I just listened to him on YouTube too and had no problem understanding him, but I rarely have an issue understanding anyone, including Paddy McGuinness.

I use the subtitles. There are a few accents I find hard to understand - northern Irish for example,

That’s because we speak very fast. Rather like the Spanish.

I have just listened to his report on phone scams and found his speech to be perfectly clear , well-paced and easy to understand. His voice is quite pleasant and reassuring.

I think the bloke has a speech impediment. How on earth can ITV London employ such a person? I can hardly understand a word he says!

Kaf is a very good presenter, I understand him, what a nasty ignorant comment the above is.

Paddy McGuinness is also fine!
I have no problems with understanding him either!

He's from Farnsworth so has a local accent and (good for him) has kept it.

Correction, I just had a listen to him on YouTube.
I don’t think he has a speech impediment, apologies, but his speech is quite mumbled and low, with very little expression. This makes it hard for the listener to tune in I think. He isn’t the easiest person to listen to for sure. He has an accent, but I couldn’t quite catch where he said he was born. Obviously the listener has to work a bit harder to hear what someone is saying if the speaker has an accent. I found this when I first came to the south from the north. Teaching in an inner city school, I found the southern accent (think broad East Enders type accents) that the children had very difficult at times to understand and I had to ask my Teaching Assistant to translate for me on occasion, which was quite embarrassing. My ear adapted over time, but there were always rare occasions when I couldn’t understand and needed help.

Just had to Google him and heard his report on the court proceedings re the Chris Kaba shooting and another out on the streets following the dreadful crossbow incident where 3 people were shot.
He seemed perfectly clear to me.

Clear speech ought to be paramount. Have never understood how on earth Paddy McGuinness has worked and continues to work on television. His voice/dialect grates and he is hard to understand,

I just listened to him on You Tube and found him quite easy to understand. The chap interviewing him, less so.

I've never heard of him so I got onto YouTube and listened to a couple of minutes and I have to admit I have absolutely no idea what he's saying!

However, saying he has a speech impediment is nasty, if he has it's not his fault.

It’s not nasty, it’s a fact.
It could have been phrased more diplomatically though.
It’s not his fault, but I should have thought clear speech would be the first requirement on the job description for a news reader.
I had never heard of him either as we rarely watch ITV News.

I'd never heard of him either but saw this online:

In 2015, he came third at the Jack Petchey 'Speak Out' challenge for his speech on the state of British education, urging the audience to "take off their ties and blazers and bring on the education revolution". Since then, he has gone on to do more public speaking events, frequenting the Highgate Literary and Scientific Institute at their quarterly debates: wowing the affluent North London audience with his "Churchillian" voice as he tackles topics like austerity, higher education and the NHS. Other speakers at the HLSI debates have included well-known public figures like the Spectator Columnist, Toby Young and Liberal Democrat Peer, Lynne Featherstone.

So he must be in demand with his "Churchillian" voice, unless he wrote that bit himself?

I have just listened to his phone scam report and could understand every word. So no idea what the problem is. Also at least he speaks with correct grammar, which cannot be said of all reporters.

You’d think that very clear speech would be the first requirement for a new reporter. But it wouldn’t surprise me if he had been employed under some policy of inclusivity.

So difficult to understand him. Switch off when he is on.

Following on from a thread on Very hard to understand Foreign accents, I have found that one of the ITV news reporters, Kaf Okpattah(sp)? very hard to hear/ understand. He doesn't appear to open his mouth properly when speaking.
Has anyone else found the same ?
