On a normal day, without any particular celebrations or meetings , what would be your best time of day ?
I love the hours after the evening meal, early and mid evening when I settle down with a glass of wine, pussy cats, husband and the telly. This is when the days are short and it gets dark early. Bliss. I am not a morning person !

Early morning for me. Just before the mahem of the day unfolds. Listening to the dawn chorus or even hearing rainfall is a joy to me.

I agree with you Tanith

From 5am in the morning when anything is possible till about 9am when reality has shown itself

😂 I totally get this!

I love early mornings when I open my eyes, get out of bed and go downstairs with the dog and cats to start the day.
Because I’m up at 5ish I’m tired in the evenings and another good time is ‘getting horizontal’ in bed at 9.

Grandma70s

The moment I get into bed, which is always much earlier than the time I want to sleep. Just being in bed - by myself! - and watching television or reading.

Same here except it’s reading, knitting, vlogs, podcasts. Sometimes with the cat.

The time I finish work.

Early evening for me around 5-6pm. Dinner in the oven or at least prepared and I sit down with a glass of wine and some nibbles.

In my recliner after the evening meal with a throw, hot chocolate, book, IPad, TV and the cat. It’s not the same when the evenings are light.
This thread shows up the owls and the larks. I’m like a bear with a sore head in the morning (don’t drink either) and my lark MIL would be up whistling and doing at the crack of sparrows.

Any time when someone or other doesn't need me lol Mostly after the dishes have been cleared away after the evening meal, I've showered and in my pj's.

Lots of bright little moments in the day! I love the early morning (wake up at 5/6am) listening to TV news while reading the newspaper on my iPad. I enjoy the first ( of many) cups of coffee mid morning and a sneaky peek at the internet if I’m home. I like my browsing round the shops times on the days I go into town, or even round the pretty little area of it in which I live. I look forward to settling down on the sofa early evening to watch TV and read (TV is mostly too dire these days for me to give it my full attention!). I love to snuggle up in bed with TV and book and lull myself to sleep with these! It’s usually late as I am a night AND morning person (ie not a good sleeper!). All give a tinge of luxury to a day that’s often busy with children/grandchildren and volunteering.

Now retired afternoons ! Never been a morning person and now it seems not a night owl either 😂😂

Afternoons at the weekend, evenings through the week, never, ever have liked mornings

Late afternoon - tea and biscuits ( though I've cut right down ) and some garden pottering ...

I collect my thoughts whilst in the garden .

Half past ten in the morning - housework jobs done and we have half-past-tens-es coffee and a biscuit and try to answer the questions on the radio 2 pop quiz (some hope!!!).

I love the evening. After dinner I sit with my feet up across the settee and watch all my favourite t.v programmes if I manage to stay awake.

Any time I am in bed and listening to an audio book . I love my bed ,there it does not matter what you are wearing , how many new wrinkles you have and any hair do will be fine and it does not matter if you have put on a few extra pounds. If I waken too early to get up I just listen to my latest book . Used to listen to the radio but it is too depressing now and repetitive .

first thing in the morning when I wake up, whizz downstairs, make a big mug of lemon tea and sit quietly while I drink it checking emails and then go for a walk, garden or do something physically active.

SueDonim Sat 29-Jul-23 13:16:34

Later in the evening, when I know there’ll be no phone calls or knocks at the door and everything is quiet. I think it stems from when my four children were young and it was the only time of day I’d get any peace!

After lunch cuppa, chocolate and a snooze in the conservatory.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sat 29-Jul-23 13:11:11

It's probably early evening when the few chores I bother to do have actually been completed and I'm sitting down in front of the telly ready for my evening entertainment. Cup of tea in hand, knitting on my lap.

sukie Sat 29-Jul-23 13:03:06

I'm just the same as aonk, savor just the one cup first thing in the morning. It brews as I open the blinds and watch the birds in the garden then I sip while having a quick catch up of the news, email and gransnet of course. It's a bit of a golden hour.

aonk Sat 29-Jul-23 11:48:50

For me it’s morning coffee. I only have one cup each day as I can’t cope with too much caffeine. I enjoy it whether I’m alone or with someone, at home or out in a cafe.

Blossoming Sat 29-Jul-23 11:44:38

Early morning, when MrB brings me my morning tea and I sit propped up on pillows listening to the birdsong.

Aveline Sat 29-Jul-23 10:45:02

I love the early mornings too. Just me, the cats, good coffee and a book. Bliss. Until the rest of the household gets up.
