Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people, fingers crossed 🤞 this pist will behave itself. Recently when I click onto Soop's Kitchen on my phone, the pages jump about a bit, not sure what's happening. Great to catch up on all your weekend news, and lovely to see Urms and Baggs. 👋 👋

So sorry to hear about your exercise bike Soop, hopefully you can get something more suitable. DH bought one recently, he can't walk very far but he can manage a wee while on the bike if he is not too short of breath with his COPD.
Good luck to Scapa, Brook and Grandmabatty, and all Grans with childcare this week. Brook, I remember DGS1 and DGD winding each other up, keeping the peace was tricky at times. Grandmabatty, do your wee boys play well together?
I hope MrC's appointment goes well today. DH has had his pre assessment for ' polyp removal, he's been waiting since before the pandemic!

Blossoming, MrB is a star 🌟, your meal sounds great!

Ladyleftfieldlover, your strange dinner sounds very tasty too, I'm always impressed by your desserts. My standby is Eton Mess, I'm really more of a cheeseboard person.

SueD and Jaxjacky, glad to hear your results are fine. I've just got my appointment in for breast screening.

We had a great day out with DS1, DDIL1, GS1 and DGD on Saturday at the Ayr Festival of Flight. We saw spitfires, typhoon, gazelles ( helicopters flying in formation) and the Red Arrows were a magnificent finale! The weather was warm, if a bit cloudy, but the rain stayed away until later in the evening.
I'll try to attach some photos, but this is where everything disappeared on previous attempts ...🤞🤞🤞

brook2704 Sun 10-Sept-23 20:09:39

Crossed posts Scapa well done with looking after your two DGC all weekend, hope you get a very well deserved rest tomorrow!

brook2704 Sun 10-Sept-23 20:07:11

Oh my goodness Jax a referee whistle definitely needed and a couple of red cards too. I’ve just packed them off to bed, they just wind each other up so much it’s exhausting! I don’t think they’ll be asleep for a while but they can have some quiet time reading whilst I try to recover. I wish they were being sociable and easygoing Blossoming unfortunately they’re not words that I could possibly use to describe them tonight - hopefully tomorrow. It is lovely to see them though so I’ll take the rough with the smooth!
Good to see you grannmarie, hope the posting gremlins disappear
I’m a fan of the M&S curries too, we usually get the Butter Chicken one but will try the tikka next time.
Your meal sounds delicious llfl as always, you sound such a really good cook
Hoping tomorrows appt for Mr Corner goes well corner, take care x

Scapa1 Sun 10-Sept-23 19:56:30

Been a full on weekend with the two DGd’s here. They have been good with just a little bit of arguing on occasion. School tomorrow so I think grandad and I will collapse in a heap, it has been lovely having them though and getting all their chat. Hopefully parents flight will be on time and not delayed. It is amazing how the amount of dishes used increases with two extra people I guess we have just got out of that. Rain here but no thunderstorms yet!

Blossoming Sun 10-Sept-23 19:46:51

Lovely to see you Grannmarie, hope the posting problem rights itself soon.

Grannmarie Sun 10-Sept-23 19:31:10

Good evening all, I'm having problems trying to keep in touch recently. I've written a few posts and tried to attach photos, but they've all disappeared 😭. So I'll say, TOYA, NNGB for the moment.

Blossoming Sun 10-Sept-23 19:15:10

Good evening Kitcheners. It’s very hot and sultry here, no sign of the promised rain and thunder so far. Mr.B and I have had a lovely lazy day keeping cool in the upstairs sitting room. Mr.B made a lovely dinner of grilled pork with green beans and cabbage followed by Greek yoghurt for pudding. Now full of lovely food and ready to snooze (again!).

Hope your son is not too poorly Corner.

Hope the GC are being sociable and easygoing Brook and GrandmaB. It must be lovely to see so much of them, albeit tiring for you.

Have a peaceful evening all, TOYA.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 10-Sept-23 18:43:43

Hello kitchen people.
Church this morning - the church in the Benefice which has bats. Therefore a quick examination of the pew is advised before sitting down. It rained when I drove back home but not enough to stop OH cutting the lawns. I spent most of the afternoon reading the papers. We’re having a strange dinner, which is in the oven right now. Mac n cheese with sausages and peas followed by strawberry crumble and ice cream. I have vanilla, clotted cream and lemon in the freezer. OH is watching rugby again and I will watch the Antiques Road Show.
Have a lovely evening.

Grandmabatty Sun 10-Sept-23 18:22:13

Soop I'm really not super human! Jaxjacky it's pouring rain here. A definite cloud burst without the thunder and lightning which is badly needed in my opinion.

Jaxjacky Sun 10-Sept-23 18:17:09

Hi all from a muggy S Hampshire, we had soft rain for a good two hours earlier today, not forecast, we could do with a storm.
A busy 24 hours brook referee whistle at the ready?
And *Grandmabatty powers on! I need some of your batteries please.
Good luck with the GP tomorrow corner and I hope your son is negative soon.
Apart from picking a lot of produce from the garden (lots just given away in the local) and a rather damp walk earlier, not a lot has been done. Sunday is always a leisurely day, a hangover from work, which MrJ still does p/t, but no specific days.
A chicken crown for dinner with veg and new potatoes, any easy meal.
Enjoy your evenings.
👋👋Urms x

SueDonim My husband's favourite Indian ready meal is M&S Tikka. He always treats himself to one on Sunday evenings. I shall have salmon, oat biscuits, nuts and dates. Sundays are are free and easy with minimum of washing up. Suits me fine. Later, it's G&T for me and a dram or two for Mr Soop. grin

Grandmabatty^ is, in my humble opinion, *super human. wink

TOYA. I shall be with you again tomorrow. Take good care of yourselves. smile moon

soop Sun 10-Sept-23 17:17:17

Thank you, Blossoming for you kind advice. I shall keep you updated.

