Good morning from a wet Midlands, however I don’t mind tge weather, it’s the very hot weather I can’t stand.
Don’t know what I’m doing, in and out in the dry spells doing some gardening I think.
How lovely Wyllow, on holiday with your two siblings. There must be a lot of catching up to do.

Wyllow3 Fri 14-Jul-23 07:45:50

Morning from my sis's in Exmoor
its pouring down all day.

Arrived 2 days ago for 6 days but had to rest up yesterday so missed sun!

Very nice to be with both my sibs, it's been 7 years since we were.

Bests for poorlies and hoping outings in other places have better weather than here!

brook2704 Fri 14-Jul-23 07:43:07

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and dry just now but rain forecast for later
Good to hear you sounding a bit brighter today mick, enjoy your fish and chips later
Today a quick trip to the gym for the circuits class, pop to Tesco and then home. I’m hoping the weather stays dry enough this morning to mow the grass before it gets any longer.
Hoping everyone out and about on holiday has a lovely time and safe travels if on the move today.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

kittylester Fri 14-Jul-23 07:35:27

Should gave said that DH is watching The Who outdoors.

Grandmachrisy47 Fri 14-Jul-23 07:33:53

Good morning from a dry, as yet, Co Durham. It’s dgd’s school sports day this afternoon, but the forecast is for rain from 11am. Hope it holds off because she normally does well in her races.
Congratulations on your new granddaughter, Pittcity.
Glad you got your permission sorted GMattie, a designer will be so useful. Good that you’re improving, Mick. RoseandLilac, have to tried the Waze app? It is good for real time driving, giving info on hold ups and alternative routes. Marydoll, you are an inspiration.
Had a lovely lunch with a friend yesterday in a local Italian restaurant, we haven’t been out for a while and we talked for England 😀.
No dgd and granddogs today, so no rushing about. No plans except watching dgd at her sports day, weather permitting.
Thinking of Urms and Kalu, and all with problems.

kittylester Fri 14-Jul-23 07:30:46

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

DH is having a wobble about the kitchen work surfaces for the new kitchen so we are off to the kitchen designers, AGAIN, this morning. Last chance before they start to manufacture it. Panic!!!

DH is going to see The Who with DGS3 tonight. The weather looks appalling. Glad I will be home watching a film.

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 14-Jul-23 07:22:29

Morning all

Ha Ha the dreaded A12, one of my missions in life has been to find ways around not using it!I detest the bloomin thing, other than being a noisy road surface it has so many accidents on it 🤬🤬

It’s grey here rain is expected, gym first thing, then pick up The Imp from preschool and see how he wants to spend the afternoon until we pick up his brother. An hour or so of stopping them arguing (they have decided they do not like each other, I do hope it’s only temporary 🤣)
Thus evening we are meeting friends for dinner in Leigh, a favoured Italian restaurant, DH looked online and remarked that its price’s had all gone up, mind you everything everywhere is putting up prices!

Congratulations Pittcity

Please don’t try and do too much as you have an empty Marydoll

(((Hugs))) for our poorly friends

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Greyduster Fri 14-Jul-23 07:17:33

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire. Good to hear you’re feeling more positive today Mick. Enjoy your fish and chips! We are set to have a very wet weekend here so chances to get out will probably be few. I have no excuse not to set my new printer up then! It can’t stay in its box forever! Can it?
Have the best day you can, folks.

Beechnut Fri 14-Jul-23 07:17:01

Good morning from a wet Severnside which looks set for a good while.

I had my haircut yesterday. It’s a bit shorter than usual.
I then loafed around for most of the day until the evening and I went out and pulled up some weeds. Easier now the ground is wet.

I’ve my weekly shop to do and will email a penfriend I had as a child. We don’t correspond these days and I’ve no idea where she is in the world but it’s her birthday today.

