Good Morning Monday 17th July 2023

Where do cobwebs come from 😂. Dgd fed and walked to school so I decided to run the brush around the ceilings and clean the paintwork. Changed bedding, washed and hung out. 🤞 the showers stay away. Fortunately we’ve a small house. Dh currently doing the ironing. A fair division of work I think.
As a treat we’ll eat out tonight at a local pub/ restaurant ( fr the Ruth time in a row)
Glad Marydoll and Mick are improving. Thoughts with Urms, Kalu and all with worries.

Good morning all from a grey cool Angus coast where we're forecast sunshine and showers. The washing is almost ready to hang out, come what may 😬
Sorry I didn't manage to post yesterday but thread read in the evening. Belated happy birthday Ekwanimity - what a lovely birthday surprise that was. The very best kind.
After several weeks of 'quiet', this past one was a very busy weekend. Over to Glasgow to watch Dancing GD dance, which was of course brilliant 😉. This involved two train rides, taxis across Glasgow and back and a meal out. Almost too much excitement in an otherwise quiet existence! But it didn't end there. We got back to DD's, where I was staying the night, in time for DGD3 to finish her packing - she was off with five friends to Portugal and being picked up at 2.30am. It's their "we've left school!" celebration - 5 days in Lisbon planned around a Harry Styles concert. (All thoughts and imaginings in abeyance until they return on Thursday night). DD herself was then off at 7am to drive to the Lake District and bag another Wainwright (their 77th I think) with New Man - as you do on a wet and windy Sunday! I meanwhile had been contacted by late DH's niece from South Africa who was visiting a friend in a village not far from me (not far, that is, if I'm actually at home!!) and could we meet up. Well of course we could! There was something I had to do in Perth on my way home, plus I wanted to stock up on some M&S ready meals to try to coax myself back into eating, but I made it up into Aberdeenshire by 3pm to meet her and we had the most lovely catch-up. The last time I saw her she was 15 or 16, so 30 or 31 years ago! She's such a delightful person and I'm so glad I was able to make that effort.
And to round everything off, I was home in time to eat one of my little ready meals and watch the final set of Wimbledon!
And may I just say I was in bed and asleep by 10pm and didn't wake up until after 7.30 this morning.
I feel almost guilty telling of all that excitement when there's so much illness and tragedy elsewhere. My thoughts are still with those suffering in whatever way

Good morning from a bright W Kent. A bit stiff after the long sit for the tennis yesterday. Cleaning lady this morning, she whips round and sorts us out and then a drive this afternoon to a friend for tea. We usually meet in the morning so hope we can both stay awake. I think the speed awareness course has overworked on me as I don't feel half as confident as I did and find I am constantly checking the speed and driving at 28 mph. I expect the people running the course would be delighted.
Glad to hear of some health improvements and sorry to hear of other problems.

Mick your med is Imodium (having IBS) which I carry with me at all times. Good stuff.
Another here who couldn’t drive for weeks after a knee op - it drove me up the wall! How much I rely on four wheels!

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a grey, but dry at present, South Yorkshire. Couldn’t believe the amount of rain we had yesterday again. I was glad I had been able to get out and secure some of my taller plants in the morning but the garden looks battered. I made a cake in the afternoon, went three rounds, two submissions and a knockout with my bloomin’ laptop and narrowly stopped myself from throwing it through the window.
GS and his ma and pa phoned from Turkey at the start of their holiday. I hope they have a good one. They all need it.
Not sure what’s on the agenda for today apart from washing the floors and cleaning the fridge.

Currently fine but by the time the washing is ready to go out the threatened rain will be falling - again. Ah well, a first world problem.

Good to see slow progress reported by Mick and Marydoll though frustration is evident. Hope for a good day for everyone and thoughts to those for whom life is hard, especially Kalu and Urms.

Good morning all and it’s overcast here in Essex.

What a match yesterday. It was a shame someone had to lose! 🎾.
We gardened and cut down /trimmed hedges and bushes. We have a tiny garden here but it still needs looking after and work done on it.

Today I’m meeting my friend for lunch. Dd and her Dd were meant to join us but Dd has another hospital appointment so they will leave us to it. It will be a lovely long one, catching up on the last couple of months.