It is muggy and I am sure that I can hear distant rumbles of thunder. The autumnal weather of yesteryear was my favourite season. Now, it appears, we need to adapt to weather that is given to extremes.

cornergran Sun 10-Sept-23 16:45:41

Hello Everyone. All quiet here. No more dramas. Mr C seems to have more energy, there’s a review appointment with a GP tomorrow, see what she thinks.

Unexpectedly quiet afternoon as our son has tested covid positive and so of course won’t visit. He feels fine and only tested to protect us. We’re disappointed but more concerned for him as he lives alone. Just a faint line, he’s not sure if that means covid is coming or going, doesn’t feel at all unwell. We’ll see

Good luck brook, sounds as if challenges ahead tomorrow.

Pleased to read some positives from people. I’m wondering how kittys kitchen is going. Good to see Dixon urms. Your curry sounds good ladylfl. Take it steady soop, sounds as if that exercise bike was way too big for you.

Rain and a very loud, dramatic storm here this morning. The rain was most welcome, especially as when I looked early morning there was none forecast. Think I’ll bring some seaweed home from the beach. 😂. Still a lot of Sahara dust about sadly, all a bit smeary. Too warm again now

Hope everyone has had a decent weekend. Enjoy your Sunday evenings.

Grandmabatty Sun 10-Sept-23 16:43:22

Brook sympathies here. I have both boys all day tomorrow - September weekend holiday - and dd has an early start. So up at five it is. 24° here, humid and cloudy. I really hope for thunderstorms to clear the air. I have done some weeding, ironing and delivering birthday presents. I'm watching columbo before I strip a roast chicken for tomorrow's dinner. Salmon salad again tonight. Take care all

brook2704 Sun 10-Sept-23 16:11:58

Good afternoon to all kitchen pals. It’s definitely much cooler here today, the shorts and sleeveless tops are all in the washing basket and sandals put away
I thought I was going to have a quiet day but I’d forgotten that the DGC are off both school tomorrow and Tuesday for in service days. So I’m just having 5 mins relax before they’re dropped off for a sleepover until tomorrow teatime - wish me luck They’re usually very good on their own but when they both come to stay together they’re double hard work and more besides
Hoping everyone is enjoying Sunday, TOYA

It’s scary to open that envelope but a relief to read the verdict, Jaxjacky. I’m glad yours was ok, too.

Baggs Sat 09-Sept-23 20:08:01

Belated congratulations on your anniversary, Urms. Gorgeous photo of you on your wedding day 💕

Urmstongran Sat 09-Sept-23 19:46:23

‘Evening All’

It’s been roasting hot here in south Manchester this afternoon but the sun went down an hour ago and we actually have a properly cool breeze now. I’d forgotten what they were like! I’m the most comfortable I’ve been for several nights and we won’t need the fan on, just the windows open to sleep I think.

Hurrah! 😊

I even think it might RAIN tonight .....

Jaxjacky Sat 09-Sept-23 19:10:03

Sorry Suedonim I forgot to say, a good result for you, I too had the same earlier this year from ‘the envelope’.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 09-Sept-23 19:06:39

Hello Kitchen people. I’m exhausted and hot and I haven’t done anything all day except an hour’s worth of ironing and finish a book on the history of Hampton Court Palace. OH is cooking chicken curry for dinner. A hot curry is perfect in this weather. Later on he will watch the rugby on his headphones on his laptop and I’ll watch something else on the television, also using headphones. At least we’ll be in the same room. Have a good evening everyone. Today, apparently, was the hottest day of the year.

SueDonim Sat 09-Sept-23 18:58:04

I’ve had to have a lie down in a darkened room after reading your post, GMbatty! I don’t think I could have done all that when I was young, let alone nowadays. grin

The offer of sourdough starter is always there, Brook (and anyone else) provided I don’t kill it off. It survives on benign neglect. I leave it in the fridge for weeks and weeks at a time then suddenly think ‘Oh no, I haven’t fed it, it will be dead of starvation by now,’ but it always comes back to life.

Is Neine on her holidays, I wonder?

I hate having to return things, Soop but sometimes needs must. I hope you can find something better suited to you.

It’s been sultry and mostly overcast today and a few degrees cooler than yesterday. It was hot overnight, though. We met up with dd and the little ones for coffee this afternoon, then did a bit of shopping in Aldi. When we were back home I did some work in the garden, mainly potting up winter pansies and violas and tidying some other containers and general tasks while Dh put screen wash into his car and checked the tyres on mine.

We’re indulging in an M&S Indian ready meal tonight then I’ll be doing some internet sleuthing for curtain fabric and stage containers. Exciting! grin

TOYA. Xx

Jaxjacky Sat 09-Sept-23 18:27:17

Hi all, 29 here now, it’s slowly cooling down, you both make me feel guilty as I’ve done very little today. I walked this morning and read some of the paper, the humidity does not agree with me. Then watched the rugby.
I’ve informed MrJ dinner will be later than usual 🙂.
Enjoy your evening everyone.

brook2704 Sat 09-Sept-23 18:06:53

Errr grandmabatty you’re calling me energetic but what about you!! You’ve had a much busier day than me today 😀 x
