I’ll join in the group hug please 🤗

soop Wed 30-Aug-23 15:20:02

A group hug is booked for this afternoon. Thinking of you all. smile

annsixty Wed 30-Aug-23 10:48:20

P.S, rather too enthusiastically as I have just rescued a large cantilevered sun shade from going in.
I am about to put old trainers on to go out and supervise!,

annsixty Wed 30-Aug-23 10:42:38

Good morning all.
The rain has temporarily halted and I hope it lasts a bit longer.
I have 2 young boys here clearing my garden of tons of rubbish.
I thought they were too young and they aren’t very big but one of the dads came and assesssed the job and they agreed they could do it.
The father said he would come round and finish any heavy lifting they couldn’t do.
They wanted some pocket money before going back to school and as I am paying well over minimum wage they are going at it very enthusiastically.
If they want to jet wash when they have filled the skip I shall be delighted.
Very overcast now but I hope for another hour at least.

My GD and I are going to an Italian restaurant tonight with her friend and friend’s mum, sister and sister’s partner to celebrate friend’s birthday.
I am not keen on weeknight outings but the table is booked for 6:30 and everyone but me has work tomorrow so it won’t be a late one.
I can’t do those anymore.

I hope anyone on holiday is enjoying and a very one else has the best day they can.

Yiayia4 Tue 29-Aug-23 20:32:22

Thank you all, you’ve been a great support. We are both relieved but shattered and hope for once, for a good nights sleep.

Scapa1 Tue 29-Aug-23 20:27:27

Good news Yia you will soon be enjoying your new home. Two loads of washing done and dried and food shopping done after our holiday. A visit to practice nurse for a blood pressure check which was lower than 4weeks ago not surprising after our lovely time away. DD came in on the way home from her work I would like to think it was because she was pleased we were home but more likely it was to see what we had brought back for her. 🤣
Hope the home made soups have turned out well. I love home made soup but usually only make it during winter which the way the weather is going means starting anytime now! Early night I think.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 29-Aug-23 19:33:30

That’s very good news Yia!
I’ve just finished eating a scrumptious prawn curry. I found the recipe in a cookery book I bought in Sydney airport the other day.
I popped round to my friend’s house on her 80th birthday. She is unable have visitors at the moment because of the dreadful time she’s having with cancer. The tumour is pressing on her spine. Her son told me she was in pain this morning. So I handed over a card and present and that was that.
Our gardener came today and spent two hours pruning in the back garden. She will come tomorrow and do a bit more.
Have a good evening.

brook2704 Tue 29-Aug-23 19:03:21

I hope you enjoy your new exercise bike soop happy cycling 🚴‍♀️
I’m very impressed with your spider removal skills Jax, the best I can manage is to put a jar over it until DH puts it outside. We’ve got the daddy long legs here too Sue, if I’m reading in bed with the light on and window open theres always one that comes in to say hello

brook2704 Tue 29-Aug-23 18:56:39

So pleased for you Yia a big congratulations, the 12th September will soon be here 😀

Jaxjacky Tue 29-Aug-23 18:38:41

That’s brilliant news Yia very pleased for you.
What a smashing day out Grannmarie, as you say, perfect.
Sensible Blossoming it’s so miserable here, drizzle, gloomy and with a chill, August, pah! Soup is appealing, I’d like some to magically appear.
Well done ann you’re a dab hand now.
I’m chief spider remover soop pick them up and deposit them outside, MrJ is not so keen.

annsixty Tue 29-Aug-23 18:04:41

Very good news Yia hope all goes ahead trouble free now.
I managed 45 mins on my scooter today between the showers, it is a nice evening now with sun.
The skip was delivered this morning and the clearing commences tomorrow.
Have the best evening you can everyone.

SueDonim Tue 29-Aug-23 17:46:29

I’m so pleased for you, Yia! 🏡

That’s a very unusual lighthouse, Granmarie.

Urgh to sp*ders. I hate them. At the moment we have many daddy long legs, the flying ones. Funnily enough I can cope with them better than Dh can, they give him the heebie-jeebies. It seems that our lawn is infested with leather jackets though that has meant some birds inviting themselves in to enjoy the feast. They’re very welcome!

Blossoming Tue 29-Aug-23 17:33:00

Thanks Grannmarie those look interesting.

Grandmabatty Tue 29-Aug-23 17:31:18

The panel in the back door has a redundant cat flap already. Duh. It sounded like I was putting one in.

Grandmabatty Tue 29-Aug-23 17:30:07

Boys have been delivered back home. Grandma is shattered today as I've been awake since five. I also have developed a sore throat which is very painful and annoying. Yiayia that is excellent news. I'm so happy for you both. Grannmarie I love pea and ham soup, especially if it's from a chicken ( advert showing my age) Blossoming* I also like chicken soup. It's very soothing on the innards. Soop I don't hate spiders but would prefer them to be elsewhere. I can manage to get rid of them which is just as well as I live alone and DD is terrified. Brook you are a very fit lady.
The man came and measured up for a new front door and to replace the panel in the back door with a redundant broken cat flap. Then my aunt popped in while dgs2 was napping. We had a nice blether. I'm now going to lie on the couch for half an hour before making chicken curry and tidying up the kitchen. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Grannmarie Tue 29-Aug-23 15:57:10

Enjoy your exercise cycle, Soop, good for you! DH bought one recently when his walking became more limited, it certainly keeps the blood flowing!

Grannmarie Tue 29-Aug-23 15:54:04

Hi, Blossoming, I'll try to attach a wee screenshot of some titles...

Blossoming Tue 29-Aug-23 15:49:07

That’s awesome Yia so pleased for you.

More soup making here, chicken soup for tonight. I’m taking it easy on my stomach, no heavy or spicy foods. I want to give any inflammation time to settle. I love hot spicy foods but if I have to sacrifice them for a pain free tum then out they go!

I haven’t read those Granmarie I’ll look them up.

I just ignore spiders Soop, but I wish they wouldn’t hide their cobwebs in hard to reach corners! It looks like I never dust.

The weather has been grotty today, definitely autumn now.

cornergran Tue 29-Aug-23 15:42:14

So pleased for you yia. Celebration time.

soop Tue 29-Aug-23 15:36:08

Yia CONGRATULATIONS! flowers

soop Tue 29-Aug-23 15:35:24

Good afternoon, dear Kitcheners. Haven't you lovely lot been busy!

I do not climb into our loft. My knees would scream blue murder. I have just this minute treated myself to an exercise bike "for seniors" My previous, heavy weight model was gifted to a pal. This model has extremely good feedback. If it isn't suitable, it can be returned free of charge.

I understand that some of you have been feeling under the weather. Our neighbour is still testing positive for Covid. Another friend is recovering from a horrible stomach bug. Best wishes to those of you are making a recovery. Rest and ignore the housework.

It's spider time. I have a phobia. Have ordered chestnut oil spray that apparently deters the creatures coming indoors. We use the glass and card method of removal. Well, Mr Soop does (while I hide away). I was about to go to bed recently and, to my horror, there was a very large, black beastie on the wall behind the headboard. He was encouraged to go for a stroll. hmm

It's an afternoon for dashing away with the smoothing iron. Keeps me out of mischief. wink

Until tomorrow...smile moon

Brilliant news, YiaYia, time to celebrate 🎉 🥂

Grannmarie Tue 29-Aug-23 15:28:37

Cornergran, I do hope that you and your DH can manage your seaside trip at the weekend, the fresh sea air and seeing your wee Typhoon and family will do you both a power of good.
SueD, good to see you back in the kitchen, you've been busy! I hope your wee one's sore finger heals soon.
YiaYia, your DS1's party sounds like a great success. Good luck to the happy couple for the romantic cruise proposal! 💕🤞
Nannytopsy, I hope you and your DH are feeling a bit better now. Good luck with the cake!
Blossoming, have you read Colleen McCulloch's Roman empire novels? I think she wrote them after The Thornbirds, I've always meant to give them a try. 8m glad you're feeling better now.
Brook, sounds like you are back in your busy routine! I went to Aquafit today, first time since I injured my knee some months ago. I was quite pleased with what I could manage, no jumping of course!

Scapa, glad you're home safe. You'll have wonderful memories of your Orkney holiday.

Grandmabatty, I'm making soup too, it's pea ham. I can enjoy soup any time of year, I'll leave some in the kitchen with lots of crusty bread ( my downfall)!

Take care, TOYA
