If the email address looks like gobbledegook …it is a scam

Thank you Oopsadaisy. I didn’t know that. I have just tried it out. I will do that in future.

I’m with opsadaisy on this , always check email addresses if not sure as that will tell you if it’s genuine or not . I’ve never personally had email from Facebook , I’ve never heard of it ?
Worth Signing up to Which ? Scams they send regular emails saying of all the latest scams and where to report scams to .
Glad that you’re on the ball as scammers are becoming quite the norm these days .

Did you click on the senders name on the email? This will tell you where it came from.
TBH I’ve never received an email from Facebook, but good to know you were on the ball.

I've just had a very clever scam email. It looked just like a Facebook email and told me that to continue changing my password I should enter the given six digit number or, if I hadn't tried to change my password, I should click the link.

Ever cautious I went to the Facebook page and changed my password. I received an email advising me that my password had changed and asking if it was me. No six digit number.

The emails are virtually identical in format. It's a really clever facsimile. A lot of people are going to fall for this and give access to their account or worse.