It’s my eldest dgd’s 21st birthday today but we won’t see her, as she’s still on placement for Uni. We’ll celebrate in September when she comes home. 💥✨. The dearest , kindest , gentlest girl I could wish for. ❤️. (nanna speaking) 😂.

Marydoll and Mick it’s good to hear things are improving health wise for you both..
Thoughts and prayers for your friends family MD. Life can be cruel at times.🙏.

Morning Mick and all....torrential rain here....my recently acquired 12month old cocker spaniel is sulking and on heat(makes walks difficult)...H asking me for the 100th time since 6.30 what day it is...Alzheimer's &dementia....I feel like screaming.
I read this thread every day and it puts my problems into perspective though....thinking about Urms not too far away from where I live...take care everyone...🌈

Good morning from a bright, breezy Cornwall. Wow, what a tennis final yesterday, I was exhausted just watching it! I had hoped to go to a local village show (where I used to live) today but there's little seating there and the crowds and my crutches won't mix, but God willing I'll get there next year with my new knee. Instead I'm off to my arty daughter-in-law's for coffee and then we'll amble to our favourite charity shop, where unfortunately the books are 10p, which means I'll buy some!

Ooh, two weeks ago I was in exactly those places Jacs7. It’s wonderful to read your post and ‘relive’ the joy.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Probably Waitrose and laundry today. OH is playing U3A croquet today. I hope the weather is sunny and dry as predicted. Last night I made a large chicken casserole with dumplings and a new pudding recipe - steamed chocolate and raspberry pudding. There was enough to have tonight as well! I have a new cookery book - Italian Bakery by Silver Spoon, and it’s brilliant. Have a good day. Glad to hear your meds are finally working MaryD! Great news that you’re driving again. I wasn’t allowed to drive for 6 weeks a few years ago after breaking my arm badly, and I felt bereft. Onwards and upwards.

Good morning everyone from north Norfolk where it is sunny and dry.

Yesterday’s visit to Wells next to the Sea was very pleasant; a bit blowy, but blew the cobwebs clean away! Walked along the Beach Path to a new Lifeboat visitor’s centre where there was a gleaming newly commissioned lifeboat to admire. In years gone by the lifeboats were pulled to the sea to be launched by horses; when the siren sounded for launching they would gallop to the gate of their field and jostle to be selected as those that were received an extra bucket of oats!

We then went to Holkham Hall where we spent the afternoon looking around the splendid house; it’s stuffed with fabulous tapestries and paintings by the likes of Rembrandt, van Dyke and Gainsborough. A lady we met said that she felt all opulized out and I understood what she meant!

We also collected our glass-blowing efforts and I am really pleased with my multi-coloured vase; looks very professional even if I say so myself. DH’s tumbler looks great as well.

Not sure what today will bring; DH is consulting the itinerary so a decision is imminent!

Good morning from north Manchester. I woke at 6.30 am to the unmistakable sound of very heavy rain. It’s still raining but not as torrential as it was. I’m putting off walking the dogs though the sky tells me whenever I leave the house, I’ll get drenched. That spaniel will take one look at her lead and the rain and return to her bed. Mr Lab won’t care about the rain, his enthusiasm for Going Out never diminishes

Good morning from another sunny Suffolk. We had no rain yesterday and if none during the day, the pots will need watering this evening.

I have a pile of papers to read today online for my meeting on Wednesday which is scheduled to last all morning. Sometimes these monthly meetings are all day which is quite tiring.

Good to hear that Mick and Marydoll are feeling a bit better. Hope that others will worries about their own health or that of family members find some comfort soon.

My birthday treat yesterday was DS1 arriving to take me out to lunch. I knew he was coming though at fairly short notice, it was a lovely surprise. We enjoyed a good lunch in town, the rain thankfully holding off though it was very windy. Afterwards, we strolled back to the car through the Cathedral grounds with the bells ringing gaily after a service for a retiring bishop (if I heard the local news right). He then had a long drive back home, having also visited friends elsewhere before me.
Today, the usual housework and laundry, the latter might even get outside for once, it's been too wet and/or windy for ages for that.

That poor family indeed, Marydoll, it's simply dreadful, what they are enduring.
