Good Morning Sunday 9th July 2023

Good morning from a sunny and dry Suffolk. No rain at all yesterday or for a day or two although there is a predicted chance of it around lunchtime today.

Like others I missed the post about GM yesterday but whatever it was it’s good to see your usual chatty and interesting post today.

Interesting thought on your post Marydoll about those who read regularly but don’t post and whether they think it is a’ loser shop’. Having been a reader for a few months and a quite recent poster I was warmly welcomed but recognised that many of you had been in contact for a long time and therefore knew a lot about previous activities and family etc.

DS and family are coming later and bringing their new puppy,a Cavapoo, who is 14 weeks old and can now mix with other dogs having had all her vaccinations. Will be interesting to see how our dog takes to her especially when DH makes a big fuss of the puppy!

Thinking of those who have sadness in their lives.

Good morning from a damp, grey W Kent. Tidying up day and getting ready for DGS5 to come and stay overnight. We have to get him to school tomorrow something we haven’t been involved for years, hope we are up to it.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and dry. I think there was thunder last night but my hearing is dull so it didn't wake me. We certainly had rain.
Marydoll such sad news from you about that young man. Ash have a lovely time watching your talented dgs. Cornergran my fingers are crossed for your DH and I hope his op can go ahead.
Yesterday was housework day. I did the food shopping at Aldi which has had a swanky refit and it took me ages to find where everything was. At night I visited mum who was much brighter and more responsive but a bit doolally. She thinks the woman opposite is a star from the TV show, ' Some Mother's Do Have Them.' I did have a quiet smile.
Today I'm having the boys for a couple of hours this morning then I have an ironing to do. Salmon salad for dinner. I made a watermelon and feta salad to go with it last night and it was lovely. I have some left over for tonight too. Have a good day all

Last Thursday I had a lovely meeting with our fellow Gransnetter Sago and what a delightful lady she is. We could have chatted all day and had so much in common.

We have our little grandaughter this morning. She slept with me all night and I’m so tired this morning. DH had a lovely night sleep downstairs. We are going to take her swimming and for lunch then take her home. I think I’ll be having a nap this afternoon.

Morning all from a bright and somewhat cooler North Leicestershire. We had phenomenal rain last evening so it is a little fresher.

Our Greek Taverner meal last night was delicious. We are very lucky to have visits from various food 'vans' within striking distance. Our favourite is the Burgerologist.

Today I am taking one of my brothers to the neurology dept of a local hospital for the results of an MRI. He had been having 'blank' days. He also has an appt at the Memory Clinic in a couple of weeks.

For those of you worried about the memory of your spouses, one recommendation from AgeUK is to speak to their doctor expressing your concerns. The theory is that the gp will then do a 'routine' check next time they see them.

Yesterday we were lucky and only got a few drops of rain, although thunderstorms had been forecast. I had an enjoyable day just catching up with DD1 and helping with a few jobs, then late afternoon we all went out to a pub in Granchester and sat outside for a lovely meal. Not sure what our plans are today yet - will see

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
It's rained all night so hopefully it will stop today. I want to take my cousin to see some gardens open to the public for one day only.
She helped in the paper museum yesterday. We were quite busy and she was a great hit with the visitors, listening to their stories and plunging her hands into the mushy water to make a piece of paper.
Sorry to hear of the stooshie on here yesterday. GM I missed it but can guess.

Good morning everyone from Severnside. Every day seems to forecast thundery showers but I’ve yet to hear the thunder.

I sat outside yesterday reading under the veranda, even when it rained.

Having a mooch around the house yesterday I thought I should sort out the duvets I have and get rid of some of the tatty ones. Won’t be today though as I have a job waiting for me in the garage.

I’ve a small shop to do this morning then I’m going to make a lasagne. Can’t remember the last time I made one.

Good morning all from a bright Glasgow, where its 12°C and bright skies.
I was woken at 3am, by the torrential rain. The only upside of that is that DH is delighted by the condition of his front grass!

I just want to say I am delighted to see you still posting GM. The incident yesterday led me to mull over how many people read this thread, but never post. Do they feel we are a closed group and find it difficult to join in? I hope not.

Yesterday, I managed an hour in the garden (with lots of sit downs) and planted my forgotten leeks in the raised bed.
Also, I thinned out my rocket and spinach, so progress has been made.
I then spent the afternoon resting, doing a little sewing. I'm finding it very difficult to adapt to this way of life, but am becoming accepting of it, because things aren't going to improve.

Later, I realised I had not done the new rotas for the various ministries in the parish. For various reasons and the fact that I hate doing them, I had procrastinated!
The rotas are a logistical nightmare, because we have four weekend masses and people are often on holiday.
They are all done now and emailed off, a huge wait off my frazzled mind! 😉
I know I should think of giving up all my parish , but that would mean that I have acknowledged that things are not good. I need to keep brain occupied, so that I don't dwell on things.

Today is the anniversary my BIL's death. My touchy sister in law has asked us to accompany her to Mass in a neighbouring parish, the one we were brought up in, to remember him. My nephew has come up from London to be with her.
I haven't been to Mass for four weeks, due to not feeling up to it, but saying, No, would cause all sorts of problems. I am dreading it, in case I have to go out of Mass, feeling unwell, as happened recently.

I have notes all over the house to remind me that this in biologics day and to take my injection out of the fridge, an hour beforehand.
The first thing DH said, when he brought my cuppa, was INJECTION 😁

Finally, I have some bad news. My friend's son in law, with MND died yesterday, leaving two young children. 😪 We are shocked at the speed at which this cruel disease ravaged his body.
We are a close group, and pre Covid often socialised together at family gatherings. I just can't get my head around it.

Good morning all and it’s very grey here in Essex. We had some rain eventually yesterday evening.

A wasted day yesterday - too sticky and humid to do anything useful, watched the tennis until we were goggle-eyed, read some of my(not very good) book. Dh decided to trim the bushes out the front so I swept up the droppings. We were both shattered afterwards.🥵.

Hopefully today will be better. We’re off to DS1’s for afternoon tea. ☕️🫖. 🧁.

DS2 is in three finals at his tennis club today. He’ll be fit for nothing tomorrow.

GM I also missed the uncalled for post yesterday. Sense of humour bypass springs to mind. Hope you weren’t upset by it .

Roseandlilac I have a Dh exactly the same. Nothing we can do about it.😤. Enjoy your art residential. And I hope the funeral isn’t too sad 🙏.

Good morning from Colchester where the sun is peeking out from behind grey clouds. We had some rain last night but none of the thunderstorms that we'd been expecting.
Yesterday's heat and humidity knocked me out, so DGS got a bit bored. It's cooler today so we'll dodge showers and go into the next door park this morning.
The fishermen will be back later and we'll deposit the boys home.

Good morning from a cloudy Rugeley following a thunderstorm late afternoon yesterday. I was glad to be back in my hotel room by then with my “meal deal” from a nearby garage for tea!

Yesterday, I caught up with a couple of friends from when I lived in Staffordshire and visited the sister of one who is now in a Care Home. I had researched a recommended lunch venue only to find they weren’t keen to serve us as they were hosting a baby shower. Why accept our booking then?! We divided to leave and chose instead another place where we were immediately recognised by the two sisters who ran it as they were ex pupils from when my friend and I had worked in a local school!

Earlier I’d had breakfast in Subway where I was recognised by the manageress as she'd worked with my DS in Burger King next door when he was a teenager! (He’s now 42!) It’s that kind of town although greatly in decline since my last visit some years ago. The Main Street was deserted compared with the crowds I was used to seeing on a Saturday.

Today I shall go with my DS, DD2 and DGD to see my DGS in Alice in Wonderland. It’s being staged at The Grange Playhouse in Walsall. Your GD is fortunate to attend a school which clearly understands the importance of the Arts in education, harrigran. Last week a young man, aged 15, came to our theatre in Torquay on work experience and was an absolute gem, turning his hand to booking seats in the Box Office, operating the technical side at the desk, front of house duties, besides visiting the Wardrobe and Props teams. He also read in for an absent actor at a Dad's Army rehearsal! His school run GCSE courses in Drama and Music so he is lucky.

Today I need to sort myself out for the week, I have a funeral tomorrow morning then a long drive for my art residential to Thursday. It actually starts this afternoon so I will miss a bit of it.
The funeral will be very special, my lovely friend says she’s sure there will be laughter as well as tears)

I need to leave very clear written instructions for DH, it seemed his memory is definitely getting worse but he won’t see the doctor so nothing I can do. He doesn’t look after his health, never has, unfortunately and nothing anyone says(family, GP, practice nurse) will change that, so I leave him to it ☹️.

Morning Mick, morning All. Warm and cloudy start to our corner of Somerset.

Yesterday morning we drove further along the coast and found sunshine. Enjoyed a walk and coffee in the sun before coming home to gentle rain which stopped after an hour or so. Late afternoon driving 6 miles inland to allow me to collect a package what did we find? Mini lakes instead of puddles and chaos because torrential rain found its way in and brought ceiling with it.

Storms forecast here later today. No plans to venture out, a faffing day for me and yet another jigsaw for Mr C. There has to be a name for jigsaw addiction . We’ll know tomorrow whether Mr C’s surgery can go ahead on Friday. Surgeon is trying to rally consultant support to fill in for registrars. We’re prepared for another postponement.

Didn't get in yesterday so no idea what happened grandmattie. All I’ll say is my parents made similar comments in jest about their final home, as did we. Now we laugh with our neighbours about our own development, Isn’t it what folk do?

Scones greyd? I wouldn’t dare. No matter what I do mine resemble digestive biscuits and would break toes if dropped. Our family has been known to beg me not to make them!

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m tempted to have a lie in rather than go to church. Yesterday’s trip to London was fun but exhausting. At one point I got soaked in a sudden downpour. I had time to spare before meeting younger son so hired a deckchair and sat in the sun in Green Park. With no warning at all the heavens opened and I was soaked. Anyway, we had a lovely lunch and then walked to the Queen’s Gallery for the Georgian exhibition. Very impressive. Then tea! Son is starting a new job as a policy adviser at one of the Government Ministries in a couple of weeks, so that’s good news. He has a Phd in quite an unusual subject but his research skills got him the job. I got home yesterday to find my kitchen a little sticky! OH had visited his bees and it seems they had produced some honey! We had a short talk about honey, uncovered bowls, the fact it is summer and ants! Have a good day and I’m specially thinking of Urms and others with difficulties.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Enjoy the Grand Prix, Mick, and spare a thought for my GS and his dad who are under canvas there this weekend!! The sun is out at the front of the house but the sky is very grey at the back! We had the mother and father of all thunderstorms last night and torrential rain. It unnerved me! Enjoyed DD’s company yesterday. She’s a real powerhouse and gets things done whereas I stand around flapping my hands!! We have a wood mouse in the garden - a pretty little thing, but I’m wondering now how many kinfolk he has, because there’s never just one mouse is there? DS is coming down today and we’re going out for Sunday lunch. I’ll get up early and make a batch of scones to have later with strawberries and cream.

May I thank you all for your very kind remarks and support followings verbal attack by a lurker. It was uncalled for, but if s/he took offence at my gentle poking fun at myself and fellow residents of sheltered housing, I apologise.
I went to the church coffee and chat at church, then on to my upstairs neighbour who wanted me to talk about my holiday - pointing out the places we had visited in Orkney, on the tea towel I gave her.
Quiet afternoon and evening.
Today, after church, friends from Sandwich is taking me out to lunch.

A good day yesterday, two big tall pots are filled and ready for new plants. Two tomato plants disposed of as they are showing signs of blight. Then a lovely trip out to waitrose. A much busier day there on a saturday. I do like the journey there

It is going to be another no cycle day, I don`t go out in threat of rain and muddy lanes and a hilly walk will do fine later, not long but enough to get puffed and hot. Otherwise, what will be will be, today

Good morning from a drizzly Cornwall where I've just remembered I left my Dry Robe out overnight. Still, it is designed for wet conditions. Today is church at 4pm and the luxury before that of sorting my downstairs messy art room so I can start concreting again. Note to self: do it rather than talk about it! Lovely evening yesterday with daughter-in-law and gentle 13-year-old grandson who is the size of a man now. How did that little tiny boy I cared for from age two grow into this big person?!!