I wish you all a good day, don’t forget your brolly if you are out and about ☔️🌺

Marydoll Fri 14-Jul-23 07:05:11

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it currently 13°C.
It's good to hear you sounding much more positive, Mick.
Have you tried a non alcoholic beer Mick, they are much improved nowadays? DH sometimes has a non alcoholic Guinness. when he is trying to be good,
When I worked in NHS finance many years ago, I paid the invoices for Guinness and Sweetheart Stout for post op patients. It helped to build them up.

Firstly, congratulations to Pittcity after reading her wonderful news. I hope all is well with mother and baby.💕

GM, so glad you got that permission. Huge sigh of relief.

I had yet another lengthy consultation yesterday with the GP, whom I saw three weeks ago. Some changes have been made to my medications, which he hopes will help and specialised blood tests are to be done next week to find out the extent of my heart failure. After that, hopefully he will chase up my much needed cardiology appointment.
Going by our discussion yesterday, I think he may have been a cardiologist in another life. He was matter of fact and rather blunt. 😉

DH is golfing and I have a much longed for empty . Because I am incarcerated at home and sorry for myself, I am rather grumpy and poor company at the moment! I am becoming institutionalised! 😉
All being well, DH is taking me to visit Babydoll after the golf and a much excited Dollie (I am also) is coming too. She thinks she will be pushing the pram, little does she know she will have to fight her papa for it. 🤣

Sending best wishes to all and thoughts with all those struggling. So much worrying news for som Gransnet pals.
Thinking of those who struggle and also keep a watching brief who take pleasure in reading this lovely thread.

Enjoy your day folks. GMBatty, felices vacaciones! 🍹🏖

Gala Fri 14-Jul-23 07:02:32

Good morning. Dull but dry here in Sefton...but for how long. Much precipitation is forecast.☔️
Zoom exercise class first thing then a day of paperwork for both of us. When that's finished we may walk up to a local restaurant/bar for one of their cocktails....but not if it's raining.
Take care all.

Mizuna Fri 14-Jul-23 06:59:11

Good morning from a torrentially wet Cornwall. My patio swing seat was awash. A ginormous Tesco lorry has just passed my window, causing a shadow, and Biffa are emptying Domino's bins across the road, while out the back the huge trees are swaying. I love the contrasts here. Urms, if you're reading, I used to enjoy picturing the trains coming and going opposite your flat. Thinking of you.

Today my zealous art student will be here all day doing whatever she fancies. I'll sit near her making an anklet I think. I usually potter with jewellery while she paints. She has discovered Phthalo Turquoise in my paint stache and is enjoying that! Since I finished the Creation paintings I can't see me painting again, so much else I want to do.

Gingster Fri 14-Jul-23 06:50:27

Good morning all and it’s dull here in Essex. Wind and rain forecast for today, but we do seem to miss it here. Being not that far from Wimbledon where they’ve had rain most days, we’ve had hardly any.

Dh and I had a lovely walk along the river yesterday with little pooch. Lots of swans and other wildlife to be seen. Very serene. We had a drink in the pub garden and came home to watch the ladies semi finals . Very exciting.

Yes Whitewave the A12 is dreadful. It’s our main route up to our seaside hideaway , so we shudder and shake most of the way there and back. They re surface small stretches now and then, but they really need to get in with it.

I’m dog walking with my old neighbour/friend this morning and then meeting up with our Friday friends for lunch time drink. One couple are away so there will be 7 of us.

I hope all poorlies are feeling a bit better today. 💐

Grammaretto Fri 14-Jul-23 06:49:57

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's raining I'm going to work this morning at the store.

I've reserved a table for an Italian meal tonight for my cousin, a friend and me.

I donated most of my rhubarb to the community store yesterday and several dresses to the Oxfam shop. where I picked up some good wool

You sound much more positive today Mick
You need to be so assertive gMattie but well done getting the flat sorted and exciting to have a designer .

I hope Marydoll had a better day.
Thinking of Urms, Kalu, Gingster and all who are struggling.

