To give you an example of how these criminals use voice recordings...
My friend had a call from her teenage GS saying he was at the police station and needed bail money. Could Grandma go to the police station with the money?
My friend immediately phoned her son who said GS was at home! She said "the voice" sounded exactly like her GS.

Here’s an article explaining the scam.

They will keep you on the phone to record your voice
They will use an Ai program to make up a begging/ in trouble message to friends or family.
They will ask a lot of questions so they get you to say all the words they need to be used in these calls.

She probably means, use your voice to ring members of your family etc to get money from them ……

Am I just being dense? How would hearing your own voice make you hand over bank details? confused

Whatever next! I can see the day coming when no transactions take place over the telephone as everyone will be too scared to do it!

I’ve put this up as it’s rather sinister.
You will receive a phone call from someone ( could be anyone you don’t know)
They will keep you on the phone for as long as they can.
What they are doing is recording your voice to use in an Ai programme.
They will use this Ai voice to call you to scam you out of money.
We have a password that all the family know. If you get one of these calls, ask for the password.
I’ve seen the video of it being used, it’s scary.
