I’ve not only been to it, I’ve been in it! The entire thing is tongue in cheek as far as I’m concerned. That sort of blatant flag-waving belongs to the days of empire.

bit confused, are you saying this took place in Australia?

I'm so glad you enjoyed it *nanna8. I too would love to attend a Last Night at the Royal Albert Hall but probably never will. I live in Northumberland.

We went to a wonderful version of this with all the old patriotic British music and singalongs and flag waving. A bit of tongue in cheek with Land of Hope and Glory but everyone joined in loudly and we were all given union jacks to wave. We were in a minority being actually born in the uk ( got a few ‘donations’ of flags afterwards) . The pipe band was fantastic, kids from Presbyterian Ladies College where my daughter was once a pupil - I adore bagpipes and those drums.
Has anyone been to the ‘real’ version? I would love it but too far Togo for us now.
