Good morning, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Many thanks to everyone for the kind congratulations on DGS1's results, much appreciated.
Grandmabatty, I'm glad that your Mum can stay in where she is for 3 months, it gives you time to consider options for her future care.
Annsixty, I agree with Charleygirl, keep practising with your scooter in an area with smooth pavements, you will build up your confidence gradually.
Blossoming, I'm glad to hear of good results at your check up, well done on the weight loss too!
Cornergran, great to hear that MrC enjoyed a wee walk at the seaside, that'll do him a power of good. I hope you can join him for the horizontal nap!😴😴

Yesterday I had my hair and nails done, then picked up my car at 6pm. It'll last another year🤞 I was lost without it, even for only a couple of days.
Girls' night out tonight for Bookgroup.
Best wishes to all on holidays, visiting family and friends. Ladyleftfieldlover, I hope you have a wonderful time at the wedding tomorrow.
Thinking of all with worries, illness or sorrow. Take care. 🥰🙏

Sounds like recovery is going well, albeit slowly Cornergran.

Annsixty I echo what previous posters have said, build up gradually and you will get the hang of it it. I hope you’re feeling a bit better today.

Hope it’s ok to have some for tens-is nannytopsy. Mr C is on hospital time snd the day begins far too early here.

Only a short walk yesterday, Mr C overdid the enthusiasm on Wednesday and slept for most of yesterday. It was quiet! I’m sneaking out for our development monthly coffee session soon, Mr C will sleep. He’ll phone if necessary. It seems he’s hoping for an outing this afternoon. We will - if he’s awake grin.

Right, I’m off to chase the patient out of the conservatory for horizontal morning nap - that’s if he’s awake!

Wishing you all well.

Nannytopsy Fri 11-Aug-23 08:49:43

Keep it up Ann - I hope you get the hang of it soon.
thanks for Neine - remember your DGS.
It’s a Flower Festival this weekend run by our WI. Why did I ever think a rainbow arrangement would be easy ??
Must dash - apple and lemon cake on the table for your elevenses.

Charleygirl5 Thu 10-Aug-23 23:02:46

Neine I cannot believe that family can be so vindictive and cruel and it is 10 times worse at the actual funeral.

Corner Great to hear that Mr C managed to go for a short walk along the seafront. I know it is very difficult because you probably need eyes in the back of your head and do not feel you can have much rest when Mr C is awake.

ann all I can suggest is you practise on your machine a few times a day until you feel confident to do a small shop. Unless one is very lucky, most of the pavements are a disgrace.

annsixty Thu 10-Aug-23 19:50:02

My confidence is dented.
I went round the park on my scooter, I was not confident at all.
The scooter I hired in Llandudno was a far more stable machine than this one.
I need lots of practice.
Also the pavements are so bad on our estate that I was very unsure of my safety.
I hope I get better or I have wasted quite a sum of money.

Blossoming Thu 10-Aug-23 19:48:06

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It has been very hot here and no rain. Great for my washing.

An early start this morning, I had an appointment for a hypertension review. It was a new staff member, a very pleasant young lady. My BP is nice and low, she seemed a little concerned as she hasn’t seen anyone with tightly controlled BP before and was surprised to see how many meds I’m on. I’m able to explain what they’re all for and why I need them, I hope she doesn’t suggest cutting any. It’s been tried in the past and always my blood pressure has climbed rapidly. Not great with an untreated cerebral aneurysm.

She also logged my weight, I’ve lost 3kgs over the last month which I’m very happy with. My height is still 5ft 1ins and a bit, which is reassuring. There is a history of osteoporosis in my family and I have been diagnosed with osteopaenia. Given that I have just passed my 70th birthday I think I’m doing pretty good!

I need to visit the blood clinic next week for the usual 6 monthly bloods. I have a mammogram appointment next Tuesday afternoon and there is a blood test clinic on the same site so will try to get both done.

Once again I have wittered away about myself, but it does me good to write it down and share in this safe place.

Glad things are progressing Cornergran I hope you can have some rest today.