Ashcombe Fri 14-Jul-23 06:47:31

Good morning from a damp Torbay, which is disappointing as we are hoping to have a weekend at my static at Whiddon Down.

It’s good that you’re feeling more like normal eating, Mick. Let’s hope the beer is allowed soon!

Good news regarding your bathroom, grandMattie, but your plumber's caution is understandable.

That storm sounds scary, Juliee! What age group do you teach, I wonder?

One of the disadvantages of living in any holiday area is the volume of traffic at peak holiday seasons as several posters have described this morning. Locals here welcome the end of the school holidays!

Last night we had access to the stage for our rehearsal which was “interesting”! It resulted in the need to reblock some scenes.

Happy weekend, whatever the weather! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 14-Jul-23 06:26:02

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I will try again to get hold of my cleaner. She didn’t turn up on Wednesday and her phone goes straight to answerphone. OH and I might go out for lunch today but it might be too late to book anywhere. I have bits of admin to do. Have a good day everyone.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 14-Jul-23 06:20:56

Good morning from a dull and wet forecast South Downs.

Drive home was uneventful except a hold up and slow moving traffic which delayed our return for an hour.

I must say that I think the A12 is the worst road surface in the country in Essex. How on earth was it allowed to get to such a state? Not so bad once you get to Suffolk and north of Colchester. I think that they are making a start on it though.

Usual unpacking and washing today, then in between showers deadhead and tidy the garden.

Good to read that your diet is bucking up mick that will help I’m sure.

I have an easy sausage supper tonight.

Enjoy your day one and all.

karmalady Fri 14-Jul-23 06:10:06

Good morning, s somerset is very wet and will be all day, pouring in fact and it will be very windy too

Mick that is a very positive post, the body has an amazing capacity to get better

My loppers came so I lopped and my fast-growing crabapple looks much more balanced as I reached higher branches. IThe young tree was far too top heavy for the winds that we get here. The rain is nice for my nine new plants and they settled in well overnight.

Today, more knitting and one sleeve is almost finished, too wet to go out today but never mind

RosesandLilac Fri 14-Jul-23 06:09:05

Good morning from a wet village in south Gloucestershire, the rain is very welcome here!
I had a frustrating drive home yesterday, the A303 was at a standstill 4 miles from my turnoff, it took 90 minutes to drive that short distance. If I’d known I would have found a different route 🙄
Today I will pop to the post office to send a couple of small packages then tidy up my unpacking and art stuff.
Very little planned for the next few days so I will make the most of it, finishing a botanical water colour and looking forward to doing more.
I hope you all have a good day 🌹

Juliee Fri 14-Jul-23 06:02:20

Good morning, Mick from sunny Siberia!
Glad you are eating more and regularly too.

My day is quiet. I have finished my school admin and am about to meet a friend for tea. Then I will go to the gym. But it is so hot, that it is difficult to get motivated)

Last night was a tremendous thunderstorm with flash floods and hail the size of eggs! The storm was super scary and lasted 7 hours.

But today is sunny and hot with no signs of last night.

Have a great day!

grandMattie Fri 14-Jul-23 05:57:55

Good morning from Bristol, where we have gentle rain. I think today will be wet. Hope there’s no wind!
After doorstepping the warden on the dot of 9 am, about my bathroom, she told me she would telephone the management, plus she was seeing the surveyor in a meeting that very morning. In the late afternoon, she called me to say permission has been granted, paperwork to follow. Plumber is happy but not unnaturally wants it all in writing. My slot is safe. I have to confess it was a very anxious few days.
Had the usual dinner with DD and family. Nice food last night. They are veggies and sometimes the assortment of food is quite peculiar.
DD is coming over with her sister-i-l who is an architect and interior designer. She’ll help me with what furniture I need in the living room and extended hall.
I hopeMarydoll has a reasonable day, Urms, kalu , their families and the unnamed cope with today with fortitude.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩
