Good to hear you’re safely home llfl hope you get a bit of a rest now and recover before getting ready for the next wedding 💒
Another lovely day here, we were out walking again today, the sun was shining, the birds singing and the sand was soft and golden. I think I’ve definitely found my favourite get away from it all place, certainly a different much slower lifestyle here compared to home, and that’s pretty laid back anyhow. I grew up and spent the first 40 years or so of my life in busy Manchester but the older I get the more I enjoy a much quieter pace of life
Soop hoping neither of you catch covid from your visiting neighbour, I hope he’s doing ok though and fingers crossed you’ve both been lucky and don’t succumb
Good to hear you’re improving a bit Blossoming, take care x

Blossoming Wed 23-Aug-23 19:46:52

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. It has been a pottering sort of day, we have had non stop drizzle so got on with a few things indoors. My neck and shoulder are improving thank you Grannmarie, the exercises are working. I have to pick up my repeat prescriptions from the pharmacy tomorrow so I will ask the pharmacist for a small box of CoCodamol. I can’t take aspirin or paracetamol or ibuprofen so keep some CoCodamol by me for emergencies. I have foolishly allowed them to run out!

Glad you’re enjoying your freedom machine AnnSixty, such a shame about your friend. Hope you and the Soops remain Covid free.

Glad you’re home safe LadyLFL.

BladeAnnie my elderly Burmese always used to get a generous share of my fish too! I still miss him after all those years. When I first came home from rehab he used to lie on the floor beside me and help with my physio exercises.

Goodnight, TOYA x

Jaxjacky Wed 23-Aug-23 18:57:56

Welcome home llfl and thank you for your trip reports, I’m not surprised you’re tired, it’ll take a couple of days to recover.
Hope you got out ann it’s been a lovely day here again, tomorrow it’s all change.
Fortunately I don’t iron, it’s MrJ’s numerous shirts that need ironing and he does it, body heat gets rid of any creases in my clothes🙂.
Library today, local shops for bits, some garden pruning and the hanging baskets/tubs are showing signs of early autumn.
Have a pleasant evening.

BladeAnnie Wed 23-Aug-23 18:50:36

Evening dear kitcheners - another rushing in to say hello 👋 anf rushing back out again. Mr BA has taken DGD home and is collecting fish and chips on the way back. I'm so sad Duncan is not here to share my fish - he used to love ❤️ that. We've had lovely day together - library this morning then crafting some wooden spoon people this afternoon 😀. jaxjacky what a lovely smile your DGD has 😃. Hope you all have a very pleasant evening. TOYA 🌼

Hello kitchen people. I’m back - and posting at the right time of day. I am sooo tired I think I’ll probably fall asleep in a little while. My trip was great and I’ll be seeing a fair few of those friends and relatives again at the end of September for number two niece’s wedding in France.

Grannmarie Wed 23-Aug-23 16:50:29

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰 Soop, I do hope that you and MrSoop manage to avoid catching Covid, also hope that your neighbour is OK.

Jaxjacky, what a beautiful smile Imogen has, well done to her for persevering with her braces. DGS1, aged 16, still has his. When my DS2 had his braces many years, ago, his younger brother called him Tingrin, so much for brotherly love! 🤣

Brook and Scapa, your holidays sound wonderful, thank you for the descriptions and photos. Enjoy every minute!

Blossoming, I hope your neck and shoulder pain has eased a bit today, you are very stoical, and practical too with your exercises.

Annsixty, I understand your concerns about your friend's behaviour, maybe another reason to decline any invitations to go away together at the moment? Enjoy your scooter trip to the park, its good to get out and about.

Grandmabatty and BladeAnnie, you've both been very active with the wee ones, and your Mums, time to recharge your batteries.

Mamaa, hello 👋, welcome to Soop's friendly kitchen! I hope everything goes well for your DH'S OHS, look after yourself too!

I'm having a wee rest after spending the afternoon weeding and tidying in the garden, washing has dried so I'll join Soop in some 'ironing therapy' 🤣 in front of A Place in the Sun. ☀

TOYA

annsixty Wed 23-Aug-23 16:41:45

soop my neighbour has also had Covid but she was out for the first time yesterday.
It certainly hasn’t gone away.
I hope neither of you succumbs.

soop Wed 23-Aug-23 14:45:58

Our neighbour phoned to say that he had tested positive for Covid. He was here having coffee with us yesterday.

I am about to indulge in some ironing therapy.

Nothing mind-blowing planned for today. We'll be visiting a pal for coffee tomorrow. Friday afternoon...hair trim. And then, it's the beginning of yet another weekend. How time flies. wink

annsixty Wed 23-Aug-23 11:20:19

Good morning all from an overcast but dry Stockport.
We have had rain overnight and it is forecast for today.

For anyone who remembers me posting a week or so ago about my friend’s uncharacteristic behaviour, it happened again yesterday, I can’t say much obviously but it was enough to first annoy me then concern me.
She was away last week for a few days with her D so I wonder if she noticed anything.
She wouldn’t say if she did neither would her GD they “don’t have any problems” in their family thankyou.

I am waiting for a Sainsbury’s delivery at lunchtime and then, weather permitting, I shall be off to the park on my scooter.
I am getting to enjoy it and chat to the dog walkers,
Lots of children about just now but I think they will be back to school after the bank holiday.

So sorry to hear of poor health amongst our kitcheners, part of ageing sadly.
Having said that I am pleased the holidaymakers are getting out and about and enjoying their break.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Scapa1 Wed 23-Aug-23 10:22:36

Jaxjacky well worth the suffering for such a lovely smile.

Grandmabatty Wed 23-Aug-23 08:02:01

Jaxjacky what a beautiful smile from a lovely girl.

mamaa Tue 22-Aug-23 22:55:53

Have been away with the caravan but had a rubbish signal. Now we’re back I am just catching up on all your doings. Urms couldn’t have put it better myself re how life can change in an instant.
This time last year my husband was unexpectedly having great difficulty breathing etc so much so we ended up in A+E last August Bank holiday Sunday.
Fast forward to now and we will eventually see the consultant surgeon this Friday re discussing his forthcoming OHS to to replace his aortic valve, which we only got to know was faulty in April this year after a long awaited MRI.
Our lives have been on hold this last 12 months, just managing a few days away locally when DH is up to it.
Until this Fridays meeting we’ve no idea what is actually going to happen, or when the op might take place and what his eventual prognosis will be.
Like they say, getting older isn’t for the faint hearted…is it?
On a more positive note, it’s been very sunny and warm here in East Suffolk x

brook2704 Tue 22-Aug-23 21:06:32

What a beautiful smile Imogen has got Jax - no wonder she’s pleased, it’s just perfect!
Hoping your neck pain eases a bit soon Blossoming take care
Beautiful photos scapa and a very talented builder too
We’ve had another very enjoyable day here, a bit cloudy but it stayed dry. A walk along the beautiful sandy Luskentyre beach, a walk to a lighthouse and a walk to an eagle observatory. We saw nothing at the eagle observatory but as soon as we’d got back in the car and about to leave, one swooped down overhead and we got to see it clearly, just for a few seconds though.
Sounds like a really good night out grannmarie, pleased you enjoyed it, especially the posh lounge
BA and grandmabatty enjoy spending time with the DGC, the best thing ever ❤️

Scapa1 Tue 22-Aug-23 20:31:45

The photos.

Scapa1 Tue 22-Aug-23 20:28:41

Evening from Orkney. This is how a builder near Kirkwall spent lockdown, he used the old fashioned method of dry stane dykeing to construct first of all the old truck and then has carried on making a beautiful display of two traditional straw backed Orkney chairs and if you look closely between them there is an Orkney cog traditionally made of wood and used to contain booze at an Orkney wedding. He is now working on a Flintstone car! I have an original Orkney chair at home and also two Orkney cogs. Hope everyone else on holiday is having a good time and weather is good to you. Some lovely photos.

Blossoming Tue 22-Aug-23 20:10:40

Good everyone all, a very quick visit from me as the nerve pain in my neck and shoulder has flared up. I’m sat here in a neck brace and looking at the screen and typing is very difficult. I’m not really an invalid, honest! A few days of exercises prescribed by my neurophysio, no lifting bending or stretching and it will ne fine.

Goodnight all, sleep tight xx

Jaxjacky Tue 22-Aug-23 19:07:11

Hi all, sounds like a fun evening Grannmarie and in the posh bit!
Will and POA done here soop but they need tweaking after five years or so, note to self, get on with it.
Definitely wine Grandmabatty I imagine a prepared meal is most welcome.
Quiz was fun, two new teams, so 50+ in our local on a Monday evening, not bad.
We’ve just met my daughter and the children in said pub for a celebratory drink, Imogen has had her braces off after three and a half long years, she’s ecstatic. Ten days before her 16th, couldn’t be better, the NHS has done well.
You sound harried BA and rather despondent, take a breath, here’s hoping the situation improves.
It’s been glorious today, more tomorrow.
Enjoy your evening.