Lovely to see you Neine, you will always find friends in here. You have been treated very cruelly and I hope you can start to put it all behind you. You have a great relationship with your OH, be happy 😊❤️🌹

Congrats to your grandson Grannmarie you must be so proud.

Hope you enjoy the new scooter Annsixty, you’re right not to push yourself when you’re not 100%

Sending love and a group hug to you precious people 🌻

Jaxjacky Thu 10-Aug-23 19:27:39

Sorry Grannmarie I missed your news of DGS1’s results, he must be pleased, deservedly so.
Both you and your husband are doing brilliantly corner, I imagine you’re pretty weary though and permanently on the alert, take care.
And ann has wheels! Hurrah, you’ll be doing tricks before your friend has her L plates.
A funny day, sun, then high cloud, but the bedding dried and I’m back to watering outside, not just the greenhouse.
Cats fed again, one more day, then someone else takes over.
MrJ is on dinner duty and made our bed, he deserves golf tomorrow.
Have a pleasant evening all.

hulahoop Thu 10-Aug-23 17:38:29

Neime sending you ((hugs)). Cherish the smile from your Gson . You did what you thought was right and was very brave to do that.
Granmarie congratulations to your gson.
We have been for lunch with friends today don't see them very often so nice to catch up.
My mobility is still rubbish but people are putting up with a lot worse.
It's still glorious outside .Salad for tea .

Bea65 Thu 10-Aug-23 17:33:00

SOOP Belated Happy Birthday Greetings… you so remind me of my late Mom with your smile 🌼🌼

Grandmabatty Thu 10-Aug-23 17:14:48

Evening Kitcheners. I'm just back from lunch. We blethered a lot and I cuddled the baby a lot too. I was out with a friend and also a former colleague who I mentored as a probationer who has recently had a baby. It was a very pleasant afternoon. It's been exceptionally muggy here and the flying ants are out in force. I'm off to visit mum soon and get an update on her condition. Have a good evening Kitcheners

soop Thu 10-Aug-23 15:52:43

Neine You are assured of comforting support from this lovely lot. You were treated disgracefully. Those who belittled you are, in my opinion, not worth a hoot. flowers

annsisxty Good for you. You've done the right thing and I would love to see a photo of you sometime in charge of your new wheels. Rest and relax. I also send get well vibes. Bless you.

Bravo! Mr and Mrs Corner. That is splendid progress.

Grandmabatty I'm partial to chilli (with crusty bread). wink

Grannmarie Hearty congratulations to your dear grandson. All his hard work has paid dividends. sunshine

brook2704 Thu 10-Aug-23 14:17:16

Hoping you feel a bit better soon ann and you can enjoy a walk around the park with your GD, take care x

GrannySomerset Thu 10-Aug-23 13:28:36

annsixty, sorry you are not feeling well enough to be excited about the new transport but hope you are soon mistress of the local pavements and enjoying the relative freedom. Fingers crossed for you.

annsixty Thu 10-Aug-23 13:18:42

Good afternoon all.
Good news from Cornergran her H is doing well but I well know the feeling of smiling for everyone when underneath you are shattered.
My scooter arrived this morning I will post a photo later.
Sadly I am not at my best today, just not 100% and feeling not with it so I haven’t ventured out yet.
Perhaps when my GD finishes work we may have a little trip round the park which is just a few minutes away.
Have the best afternoon you can everyone.

brook2704 Thu 10-Aug-23 12:21:54

So lovely to hear Mr C is progressing so well Corner and can get a walk in by the sea - that’s amazing progress in such a short time. No wonder you’re tired though, hope you can get some rest today.
More good news with your DGSs results grannmarie, a very well done to him!
It’s gorgeous, warm and sunny here in Inverness, in fact it’s a bit too hot for me so I’ve come in from the garden and sat in the conservatory. Lots of bedding drying well on the line. I had a really good time at the salsa class last night at the gym, the new instructor was brilliant and really good fun. I’d definitely go again if it becomes a regular class on the timetable.
DH is at his weekly physio class following his knee op, he’s doing really well
Neine 💐 for you, isn’t the kitchen just the best place!

