Good morning from a currently sunny West Sussex coast. I read all the messages earlier then fell asleep - well it’s exhausting reading about all these busy days!

We made the best use of yesterday’s wet weather by going to see the afternoon showing of Oppenheimer. We thought it was good though maybe not as good as some of the critics are saying. It kept me absorbed, not least because a lot of the dialogue was, as often these days, not clear.

Glad to hear that MrC is making progress.
Grammaretto you sound as though your fluey cold has cleared somewhat.
I hope Baubles is feeling better.

I need to return some library books that have been requested by other people (the cheek!). Then to the allotment if it stays dry. Our half plot is fortunately filled partly with fruit trees and bushes but there is still plenty to do.

Love the Dad’s Army photo, Ash.

Enjoy the cycling Mick.

I must catch-up with the later messages.

Have a good day all, with thoughts as always for those dealing with illness or sadness 🕯🕯🕯

Good morning from W Kent. Very late this morning but thank you for the birthdays wishes yesterday. I might have one too many glasses of champagne but hope to return to normal soon.
Best wishes to all

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. You are sounding so much brighter Mick. Enjoy your bus trip and the cycling.

Yesterday’s Eye Clinic went well. Lots of tests using prisms and other tools. It fascinates me to see how the diagnostics work. Next appointment in 6 months and as always I can contact them if any problems arise meantime.

Today I plan to catch up on some chores and a walk later if it stays dry. Although it’s sunny right now there are some ominous black clouds around.

Yesterday’s hospital appointment meant I didn’t catch up with the thread until quite late in the day.

Pleased Olddudders had a stress free journey.

Glad MrCornergran is doing well*, I hope it’s not too long before he’s ready to come home. It’s a very long day for you Cornergran.

That’s an impressive wound Multi, I hope it’s not too painful.

Say hello to Nessie for me Brook if you manage to find her. I’ve heard that the best way to spot her is to spend some time sampling the wares in the Dores Inn.

I used to be in an online book club Foxy but some of the book choices were tedious. I love reading but it felt like an ordeal rather than a pleasure.

I waited in vain for some mention of North West England and Scotland on the weather forecast Taichinan. I find out more looking out of the window!

Glad the dentist went well Ekwa.

Sounds like quite an adventure Holly, I can’t walk on soft sand so have to plan a path in advance.

Thinking of those dealing with worries and illness and hope today brings some comfort.

Have a good day all 🌻

Good Morning from S Yorks. It's sunny atm and nice to look out on for a change. Cant wait for the promised improvement in weather later in August! Poor kids on holiday - so much rain atm - family are coming locally last week in august so here's hoping.

Having been referred for a 2 week endoscopy, I'd tried 2 hours ringing yesterday to return a call not getting through for an appointment and was onto it first thing and eventually got through.

Glad small steps being made Cornergran.

Good they have a physio, Grey. Clearly a well kept secret or huge demand?

Just got a check up this afternoon post an op - not sure about scar, we'll see what consultant says. Otherwise pottering.
Bests for poorlies, and may outings be in the sun or sunny in other ways.

Good morning Mick, Annie and all, and the sun is shining, how long for? but can just hope it stays a while.
DS2 is coming today after all, not earlier in the week, when I had been half expecting him. Better late than never, but we shall all probably go out for lunch.
Thank you to those who asked after my Dr's phone call. She asked me to go to the surgery, and good news, all is well. So no more worries.
Had my hair cut yesterday, and am reasonably pleased with it. I am never 100% pleased, so 95% is good. Anyway it was nice to be pampered for a while. Mind you, she is from Cambodia, and so with her accent, the driers, general noise and my not so good hearing, the conversation was a bit hit and miss.
Nice to hear that MrC is slowly recovering, just that the hospital visiting is so tiring Corner, make sure you get some rest.
Marydoll shame about the bookkeeper, but you had good training from school days 😁.
Thinking of all who are poorly, or those having to look after poorlies. Thinking of the Urms, Kalu and those I have forgotten.
Have a good day one and all.

harrigran Thu 03-Aug-23 09:31:10

Good morning from a wet NE, it rained all day yesterday.
Shopping went well, bought myself a very light showerproof coat for my holiday, light enough to carry in a handbag or rucksack.
Heard yesterday that my favourite restaurant had closed for good, they claim that it is not a viable business in the present economic climate. It was where we celebrated every family birthday and my friend and I would have lunch there.

