink things.

Jaxjacky Sun 09-Jul-23 08:22:05

Morning from a cooler S Hants, two claps of thunder and light rain for us yesterday, the odd shower forecast today.
I need to ‘prune’ my tomato plants in the greenhouse, it’s like a jungle in there, air needs to circulate.
A walk later in between showers, then we’ll be watching the cricket, poussin for dinner.
Enjoy your break WWM2, not been to Suffolk, only the broads years ago.
Lots of goings on today, have fun all.

monk08 Sun 09-Jul-23 08:19:32

Good morning all from a muggy Black country.
DH should have been on fishing contest today but he cancelled it early in the week because of saftey issues for his members, committee members had been to check the venue and weren't happy with the conditions of the bank.
Ash enjoy seeing your DGS at the Grange you will be 10mins away from me.
Marydoll condolences to your friends so sad💐.
Shall have a chill day methinks roast beef later for dinner.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