BladeAnnie Tue 22-Aug-23 18:42:42

Hello dear kitcheners - I'm quickly rushing in and out to send hugs to everyone going through difficult times. I'm spreading myself far too thinly between gorgeous grandchildren ❤️ and a most ungrateful mother 😢. Ah well such is life - smile and carry on 😀

Grandmabatty Tue 22-Aug-23 17:54:21

Good evening Kitcheners. Boys delivered home, house semi tidied up and dinner is on. Dd gave me chicken curry as she had made loads so I'm having that instead of ham salad. We had a much better day today. Dgs2 was sunny. I walked the legs of him though! We went to the park, walked all round it, fed the ducks, splashed in puddles, played in the play park then home where we walked to the swings, played in the garden and went for more puddle splashing. He had a decent nap and was just up in time to pick up his big brother. Lots of cuddles today. Tonight is a quiet one. I may crack open a bottle of wine. I hope the holiday makers are having fun. Soop it's a really good idea to get affairs in order. I keep meaning to do that. Grannmarie that sounds like a lovely night out. I'm a-laying on the couch at the moment, recovering from a busy two days. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Grannmarie Tue 22-Aug-23 15:11:40

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. I've lots of kitchen news to catch up on! I'll always be grateful that I found this special place and friendly people, thank you so much Soop.❤️
You and Mr Soop are very wise to make your plans well in advance. I've mentally picked my hymns and readings but I've nothing written down, I wish I could find the frame of mind to make the necessary decisions and get things organised.

Stunning photos, Brook and Scapa. Enjoy your holidays! Memories of a special visit to Orkney when I retired. I loved the Italian Chapel and Skara Brae.

Last night I went with friends to see 42nd Street in Glasgow. We were thoroughly entertained, what a super show. The performers were very talented, excellent singing and dancing, plus stunning sets and costumes. We had a hospitality package in the posh lounge, a very pleasant evening altogether.

Lovely family, YiaYia, you must be very proud. I hope things are progressing well for your move.🤞

Grandmabatty, you are amazing, caring for two lively wee boys, and attending your Mum, remember to look after yourself too. Enjoy your quiet time.

Annsixty, I think I know what you mean. I have a close childhood friend who I see regularly, but I would not go on holiday with her again after previous experiences. Some people are best enjoyed in small doses.🤣

Well done to you too, Cornergran, you are doing a grand job nursing MrC. How are the synchronised naps going?😴😴

Nannytopsy, you are very busy with grandchildren and granddogs, enjoy your family time.

Hello 👋 Urms, how nice to see you popping into the Kitchen. Thinking of you, MrUrms and all the family. I say a wee prayer for you all every day. 💕🙏

Thinking of SueD, and all with worries, illness or sorrow.

Hello to everyone I haven't mentioned this time, enjoy holidays, meet ups, family times. TOYA

Goodness, a day and a half grandmab. I’m in awe of your energy.

That’s an excellent plan soop, we all have them on our development. Thankfully ours have only been activated by inquisitive small children and our equally inquisitive former daughter in law. We were, however, summoned to the aid of a neighbour for whom we act as key holders when she used hers after an accident. She was more than pleased to see us and we were impressed by the way the system works. They can truly be lifesavers.

Mr C has finally listened to all the advice and is being remarkably sensible brook. Thank you for asking. As a result the last couple of days have seen some progress. I think he just may be a convert to common sense, she says with crossed fingers.

I’ve been very interested in the holiday images, places I’m unlikely to visit and good to see.

Goodnight everyone. Sleep tight.

Grandmabatty Mon 21-Aug-23 19:26:53

Scapa I was amazed by the Italian Chapel when I visited. It is a very serene spot. Brook thank you. Mum was chatty for ten minutes which is as much as she manages these days. I visit for half an hour at a time as that's enough for her. Annsixty don't go on the holiday if you won't enjoy it. Jaxjacky enjoy your quiz. See you tomorrow.

Jaxjacky Mon 21-Aug-23 19:14:25

A quick visit, quiz soon.
Beautiful chapel Scapal thank you.

Love to Mr&MrsUrms ❤️xx