SIL replaced the light switch in the kitchen, it has been iffy for a while. He told me he thought there were replacement switches in the attic and went to investigate. Sure enough DH had left a boxful of switches and sockets. Saved us having to search the Internet for matching brushed steel ones.
Super photo Ashcombe, easy to identify who's who ☺️ shame that I live at the opposite end of the country, would be fun to see.
Thoughts are with poorly people and their carers.

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
Yesterday morning took my self off into the sand dunes at the bottom of the road. I can get through thick growth, trees and bushes on to the beach at a couple of points. Wonderful murmurations as the tide was in and amazing cloud formations. Not a soul for miles. With classic FM on in my ear, it was very enjoyable and I should do it more often. However I chose the wrong route back, overgrown and flooded, I got lost and could have been in a jungle, deep water etc. If I had fallen no one would have found me, but had my phone and wellies. Will take a marker next time for the route out.

Get well soon MrC and thoughts to all with troubles 💐

EkwaNimitee Thu 03-Aug-23 08:57:22

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.

The weather yesterday wasn't quite as bad as expected, relatively light rain in the morning which dried up post lunch although we only had occasional flashes of sun. No wind.

I visited the dentist to have my dodgy crown looked at. It was scheduled for removal in September but had become painful to eat on. It was decided to remove it there and then. It's easy to remove a crown but there's not much tooth to get hold of afterwards. In my case, the whole procedure was very protracted, my root canals are tiny and a bit of root stubbornly remained and was very difficult to get hold of. I lay back mouth agape while she seemed to employ a variety of instruments, having donned a set of magnifying glasses! To my relief, she succeeded, I was beginning to have visions of my gum being opened up to retrieve the remaining bit.
When I finally got out to pay, patients had piled up in the waiting area, it had taken a lot longer than my allowed time. The pain soon settled and, so far, no dreaded dry socket. Fingers crossed here for a few days.
Today, I hope to tackle the ironing and have some vital admin to do. Otherwise, I shall take it easy and read my book.

Glad to see MrC is progressing and I hope all other poorlies are too.

Enjoy the day everyone!

Good morning , it’s dry at the moment ,but very grey here in Co Armagh
Off to Mass this morning, candles will be lit

Georgesgran Thu 03-Aug-23 08:37:48

Good morning from Durham. Dull and not raining - so far.
Coffee with a friend this morning, then taking Little Dog home - DGS2 has missed him, so a nice surprise for him, when he gets in from Nursery.
I’ll swing into Newcastle for August birthday cards, then must see DGS1 as he’s off on holiday tomorrow.
Lots of positive news today - long may it last.
Best wishes to all. X

monk08 Thu 03-Aug-23 08:31:53

Good morning all from the Black country blue skies here at the moment but rain predicted for later again. Did manage half hour of dead heading and a little weeding yesterday.
I might make friends with the duster today then I will make some fudge ready for when DS and the boys come tomorrow.
Nannagarra enjoy the fig I love fresh ones not keen when they're dried.
Safe travels those on the move enjoy your Thursday everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

ginny Thu 03-Aug-23 08:22:27

Good morning from a bright N. Bucks.
The WI Garden party went well last evening. No rain and the sun even made a short visit. A pleasant time had by all and hopefully a goodly sun made for a local hospice.

Today we are having blinds fitted at the back of the house.
I have some baking to do, sausage rolls and some brownies. Then hope to get another project prepared for craft club.

Thoughts as usual to those who are poorly or with troubles.
Best wishes to everyone .

GrannyGravy13 Thu 03-Aug-23 08:20:33

Morning Mick and all

I can see some blue sky between the grey clouds, yippee. We had torrential rain here for several hours yesterday afternoon, thankfully after I had returned home.

Manicure & Pedicure this morning, followed by a quiet afternoon before the madness of the weekend 🤣

Cornergran wishing DH well for his riad to recovery, Multicoloured your leg looks sore.

Hopefully a dry day wherever you are folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Taichinan Thu 03-Aug-23 08:18:11

Good morning Mick and all you busy folk on here. The weather on the Angus coast is the same old same old with a chilly wind blowing.
So glad to hear that all is going well with Mr C, Cornergran and that you have slotted easily into your daily visitor routine. It's good that you can have a decent main meal in the cafeteria - that takes all pressure off you and you can relax with a snack when you get home.
Enjoy that fig Nannagarra - it looks delicious!
I had a lovely lunch out with friends yesterday - three hours of lively chat!,
Not a good night's sleep last night though - brain wide-awake and fizzing since 4am, although the rest of me wanted to get back to sleep. Tai chi soon so I hope my brain and balance will cope!
Yes, I noticed that Britain is due a little bit of summer weather soon Jacs and thought how lovely that will be - until I noticed on the accompanying map that 'Britain' only seems to extend from the south coast up to about South Yorkshire! But I hope the rest of us, in Noman'sland, will see a bit of improvement too. We usually do, once the schools go back in mid August.
Anyway, have the best day everyone x

Sar53 Thu 03-Aug-23 08:11:23

Good morning from the Essex coast where it alternates between sun and cloud, at least it's not raining.
Food shopping early then DH is having his hair cut. I'm having mine cut this afternoon, then we have friends coming this evening to discuss the Yacht club accounts.
DH is now the treasurer and I am doing some of the accounting work. We need to get all our ducks in a row.
Multicoloured that looks sore, I hope it heals ok.
DH has an appointment next Wednesday to have two BCC's removed from his head. He has been waiting a long time and I fear skin grafts may be in order.
Good to hear that MrC is doing well.
Have a pleasant Thursday everyone and hopefully we may see some sun soon xxx

Marydoll Thu 03-Aug-23 08:11:00

Good morning all from a brighter Glasgow, where its 12°C. However, we have rain predicted.

Pleased to hear positive news of Mr C. Corner you must look after yourself too!

I am having a quiet day today. I really need to do some housework!
I have promised DH salmon fishcakes for dinner, it's a family favourite. It is a bit of a faff, so I need a day when I'm not going out.

Yesterday turned out to be busier than expected. The book keeper turned up at church an hour late😡, with no apology, then was very passive aggressive.
The PP was furious with her and walked away, rather than argue with her. We have always had to walk on eggshells around her. I cannot understand why people have to be so unpleasant.
The sacristan also witnessed it and commended me on my patience and keeping my cool!
I explained that years of dealing with difficult parents has served me well! 😉

Later the PP came back, saying we needed a meeting, but we should go for a coffee in Waitrose, which we did! The telephone in the parish house rings constantly, so it was good to catch up, without interruptions. The PP is going away on holiday, so I will be keeping an eye on things and required instructions. It also meant I could pick up a few things, which I needed.
Unfortunately, there was no phone reception, so I couldn't let DH know, where I was and he does worry. 💕
I was fit for nothing when I got back, but in good spirits, which I firmly believe aids my physical wellbeing. I hadn't planned on being out so long.
My sacristan friend (the one whose wife is very ill and understands how problematic my health is) complemented me, saying I looked so well, although he knew that was all a facade and that getting to church was a huge effort. The day I stop wearing lippie is the day I have given up! 😉

I hope you get your promised GP phone call GM.
Mizuna, what a lucky find, I do like a Boden dress!

Have a good day folks, especially those, for whom every day is a challenge. 💐

That’s some hole Multicoloured

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 03-Aug-23 08:04:21

I’ve just seen your photo multicoloured!

Foxygloves Thu 03-Aug-23 07:57:54

Good morning all - sunny and breezy here in Foxyland, I suspect the washing machine calls.
I have to finish my book for tomorrows Book Club though and cannot get to grips with it. I have no interest in or sympathy with the characters and fail to find much plot other than a series of scenes.”Ah but wait till the story gets to Florence” said my friend, “it’s wonderful and of course Florence is so wonderful “
Really?
I’ve never been to Florence and am not that bothered.
But it’s supposed to be a “Sunday Tines best-seller” and “Book of the Year” etc etc
It’s “Still Life” by Sarah Winman so if anybody would like to send me a synopsis and three intelligent things I can say about it tomorrow, I’d be hugely grateful. Otherwise I’ve got to plough on. #lifeistooshort
GS went home yesterday and I can honestly say he was a joy to have. I have been saddened in the past to see the meltdowns he could have with his parents, especially his mummy, having a temperament to match his flaming auburn hair and a will of iron, but saw not a glimmer in the 3 days he was with me. Phew!
In hopes that today will be kind to you all, especially those in pain or distress, I suppose I’d better get back to that flaming book now 😒😒😒

brook2704 Thu 03-Aug-23 07:51:42

Good morning everyone from a grey and cloudy Inverness, think we’ll definitely have some rain today
What a great picture Ash, pleased olddudders got home safely too
Another full on day today, think we’re all going Nessie hunting
Sounds a good routine corner albeit a long day for you. Pleased your DH is doing ok and hope he’s home soon
Sounds like a good weekend is lined up NannyJan, enjoy the concert and your holiday!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gala Thu 03-Aug-23 07:51:02

Good morning from a cool, dry & brightish bit of Sefton. Nannagarra's turn for Sefton's sunshine, it's struggling to shine here.
Zumba class this morning, then a visit to the fish man. Salad Niçoise here too Whitewavemark2 but with salmon. I will potter for the rest of the morning whilst DH helps with an outdoor event locally. Hope it stays dry for them.
Some uncanny resemblances there Ashcombe. Dads Army has certainly stood the test of time. We still watch it on tv, it still makes us laugh despite knowing what's coming next ("Don't tell him Pike.")
Good to see Mick & Mrc further along that road to recovery. Positive thoughts for those with worries & struggles.

multicolourswapshop Thu 03-Aug-23 07:50:49

Good morning everyone from the east coast of Fife where it’s quite dull and expected to rain.
Nurse visit today when she’s going to change the dressing on my wound it’s healing oerfectly even with the big hole where they removed the basil cell carcinoma.

Liberty Thu 03-Aug-23 07:49:37

Good morning from Suffolk( a bit further north than Gingster ) where there is no sun and indeterminate clouds.

My Teams meeting yesterday lasted 3 hours with a short break midway so I certainly feel as though I need my stretch class this morning. DD1 and family are coming tomorrow from Bristol for the weekend so I need to make up 4 beds and seek out the soft toys which are always on the beds of the DGC when they arrive. Although they are 15,13 and 11 they always rush upstairs when they arrive to make sure they are there. That is,of course, after hugs all round, the biggest one often from the DGS.

Good to have positive news of MrC’s recovery and thinking of those who are unwell and those with worries.

Gwenisgreat Thu 03-Aug-23 07:49:10

Good morning all from sunny? Harrogate! Seems a long time since the weather has looked good.
That’s you settled Mick for a while. You are lucky to have weather up to 20 GrandMattie. We are lucky if it reaches 18, and that only lasts for 10 minutes! Great photo Ashcombe. Good luck with the production. Today is a busy day for me. I have a Sainsburies delivery this morning, then a trip to the opticians, this pm a 2m telephone 📞 appointment. A possible visit from DD1 with DGD and puppy, then Zooming this evening to keep in touch with my sisters!
Have the best day possible folks.