Naughtyneine Thu 10-Aug-23 11:33:44

I am overwhelmed and reduced to tears at the love and support that has been given to me by you all. Thank you for your messages. I will always be amazed that even though lots of us have never met we know each other so well because we have this safe place to be ourselves and share the thoughts we probably wouldn't share with anyone else. You all know me only by my posts and yet you all treated me like a close and well loved friend...I'm humbled. X
Soop...a very belated Happy Birthday to you...a beautiful picture of you.. I'm glad the sun shone for you too.
Ann... New wheels.... are going to personalise it...sparkles..flowers maybe.
Corner... How lovely a little walk by the sea. After my back surgery I used to set myself a challenge.. first to the corner... Then the post box etc. Bless you too...nursing with a smile. I hope you do get a little down time to recoup all the energy that's been needed mentally and physically over the last few weeks.
Grandmarie... Well done to your DGS on his results..proud granny just as it should be..I hope the car gets sorted too.

cornergran Thu 10-Aug-23 08:12:44

Catching up I was horrified to read of your experience neine. Such cruelty. Please accept my love and a warm hug.

You’ll soon be mobile ann. Good for you

Pleased your birthday was so enjoyable soop.

Another sunny day ahead. It’s so good to see. Mr C had a couple of short, slow walks yesterday, one at his request on the sea front where a miracle occurred and I could park. He’s progressing we think, Still a little wobbly and very out of breath on exertion, he needs help with most things which I’m happy to provide with a smile. Underneath I’m absolutely shattered, fibro has predictably been aggravated. Little I must do today so perhaps we can synchronise naps.

Take care everyone.

Grannmarie Wed 09-Aug-23 22:11:18

Thank you, YiaYia and Grandmabatty for your kind words on DGS1's results.
My dear friend came and picked me up this evening ( hoping to get my car back tomorrow, £££) and we enjoyed a gentle stroll round our lovely wee park followed by coffees in our lovely local hotel. We couldn't sit on 'our' usual seats because the 🇪🇷 Eritrean 🚴 cyclists were having their bar supper!

Neine, I am so sorry for the callous treatment you received. You showed such strength in going. Please hold onto the positives, your grandsons smile and that you could spend those moments in the chapel at the end of the service.

I hope that time heals and you can let go of the hurt.

Stay strong brave lady💪🏼💐

annsixty Wed 09-Aug-23 18:28:05

Good evening all.
A lovely day weatherwise here today.
Dry and warm.
My scooter is arriving tomorrow morning.
My S has cleared a space in the garage for it, I did think to keep it in the utility room but not ideal.
The battery will have to be lifted off to charge inside until I sort it out but I am so pleased I have taken the plunge.
My friend has been back with her D this afyernoon to investigate. No news so far but no change there.
She only tells as much and when she feels ready.
It is getting rather annoying!!.

Grandmabatty Wed 09-Aug-23 18:00:30

Good evening Kitcheners. I've had a very lazy day. Haircut this morning then I made a big pot of chilli in the slow cooker which will be served with rice and pitta bread soon. Neine I join with the others in expressing my disgust at how you were treated and I hope you are able to let the hurt go in time. Soop such lovely photos. Grannmarie well done to that clever dgs of yours! How annoying about your car though. Have a good evening all

gillgran Wed 09-Aug-23 17:46:34

Neine, warm thoughts & flowers for you.
I join that group hug that soop suggested. x

Great photos soop, I'm pleased you had a good birthday.

Ali23 Wed 09-Aug-23 17:07:33

Neine, I just wanted to send you a hug.

Goodness knows what has made your family act so callously. It’s horrible.

You will heal, Neine, with the support of your DOH , I’m sure of it. You may not feel too strong now, but you are.

ixion Wed 09-Aug-23 16:45:12

Neine , my heart goes out to you over such callous treatment.

However, you did what was right for you and your sister and God will hold you both close to him, which is all that matters deep down.

Hold you head high, continue to show dignity in the face of adversity and take comfort in the knowledge that you have given your sister the love that the rest of them could never hope to show.

Be proud of who and what you are. 🕯️🌻
